I look around to try and find the source of the voice. I look to my right and see Liam standing there smiling. I quickly stand up and smile at him. He walks over and looks like he was about to give me a hug but decided against it. It would have been awkward and I think he realised.
"You go to school here?" I ask trying to start up a conversation. In my head I mentally face palm. I could have said something better.
"Yeah. Have been since I transferred which was just three weeks ago. I'm guessing today is your first day?"
"Yup!" I say a little too enthusiastically. I turn into such a noodle when I'm around him.
He smiles and looks around. In the distance a guy waves at Liam and he returns the gesture. I look down awkwardly at my feet. I should make friends.
All of a sudden a voice cuts me from my thoughts.
"I've got your timetable and your locker code!"
Jennifer has returned and is holding two papers. She's smiling like crazy and I can't believe how happy she is. She glances at Liam and then looks back to me.
"Do you guys know each other?"
Liam and I nod.
"Cool. Well we better hurry before the bell rings."
I look at Liam and smile. He smiles back and I can feel butterflies in my stomach.
"I'll see you around Julia." He walks off down the hall towards the guy who waved at him earlier.
"Come on." Jennifer nudges me softly.
I follow Jennifer towards a wall of lockers.
"Yours is locker number is 456. Which is..." She looks over all the lockers and finds my one,"there." She points to a locker which is just to the right of her face. I don't think I'll be able to reach it. If I'm lucky I might be able to stand on my tiptoes and then reach it. I nod. Time to test out my theory.
Jennifer moves out the way and hands me one of the papers. I look down at my code and gulp. Fate can be cruel.
"Are you okay? You've gone all pale." Jennifer looks at my face worriedly.
I nod my head. I'm lying of course. My code is 130700. The date my mom disappeared...
I shake my head a bit, trying to forget. I bring my hand up to the lock on my locker and see that my hand is shaking. Jennifer is still staring at me.
"I don't need to use my locker right now." I say in a croaky voice. I clear my throat.
"Oh okay. Well let's see what your first lesson is." She looks down at my timetable and looks back up at me smirking.
"You've got Maths."

I really don't mind Maths unlike others who absolutely despise it. After Jennifer dropped me off at my class she left me to fend for myself. I was awkwardly standing outside when a plump teacher walked out and smiled at me. Mr Fletcher I think it was. It was hard to hear him because of the bustling of the students. He gestured for me to go in and when I walked in, I was surprised to see almost half of the class there already. On one side were the group of girls I had seen outside in the hall earlier and on the other side were just some random people.
There was one boy however that caught my attention. He was hunched over a book, reading. From what I could see, the side of his face was pretty cute. Not as in Liam cute but quite close. He was wearing glasses and his hair was slightly long just touching his shoulders. He looked up and our eyes met. They were brown, like chocolate. I smiled and walked over.
