We sat at the angel’s home, he had offered us coffee but I politely declined. He seemed uncertain to talk. It was odd, seeing this guy go from wearing Batman t-shirts to a full out tuxedo for her funeral. I guess he had truly cared about her.

“I had loved Roslyn the very first time I had met her. I was in college, even angels need degrees these days.” He chuckled at his small joke and continued.

“She had been sitting in one of her general studies classes, attempting to pay attention, but she was distracting herself as much as me. She picked up her pencil and begun to draw paradise, my paradise.” It took a moment to realize he was talking about Heaven, but I understood why he thought it was his paradise, but something must’ve been missing for him to come to earth.

Daniel shifted in his chair as he continued my heart paining when I remembered my time with Dean.

I continued on walking down the broken sidewalk, “She made me feel like dirt, like I was a monster or something. And by looking at myself in the mirror; to see my eyes glow like a wild animal…I guess she was right. Maybe I am a monster.”

Dean turned in front of me, forcing me to stop. He put his hands on my shoulders. “Don’t you ever look at yourself like that. I’ve hunted down a lot of evil crap, in my time. And you are not. You’ve saved me, you’ve saved Sam; before you even knew us. We would risk our asses in a heartbeat for you if the moment called for it.”

I stared into his kind eyes, and I knew he meant it. But I also knew I would risk my life again for them.

“I know,” I said softly.

We came closer together, our lips only an inch apart now. As his lips kissed me I had to stand on my tippy toes for his level, a disadvantage for being short. He had his hands wrapped around my waist, and I linked my arms around him and began nuzzling his neck. The musk or cologne I wasn't sure what it was, but he smelled wonderful.

That kiss, that confession, however how brief it had been, it had meant something to me.

And now here was Daniel talking about paradise? Paradise was more than a painting, more than a pretty field in your backyard. It’s the people around you that make or break your paradise. Perhaps it was what Bobby meant when he had asked me over a year ago to take them to a place that would make them happy. Was I meant to do more than help them? Was I supposed to save them?

Daniel continued to talk, unaware of the epiphany I was holding inside my mind. “She drew like she wasn’t there, as if everything around her had melted.” I knew the feeling. Drawing was an escape, you would loose track of time and where you were, and you wouldn’t remember until you’d hear Dean’s voice, and remember you are not in the paradise you are drawing, you are with Dean and Sam…and that made all the difference.

“She was a bit skeptical about our relationship at first, but we shared so many common interests. We ended up dating a week later, and if I had known that she had sold her soul—I would have beat the deal out of that crossroads demon a long time ago. But now that I know where she is…I can go.” He stood up and took the knife again. “I cannot have this on me when I go to hell, they would use it as a road to heaven.”

Breanna and I stared at him in confusion; until he began running his knife through the air and the air became thicker, almost translucent like jello, as earth and hell began to give in to the knife’s overwhelming power. Daniel peeled it all back, and it became a doorway. Fire and darkness waited on the edge of the door, threatening to spill over into earth.

He threw the knife onto the ground, looking at me briefly, “Know what you want most and it will take you there.”

Daniel turned from us and began to step off the hardwood floor and into hell. He planned on going in there, taking Roslyn, then doing whatever possible to get out, and if that did not happen, he thought at least they could be together when they died. I stared at him in horror, I’ve known that look. I’ve gave that look.

It was then the angel began to seal off the portal, pinching together the fabric of the worlds with his bare hands. Breanna was reluctant to let him go. “Wait! How do you plan on getting back without the knife!?”

He did not answer. “I don’t think he cares about that right now.” I muttered under my breath. He glanced at me and nodded, sealing of the remains of the portal.

I picked up the knife and looked at it closely. I was so close to Sam and Dean.
