Trumpton

Trumpton was a children's television series first shown on the BBC in the 1960s. Each episode began with the Trumpton clock.

"Here is the clock, the Trumpton clock.
Telling the time, steadily, sensibly,
Never too quickly, never too slowly.
Telling the time for Trumpton."

Come with me as we go round the streets
Meeting the people of Trumpton:

See here is the mayor, in his bright red robes
On the town hall steps with his new gold chain.
And his very first call is to build a big wall
To keep townsfolk safe; in Trumpton.

Town twinning's planned and is bound to be grand
When our new friends arrive from
the kremlin. There'll be snow on their boots
But a smile and a wave and greetings
From their Mr. Putin.

There are new shops planned
Where you can get a fake tan
And they cater for comb over hair.
And when you pop into town with shopping to do;
You should check out our gun shop too.

Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb;
The famous Trumpton firemen
Have all been put on call.
For there's some in the town of Trumpton;
And neighbouring towns as well
That strangely to tell
Don't like the new mayor
At all.

He's upset lots of ladies
And men who like men too
So we're sensing trouble in Trumpton
Before the story's through.
