Chapter 22

I groaned, feeling the cold air embrace my skin as I skated over to Josh to help him up. He had fallen over a total of ten times in the past hour whilst trying to do the triple axel; I was beginning to worry about concussion.

"I've nearly got it!" he exclaimed, getting to his feet and brushing ice shards from his trousers.

I glanced over at Cooper and Dale who were sat by the bench with Clara and all of them seemed to be stifling laughter. Josh tried to slide across the ice again, but it wasn't working with him. It was rough under his skates and tripping him up whenever he moved one of his feet in front of the other.

"Josh, arms up!" I hollered as he turned the corner and tried to go into the axel for the eleventh time. He jumped up from the ice, but his skate caught and he looked like he was trying to do a ballet jump but failing. As expected, he fell to the ice with a thump and a yelp.

"Dude, if only Layla could see you now!" Dale hollered and Clara slapped his arm, but was laughing nonetheless.

"You're looking a bit on the feminine side," Cooper added through laughs and I had to bite my lip to keep from giggling.

"It's Ally's fault! She's giving me the camp movements!" he exclaimed, reaching out to take my hand which I quickly withdrew and gave him a look.

"Ally is also trying to keep your ass off the ice so show her some respect," I winked and the others just laughed harder. I put my hand out for Josh to take and he got back up, rubbing his bum.

"Sorry," he muttered and grinned at me, taking off on another lap around the rink.

Cooper, Dale and Clara were here with us and doing some band practise whilst we were on the ice. Apparently, Josh didn't really do much in the music making; he just sang what Cooper wrote so he was free to have a skate around. I would be going back to Cooper's house whilst Cooper had some time to do some band practise. He had been adamant against leaving me, so I had to practically force him to go.

I decided to leave Josh to practise the axel whilst I perfected my lutz jump and layback attitude.

The ice was like water beneath the skates, running free whilst it was being contained by the controlled strokes of my blades. I stopped and twirled on the toe piece; picking up speed and feeling the world vanish around me. The rink and room were spinning so fast that I couldn't make anything out when I put my arms up and ran them down my torso before leaning back and lifting one of my skates up from the ice. Sometimes it felt as if life moved at that speed, so fast that you couldn't grasp what was happening, yet so miniscule that you don't remember half of the things that you have seen.

I pulled my body into an upright position and pushed off from my skate, twirling into a perfect axel and then going into my lutz. The balance was perfect as the cold breeze kept my body upright, my leg went up and I twisted again. For a moment it was almost as if I weighed nothing and as if nothing mattered, until I felt the jolt from beneath me that reminded me that everything was real. I had landed again and slowly skidded to a stop.

When the room stopped spinning, I noticed that all eyes were on me and everyone was gawping.

"What?" I asked in a hushed tone, shrugging and feeling the blush rise to my cheeks. I wasn't exactly a fan of attention.

"That was absolutely amazing!" Clara exclaimed and Dale nodded, wrapping his arm around her shoulder. Cooper was still working his eyes over my body and looking at me with a mouth open expression.

I slid over to the barrier and Cooper got up to press his lips to mine.

"You're amazing," he whispered, resting his forehead against mine and I smiled.

"Ditto," he was about to kiss me again when Josh cleared his throat from behind me.

"Get me a bucket!" he exclaimed whilst fake gagging, causing us all to erupt into giggles.

"Shut up and skate!" I ordered. He grinned, giving me a mock salute and then taking off around the rink, completing a sequence of bunny hops and waltz jumps.

After Cooper had dropped me off at his house, I went straight up the stairs and headed towards his room. I didn't like being out in the streets, I didn't even feel safe in his car.

My dad had been let out the day before, I hadn't seen him but I was paranoid. Everyone looked like him; I'd see the back of someone's head and panic, only to find that they weren't him when they turned around. The entire trip back to the house, I was clinging onto Cooper like a little child but he didn't mind, he just sat patiently and soothed me. I would get used to it, but at that moment, my biggest fear was my dad coming after me.

When I had gotten inside his house, it was like I was showered with relief and Sadie's face made my entire body relax. She had come upstairs make sure that I was okay and told me that she would see me later before leaving to give me some time alone.

I was just about to go into Cooper's room when Lisa strolled up the stairs and grinned at me.

"I never told you what happened the other day!" she exclaimed, grabbing my sleeve and dragging me into her room. It was a lot like my old one, but instead of white it was a baby blue colour all around. She also had a massive picture of The Wanted.

"No, you didn't," I sat down on the edge of her bed and she sat down next to me, leaning against the wall behind her.

"Well, I think Josh and I had a moment," she started and excitement danced around in her eyes.

"What kind of moment?" I inquired, leaning back next to her and she grinned, pushing loose strands of her hair behind her ears.

Apparently, when Josh was driving Lisa home, they stopped at a traffic light and Josh saw Layla. He had started to moan about her and go on about how he just wanted the chance to stick to one girl; he wasn't keen on sleeping around. She sat and listened to him, gave him so advice and complimented him on his looks.

"And then he said that he wished I was older because I was exactly what guys look for in a girl!" she squealed, sitting forward on her knees and grinning from ear to ear. I couldn't help but smile with her.

"Two years isn't much of a difference, just keep doing what you're doing. You're gorgeous, Lisa, so he won't be able to resist for long," I winked and she giggled, a blush filling her cheeks which just made her look cuter.

"How's life with my brother then?" she asked.

"Absolutely amazing," I gushed and she laughed, tapping her fingers on her thigh in a melodic rhythm.

"As Josh would say, you're whipped," she said seriously and it was my turn to burst out into laughter. She sat quizzing me on her brother for a while, trying to get information that she could tease him about before she finally let me go back to Cooper's room.

I settled down at Cooper's desk with my notepad and took my IPod out. Being in his room made every single cell in my body feel at home, his smell and his belongings just seemed to fit.

I took off my jacket and curled one of my legs under the other one. I picked up my pencil and started to draw again.

I must've been sat there for about an hour as I had gone through One Direction's album twice and was on the third time around when I felt some hands squeeze my waist gently, making me squeak.

"What are you listening to?" his voice was soft and husky against my ear that didn't have the earphone in it. I twisted to feel his arms on either side of me and his breath on my cheek.

He picked up my IPod and groaned, putting it back on the desk.

"Oh, Ally, you're such a disappointment," I took my earphone out and followed him over to the other seat that he was sat in.

"Oh, c'mon, you've got to love One Direction!" I exclaimed, causing him to shake his head in disagreement. He gently grasped my waist and pulled me down so that I was straddling his lap.

I was eye level with him and his lips looked so soft that I couldn't help but lean forward to kiss him, his fingers gently caressed my waist and I sat back, looking at his beautiful brown eyes.

"No, I haven't got to love One Direction," he winked and I laughed, reaching back to turn my IPod off.

"I have an idea," he said when I was facing him again.

"Feel like sharing your idea?" I asked, backing up from his lap to sit cross legged on the bed.

"Well, my mum and dad have decided that they're going to go out for dinner and Lisa is at her friends, so we have the house to ourselves for this evening and I feel like cooking for you," I gaped at him and he laughed.

"Might want to shut your mouth, you'll catch flies," I snapped my mouth shut and gave him a sour look.

"I would love that!" I jumped up and wrapped my arms around his neck, getting on my tip toes so that I was eye level with him and he laughed.

"Good, I was hoping for that reaction," he wrapped his arms around my waist and gently kissed the soft skin of my neck. I felt my body tingle as I put my head back so that he could get better access.

"Cooper!" I grumbled a little when Cooper pulled back so that he could address his mum who was stood in the doorway.

"Are you going now?" he asked, twisting around to face his mum but not once letting go of me.

"Yes, we'll see you at about twelve, if you're still up," she winked and turned around, saying her goodbyes.

I buried my face in Cooper's chest, feeling the soft fabric from his shirt brush against my face.

"Your parents must think that I'm a total sex addict!" I whined and I felt his laugh vibrate through his chest. I felt his hand brush my back through my hair and I blushed.

"Nah, they just always seem to find us in heated situations," he mocked, trying to sound posh. I hit his arm, pulling my face away from his warm chest.

"Great, perfect first impressions!" he laughed, slinging his arm over my shoulder.

"Your first impression was dinner, and you weren't trying to jump me then?" he noted with a wink. I slapped his arm again and laughed.

"I was clearly struggling to keep my hands off you!" he laughed with me and started towards the door.

"Come on, sex crazed or not, we need to stock up on food supplies!" Cooper strolled through the door and I had to jog to catch up with him as he walked us out to his car.

The trip to the supermarket consisted of Cooper continually teasing me and me trying to ignore him but failing.

The supermarket was quite close to his house so I was out of the car and distracting him with food quicker than you can say 'spaghetti bolognaise'.

"Do you actually know what you're doing?" I asked when he had thrown yet another type of pasta mix into the basket. Cooper glanced over his shoulder at me and smirked.

"Of course I know what I'm doing! Do you not trust me, Ally?" he asked, turning around and fixing me with a cheeky glare. I laughed and took out the newest jar from his basket.

"Yes, but do we really need, extra mature cheese sauce?" I asked, carefully reading the words from the side of the jar and Cooper laughed.

"You don't even know what I plan on making, so keep your critique to yourself," he said playfully and pouted. I resisted the urge of kissing the pout away and settled for gently tapping his cheek before making my way back down the aisle to look for some spaghetti sticks.

After a few minutes of searching, the closest that I found to spaghetti sticks, was a tin of spaghetti hoops.

"Those aren't going to be any good," Cooper mocked from behind me and I grinned, putting them back on the shelf.

"I know! I was only looking around," he smirked and held up the basket.

"I'm all ready to go if you are," he held his arm out for me to grab and I was just about to when a familiar face caught my eye at the bottom of the aisle. He didn't turn around, but he didn't need to, I knew it was him.

Sorry, cliffhanger ;) Anyway, I found a new Ally! Picture to the right hand side :) Please let me know what you think of her :)

Question: Do we think that Lisa and Josh should hook up? And who is in the supermarket? A dedication will go to the first correct guess! :)
