Blake grumbled, flipping his pillow onto the cold side and snuggling back down into bed with an almighty sigh. Soft lips pressed against his neck and he groaned, batting them away, before they came back again.
“No,” he groaned, opening one eye, then the other.
“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Blakey, happy birthday to you.” Amelia sang softly, smiling down at him.
A slow grin stretched wide across his face as he leant up on his elbow to kiss her.
She kissed him back, leaning forward as he leant back. They pulled away breathless.
“Happy birthday, love of my life.” She smiled, “Your coffee is on the side table.”
He grinned, pecking her lips again, “Thank you baby.”
“Can I get your presents now?” she jumped up and down in excitement
“Ooft. Bloody hell Mia.” He groaned, as she bounced on his stomach.
“Sorry. Presents now?”
“Mia! I told you I didn’t want anything!”
She rolled her eyes, “Well, I was hardly going to listen to that, was I?” she got up and out of bed and slid the presents out from underneath.
“Mia!” he shouted, “All of those?!” he counted the six presents that she had pulled out and placed on the bed, beside him.
“Blake, just open the presents and don’t complain, or you’ll upset me.
He sighed, “Thank you baby.”
“Open that one first.” She pointed to the smallest present
He smiled and unwrapped it, “Wow Mia, Mechanical Bull? This is exactly what I wanted! Thank you!”
“I know how much you like the Kings of Leon, so I thought why not? The next one is related, so just open that one next?”
He ripped open the envelope and stared at her open mouthed, “Front row tickets to the tour? The actual freaking Kings of Leon tour! This isn’t until like next year! Mia!”
She grinned, “You like it?”
“I don’t know what to say, Mia!”
“Then don’t say anything. Open up the next one.”
“Alright then,” he unfolded the paper, “You have got to be kidding me! Mia, this is one of the most expensive whiskey’s I have ever—“
“Johnnie Walker Blue Label. It’s the right one? I tried it but the guy at the shop said you might like it.”
“Mia, this is all just… absolutely perfect.”
“This one next.” She smiled
He smiled, opening the paper and then his eyes went dark with lust, “You look so hot in this bikini.”
“You look hot shirtless.” She grinned cheekily, looking at the picture in the oak frame.
“This is going straight on my desk. To tell you the truth, the CD would have made my day, you have made my birthday, but all of this? Thank you.”
“Two more. Open… the little box first.”
He impatiently ripped open the paper and gasped for what seemed like the umpteenth time that day, “A Rolex? Mia, no, this is too much, I can’t take this! You’ve spent too much money already!”
“Oh, shut up you, look what’s on the inside.” She said
He flipped the watch over and read the inscribed message:
Forever thine, forever mine, forever ours. Mia. X
“Mia,” he groaned, kissing her hard, “I love you.”
She beamed, “And I you Blake.”
“Mm,” he kissed her again, “You taste so good.” He moved to kiss her once more but she pressed the final envelope to his lips.
“Open it up.” She grinned
He pouted, “Kiss me.”
“Not until you open the last present.” She said in a sing-song voice.
He eagerly opened the envelope and threw it to one side, smashing his lips against hers. She moaned, tugging on his hair.
And then they were lost.
He kissed up and down her neck, “Are we going to make this a regular morning thing? That was damn good!”
She laughed, reaching down to grab the envelope and handed it to him. He slipped out the piece of paper from the envelope.
“Mia, this is an itinerary for racing at Silverstone. You’ve wrapped the wrong thing.”
“Nope,” she smirked, “That’s right.”
His jaw dropped, “You’re serious? This isn’t some kind of joke?”
“Nope.” She grinned
He stared at her, then the paper, then back to her and then to the paper, “This has been my dream ever since I was a kid…” he whispered
“I know,” she said, “And now your dreams have come true.”
He looked at her, his eyes cloudy with suppressed desire, “You’re my dreams come true.”
She blushed, chewing on her lip, “Right back at you.”
“Mia, this is all just…” he breathed out, “We’re gonna have so much fun at Silverstone.”
She frowned, “Blake, I’m not going.”
“WHAT?!”
“Blake, this is a boys’ day out for you, Caleb and James. Racing and then drinks afterwards. It’s been organised for weeks.”
His brows furrowed, “But I thought we were spending today together…”
“You love this type of thing Blake, I don’t. You’ll have fun.”
“Not without you.”
She sighed, “Blake, you hardly ever go out with the boys, the last time you were all together properly was the Stag in Cali. Please go out, have a good time, you won’t even notice I’m gone.”
“I don’t know…” he wavered
“Please,” she pouted, “For me?”
He sighed, “Fine, but after racing, I’m coming straight home.”
“Not even one drink?” she whined
He exhaled again, “We’ll see how it goes.” He kissed her softly, “God, I love you Mia. This is all perfect, thank you so much baby.”
She grinned, “You’re welcome, it’s only my pleasure.”
He snapped around, “Your pleasure… I think we should deal with that right now.”
And for the second time that morning, they were lost.
“Kaitlin, has the drinks order come in yet?”
“Yeah, the guy brought about 20 boxes full about half an hour ago, he helped me to put up the bar in the great room, nice guy, kept staring at my behind, but anyway… Oh Mia, the pumpkins arrived. I put some on the kitchen counter, Mum is carving them now. We wanted to put them along the side of the front path.”
“Great,” Amelia nodded, “But no other evidence outside. No banners, no balloons, nothing, okay?”
“Yep.” She said, “Mia, what are you wearing tonight?”
She laughed, “That’s for me to know and you to find out.”
Kaitlin rolled her eyes, “Come on Mia, spill!”
The Crawford’s were preparing a surprise party for Blake later this evening. Seeing as tonight was Halloween, they thought the party could be themed, fancy dress. Crawford House was buzzing with action. Many people had been hired to help everything go smoothly, banners and balloons were being put up, props, decorations, photographs of Blake throughout the years supplied by Joseph and lights being delivered and the bar and barbecue being stocked up.
Amelia’s mother, Elizabeth, was in the kitchen, carving pumpkins and making food for the party.
“Hi Mum,” Amelia said, “What’re you making?”
“Finger food,” Elizabeth replied, “Literally.”
Amelia looked down at the finger shaped sandwiches filled with ham and oozing with salsa and ketchup for blood.
“Mum, that’s amazing.”
“All I have left to do is to ice the cake.”
“Kait!” Amelia shouted, “Can I have a time check until my dressing?”
“10 minutes!” Kaitlin replied
Amelia swore under her breath, “Mum, can you finish up down here?”
“Sure honey,” Elizabeth nodded, “You go on.”
“Thanks Mum!” Amelia kissed her cheek, running upstairs
*
“That was awesome!”
Blake couldn’t stop smiling. He’d just driven an amazing car at an amazing race track. It’d always been his dream, but he’d never had the time or connections to arrange it. Amelia and cars. His two favourites.
“Drinks are on me,” Caleb slapped Blake’s shoulder, “Happy birthday baby bro.”
“Drinks? No way, we’re going home, I want to see Mia.” Blake replied
“Oh man, don’t be such a killjoy, it’s your birthday, we are rolling in the drinks!” Caleb shouted
Blake frowned deeply, muttering something under his breath before sighing heavily, “I want to go and see Mia. I’ve waited long enough.”
James pulled out his phone, stepping away from the table, “I need to make a quick call.”
He stepped into a corner and after three rings the phone picked up.
“Hey big bro. What’s up?” Amelia chirped
“Blake’s not being exactly co-operative.”
“What?!” she exclaimed, “Why?”
“He was fine when we were racing, but for the last 20 minutes he’s been moaning that he wants to see you.”
“Well… stall him or something! James he cannot come back to the house yet! I’ll call you as soon as we’re ready. If he doesn’t want to stay in the bar… the sat nav took you the wrong way or something okay?”
“Alright, I’ll try my best Mia, but he’s not happy.”
“Tell him to suck it up and stop being so whipped. That’s an order. James, I’ve got to sort my hair. I’ll call you in an hour, keep Blake away from the house! Bye!”
She put down the phone.
James shook his head and returned to the table.
“Mia says suck it up and have a few more drinks.” James said
Blake’s eyes widened, “You talked to Mia?” he stood up, “Let’s go.”
“Nope. She told me explicitly not to let you leave until you’ve had at least two lagers.”
He frowned, “Fine. But make it quick.”
*
The car drew up outside Crawford House.
“Why are all the lights off?” Blake asked
“Erm- I don’t know,” James wavered, “Mia and Kaitlin are probably having a girly night in… yeah, that’s it… a Halloween Girly Night In.”
Blake frowned, “Right, let’s go inside then.”
Blake opened the door of the car and slammed it shut.
“Alright Mr Grumpy! Jeez, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!” Caleb scoffed.
“I just miss my girlfriend,” Blake grumbled, “I want to see her. I’ve waited long enough.”
“But you enjoyed today?” James asked
A grin appeared on Blake’s face, “Racing was a blast today.”
“Awesome,” James nodded, beginning to walk up the path.
“Come on!” Blake pushed him lightly, “Hurry up!”
“Alright, alright, calm down! You are so damn impatient!”
“When it comes to Mia, yes, I am, now open the damn door!”
James fumbled with the keys, finally getting it into the lock.
Blake stepped in front of James and into the house.
“Mia! Mia, baby!” he turned and flicked on the lights.
“SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLAKE!”
Blake jumped a mile in the air at everyone who’d appeared from behind furniture and out of cupboards.
James chuckled loudly, clapping him on the shoulder, “Happy birthday man.”
Blake laughed in disbelief, “How? Who? I.. I …Thank you… everyone, even though you just scared me half to death, I appreciate you all being here… thank you.” He paused, “Wait, where’s Mia?”
“So I said, ‘No way, what the hell do you take this for?’ and he said he couldn’t change the price by a penny, so I said – hey! Why didn’t anyone call me?! Damn, I missed it!”
Blake’s eyes snapped to the stairs and his jaw fell open. Amelia was dressed to kill in an all-in-one body stocking, her breasts half-covered with a lacy material built into the stocking. There was a thin strip of lace down her legs that seemed to go on for miles and miles and also a small amount on her shoulders. She had dyed her hair a vibrant chocolate brown, rimmed her eyes with thick kohl and painted her lips a deep scarlet. She customised the look with a pair of six inch black stilettos.
“Holy…” Blake gasped
A small smile graced her lips as she stepped from the last step and towards him. His eyes went up and down, greedily taking in her figure. She placed both hands on his on his shoulders.
“Happy birthday handsome.” She whispered, brushing her lips across his cheek before very lightly kissing it and pulling away.
He groaned softly, pulling her towards him, trying to steal a kiss.
“Ah, ah, ah.” She covered his lips with her fingers
Blake frowned.
“Someone get the birthday boy a drink,” she purred, “Preferably a scotch. And turn the music up!”
The music began to boom through the stereos.
She sauntered away through the crowd, Blake’s eyes following her all the way.
“Damn,” he cursed, “Jeez…” he ran his fingers through his hair
“Hey, Mr I-Can’t-Put-My-Tongue-Back-In-My-Mouth! Go upstairs and get changed, your clothes are out on the bed in the guest room.” James said
Blake gaped at the spot Mia had just vacated, “But I-Mia-damn.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” Caleb said, “I know, she’s hot, right? But the sooner you can see her.”
Blake looked at Caleb and bolted up the stairs.
Amelia was dancing when she felt two strong arms wrap around her.
“Hello sexy.”
She purred, relaxing into his arms, “Hello handsome.” She turned
Blake was wearing black dress trousers, black dress shoes, an open collared white shirt and a long grey night robe. He’d styled his hair back again. H-O-T. Hot!
He had fake blood dripping down his chin.
“And what are you then?”
He bared his teeth, showing two long canines.
She grinned, “The Undead. I like.”
His eyes trailed up and down her to notice she’d added a top hat and riding crop to her look.
“Is that riding crop for later?” Blake commented making her blush.
“Baby, that wasn’t rhetorical.” Blake said
“It wasn’t my intention.” Amelia blushed
“God, you have no idea how much I want to make love to you right now,” he groaned, “Did you wear this on purpose just to tease me for the whole night?”
“Is it working?” she purred
He pressed up against her, “You tell me,” her eyes widened as he licked the side of her neck.
“You taste incredible,” he groaned, “Let’s go to bed.”
“Blake!” she slapped his hands away, “All these guests are here for you.”
“Exactly, it’s my party, I can do whatever I want,” he shouted above the music, “Bed. I’ve missed you baby and I want to make it up to you for the other day.”
She moaned, “As enticing as that sounds.”
He began to suck on her neck, “Surrender.”
“Mia?” a voice called out
Amelia’s eyes flew open as she studied the man’s face, before a grin spread across hers, “Will?” she rushed towards him, “Will!”
The guy was tall, around 6’4, slim but muscular, dressed in all black, his dark hair was messy and he had stubble on his cheeks.
“Will, I haven’t seen you in years! What… how are you here? Why didn’t you visit me? Oh, look how much you’ve changed!” Amelia gushed
He laughed, stepping back, “I’m in the area! I’m an estate agent now! And how much I’ve changed? What happened to the geeky girl with glasses that gave me half of her ham sandwiches when I forgot my lunch on the first day of high school? Damn Mia, you look… hot!”
She giggled, “Well, you don’t look so bad yourself, handsome! Look at you, all muscle and sinew and boyish charm!”
He chuckled, “Oh Mimi, you haven’t changed a bit!”
Blake was seething. It was only now he realised that outfit was very revealing on his girlfriend. He didn’t like the look this so-called Will was giving his woman… and Mimi? He sure as hell didn’t like that. Not one bit!
“The last time I saw you… was what…10 years ago?” Mia thought
“Yeah, it’s been ages Mia… so where’s Nick? God, I was jealous as hell of that dude ever since he asked you out.” Will shook his head wistfully
Amelia paled, “Will…Nick and I split nine years ago.”
“What? Why?” Will questioned
“Will…Nick…he hit me… more than once… he abused me for two years…he almost killed me.”
“You what?” Will spluttered, “Mia! I’ll kill him!”
Amelia smiled sadly, “Will, honestly, there’s no need for that. He’s not around anymore and I’m fine, I’m here, aren’t I?”
He frowned, “You’re sure?”
“Positive.” She nodded
A smile tugged at his lips, “Does this mean you’re available?”
Alright, that’s it!
“Hey baby,” Blake waked to Amelia’s side, capturing her lips in a kiss. He leaned into her, deepening the kiss. Normally, this didn’t happen, but he had to show this…Will, that Amelia Crawford belonged to Blake Goldstein and nothing would stop that.
Will’s eyes widened as Blake pulled away, kissing Amelia’s forehead.
“What was that all about?” Amelia panted, trying to catch her breath
Blake shrugged in faux confusion, “I missed you today, that’s all.” He tucked a strand of her new chocolate brown locks behind her ear, “Who’s this, baby?” he looked to Will.
“Blake, this is Will Vega, my best friend from high school, Will this is my boyfriend, Blake Goldstein.” Amelia grinned
“Goldstein?” Will gaped, “As in Goldstein Enterprises?”
“The very same.” Blake drawled, “A pleasure to meet you Mr Vega.”
“Please call me Will.” Will smiled
“Will,” Blake said dryly before turning to Amelia, “Want to dance baby?”
Amelia smiled, “Sure thing.” Blake held his hand out to hers and she accepted, “Will, stay for a while, have a drink, there’s plenty of girls for you to chat up.”
Will winked, “You’re the only girl for me Mimi.”
Blake supressed a growl. Calm down Goldstein! She can have guy friends! She loves you!
Justin Timberlake’s ‘Take Back the Night.’ began to play out of the stereos.
“Blake, I love this song! Dance with me!”
Blake span her around, before pulling her flush into his arms, making her giggly wildly.
“Oh Mia, I love to hear you laugh,” Blake grinned, moving his body against hers.
She grinned broadly, dancing and grinding to the beat.
“You and this…Will seem very familiar…” he commented
“Blake, he was like, my best friend at school! It’s so great to see him after all these years. We had…” she trailed off, “Wait a second… Blake Christopher Goldstein, are you jealous?”
“No.” he lied
“You are!” she exclaimed
“Okay, okay, okay, I’m jealous, big deal. You’re my girlfriend and you’re dressed in about the sexiest thing I have ever seen you wear. Of course I’m going to be jealous of some guy I’ve just met who can’t keep his eyes off you.”
Amelia laughed, “Blake, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.”
“And why’s that? I know men Mia, I am one!”
She giggled, “Because Will Vega is about as straight as a curved edge.”
“What?”
“He’s gay Blake!”
“Then why…” Blake frowned, “He asked if you were available and then you told him to go chat up girls!”
She shook her head, “It was a long-running joke when we were at school, it has been since fourth year. In first year he told me he loved me, but realised soon enough I saw him as just a friend. He came out in fourth year.”
“Are you serious? That guy is gay?”
“Will is… Will. So yes,” Amelia smiled, “So if anything I have something to worry about, not you.”
“What?!” Blake exclaimed, “He’s… I’m… no!”
Amelia giggled, kissing him softly, “Relax, baby, I’m kidding.”
He groaned, “You are such a tease.” He kissed her in return
“I’m gonna go and check on Will, see if he’s socialising. Baby, so many people are looking for you to say happy birthday, go and chat.” She encouraged
“I can’t believe you did all of this yourself…” he replied
“Yes I did, with help obviously… stop trying to change the subject!”
“Okay,” he pouted, kissing her chastely, “Love you.”
“I love you too.” She smiled, pulling away and weaving through the throngs of people.
She found Will leaning against the bar.
“What’s your poison Mimi? Still on the apple cider?”
She cringed, “In my stupid teenage days. No… vodka tonic please.”
Will signalled to the barman before turning back to Amelia, “Where’s that man candy of yours?”
Amelia giggled, “Will Vega, you haven’t changed a bit. He’s saying hello to all of his guests. The place is packed.”
“Hmm… he can say hello to me anytime… Mia? Where you’re done with him, can I have him?”
Amelia laughed, “I’ll never be done, he’s mine and straighter than a pole. I was teasing him about it on the dance floor. He was jealous about how touchy we were until I told him you don’t swing that way.”
“I could be touchy with him so he doesn’t feel left out,” Will grinned cheekily, “All that charisma and gentlemanly demeanour, he oozes it.”
Amelia smiled indulgently, “I know.”
“Talk of the handsome devil!” Will muttered
Amelia sensed Blake at her shoulder and turned around. He grinned.
“Everyone looks incredible in their fancy dress. Kaitlin’s a cat, your mom is Wonder Woman, and James decided to be a dead firefighter so he could put his chest on display but Kait doesn’t seem to be complaining.” Blake grinned, “Everyone looks great.”
“Indeed,” Will said, giving Blake the once over, “Fancy a dance birthday boy?”
Blake’s eyes bulged and he went completely red.
“I—I—I – dance?”
Will began to laugh, “Relax pretty boy, I’m messing with ‘ya. Catch you later Mimi.”
He walked off, but turned back, slapping Blake’s behind before disappearing into the crowd.
Blake choked on his own saliva and began a coughing fit by the bar. Mia ordered him a glass of water to calm down.
“He just slapped me! There!” Blake was outraged
“Jeez Blakey, calm down,” she giggled, “He was joking!”
“Calm down? Calm down!”
Amelia laughed, “Well at least you know you have another option if all else fails.”
“We are going upstairs now and I’ll show you that is very much not an option,” Blake growled, his eyes darkening, “I’ve wanted this all evening, and you, Miss Crawford… look very delectable.”
She bit down on her lip, “Lead the way.”
“So, how was racing?”
“You want to talk about racing after that performance?” Blake panted, “I thought we were going for Round 2?”
“Tell me,” she smiled, “I’m interested.”
“Racing was absolutely incredible. We got to drive the fastest track car and did this spin, like the one you see in the movies. Then we got to pick our own car, I picked the Yellow Ferrari, and I was clocked at 250mph. Obviously I won.”
“250mph!” Amelia exclaimed, “Blake you could have killed yourself!”
“Relax Blondie! I’m fine, aren’t I?”
“I know but—“
“Shh, honestly Mia, baby, you worry too much.” He leant over and kissed her.
“I worry because I care.” She pouted
Blake grinned, “Oh baby, I know the feeling, trust me. You know how much I worry about you when you’re not by my side. I missed you so much today. You’ve planned this all day?”
“Yeah. That’s why I had to get you out of the house. Silverstone was the perfect distraction. Everyone helped out today. It took absolutely ages to get everything right.”
“I loved it all baby, it was perfect,” he kissed her lips, “Thank you for everything, for today, you don’t know how much I appreciate it all.”
“Hmm…” she stretched out her tired muscles, “I wouldn’t mind Round 2 now.”
He grinned salaciously, “Oh baby, game on…”
He skimmed his nose along her jaw, “You are so damn sexy Mia Crawford, I want you so badly.”
“Then take me…” she breathed heavily, “I’m yours.”
“Yes ma’am.”
He groaned, lowering his lips to hers.
