More random childhood moments because I have writer's block, wooo. This one features Sonnet and Will (Friend Zoned/Changing Will), Dimitri and Kim (Outside The Lines), Ethan (Friend Zoned/Changing Will), Theo and Thalia (Outside The Lines), and Nick (The Fag Swag). 3 of those were by request. Also, I did another for Dimitri because...well because I love Dimitri and I like trying to picture him as a child XD So, enjoy!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#1- Sonnet and Will Duvet

“Will! What are you doing?” 5 year old Sonnet asked.

“Playing. Go away,” 8 year old Will said. He was lying on the ground, building the Star Wars death star out of legos.

“I want to play!” Sonnet said eagerly, sitting down with her older brother and reaching for a lego.

Will smacked her hand away, scowling at her. “No. Go away!”

Sonnet pouted at her brother. “I want to play!”

“I don’t want to play with you,” Will said, sticking his tongue out at her. “So go away, brat.”

“Mommy said not to call me brat!” Sonnet said, reaching for the legos again.

Will grabbed her hand and pushed it away from the legos. He pulled the legos over to himself protectively.

“Go away Sonnet!” Will whined. “I’m not playing with you, brat. You’re too stupid.”

“You jerk!” Sonnet cried, standing up and kicking the death star, sending legos spraying everywhere.

Will stared in shock. “Hey!” he said furiously. He had just spent the past half hour working on that!

He glared up at his sister. “Run,” he snarled, reaching over and grabbing one of his toy lightsabers.

Sonnet yelped and raced out of the room. Will pushed himself to his feet, chasing after his little sister, gripping the hilt of his toy lightsaber tightly.

Sonnet ran upstairs, desperately searching for her mother or father. But, sadly, Grace and Leo Duvet were nowhere to be found.

                “Got you now brat!”

She spun around. Will advanced at her, pushing his dark hair out of his eyes and raising the lightsaber.

Sonnet turned and ran through the kitchen, looping around and making her way back downstairs. She darted into Will’s bedroom and slammed the door. She fumbled with the lock on the door, but Will pushed it open before she could lock it.

Sonnet let out a scream and jumped backwards. She spotted one of his other toy lightsabers and jumped at it.

“Drop it brat!” Will commanded, pointing his lightsaber at her.

“No!” Sonnet said, clumsily holding the lightsaber and shooting her big brother a warning look.

“What is going on in here?” Grace Duvet demanded, pushing Will’s door open.

                “Will’s being mean!” Sonnet said.

“Sonnet kicked my legos!” Will said.

“Drop those lightsabers right now! Both of you!” Grace said, placing her hands on her hips and shooting them both a stern look.

Will scowled and let the lightsaber fall to the ground. He sulked over to Sonnet, holding his hand out.

“Give it to me,” he commanded.

Sonnet looked at the toy in her hands before whacking Will in the ribs with it. He yelped and leapt away from her, rubbing his ribs.

“That’s for calling me stupid,” Sonnet said triumphantly, dropping the lightsaber to the ground.

“Sonnet!” her mother cried in horror. She hurried over to Will, pulling his shirt up and inspecting the bruise forming on him. “Oh, William, are you okay?!”

“You brat!” Will snapped, the scowl reappearing on his face. What right did Sonnet have to hit him like that? He was 8 years old! He was practically an adult, and she was just some stupid 5 year old kid!

“Stop it! Both of you!” Grace said. She pulled Will’s shirt down and sighed. “Will, those lightsabers are not to be used as weapons! Don’t chase your sister with them!” She turned to Sonnet and went over, lifting the little girl into her arms. “And you? You’re going in time out. You don’t hit your brother!”

As her mother carried her out of the room, Sonnet stuck her tongue out at her brother. The jerk thought he was too good to play with her.

Will rubbed his ribs, sitting on the floor and scowling at his legos. “She’s the devil,” he grumbled, picking up a lego and beginning to rebuild his previous creation.

#2- Dimitri and Kim

Alexei Ivanov pushed open the door to his son’s room. Dimitri was pulling his hair into spikes on his head, his hands lightly coated in hair gel.

“Are you almost ready for school Dimmy?” he asked. It wasn’t a traditional Russian nickname, but Alek had always called Dimitri that, and Dimitri seemed to like the nickname.

Dimitri looked up and nodded. “Yes, father.”

“Are you nervous? It’s your first day at a new school,” Alexei said.

“I’m not nervous,” Dimitri said with a shrug, pulling up the last bit of loose hair into a spike.

Alexei took in his appearance. The 8 year old boy was wearing tight, bright green jeans, a pink shirt with a yellow vest over it, and purple Converse. His light brown hair was styled in messy spikes.

“Do you think I’m weird, dad?” Dimitri asked, a grin tugging at his lips as he glanced at his reflection in the mirror. “You’re staring at me.”

“I don’t think you’re weird,” Alexei said honestly. “I think you’re expressive.” He and his wife had discussed Dimitri’s appearance many times, wondering if they should try to be more controlling over what he wore. But in the end, they had agreed to let him dress how he pleased, so long as he was happy.

“Come along, Dimitri. You’re going to be late,” he said, holding his hand out to his son. Dimitri had a terrible habit of being late to everything.

Dimitri grabbed his backpack and slung it over his shoulder. He eyed his father hand before taking it, letting his dad lead him downstairs.

“Here’s your lunch. Have a good first day at your new school Dimitri,” his mother, Eva, said, kissing his cheek and hugging him. “I love you. Be good.”

Dimitri took his lunch from his mom. “Thank you, mother.”

He went outside with his dad, where Alek was already waiting in the car. He climbed in the backseat with her, putting his lunch in his backpack.

“Do you have to dress like that? You weirdo,” she said.

“You wish you could look as good as me, honey,” Dimitri said, winking at her.

“Freak,” she said with a pout. “Just remember what we talked about.”

“We’re not related, I don’t know you, and if I talk to you, you’ll make me regret it,” he said, laughing a little. “You should be proud to claim me as your brother, Aleksandra. Look at me. I’m wonderful.”

Alek rolled her eyes and promptly ignored her brother. Their father got in the car and drove the two of them to school. He pulled into the parking lot, glancing back at them. They had recently moved, and now the kids had to start at a new school in the middle of the year. He felt bad for them.

“Good luck you two. I love you. Have a good day,” he said.

They got out of the car and Alek hurried away from Dimitri before anyone saw them together. Dimitri went into his new school, going through the hallway until he reached his classroom. The bell rang and he glanced around the hallway before shrugging and letting himself into the room.

“Dimitri Ivanov,” the teacher, Mrs. Winkler, said. She had met him and his parents the day before. “Come in, dear.” She tried not to stare at the strange little boy as he walked over to her.

“Class, this is Dimitri. He’s our new student. Please be nice to him,” she said. “Dimitri, you can just go sit over there.”

Dimitri went over to the desk she had pointed to, ignoring the stares he was receiving. He sat down and paid attention until it was time for lunch.

He sat down at a table by himself, pulling out his lunch and his notebook. He began to draw in his notebook.

                “Hey.”

He looked up as a little girl sat down across from him. “You’re the new kid,” she said.

“Indeed I am,” Dimitri said with a nod.

“You talk funny. Not just your words, either. You have an accent,” the girl said.

                “I’m Russian,” Dimitri said.

“You’re hard to understand,” the girl said.

“I’ll try to talk without it, then,” Dimitri said with a shrug.

                “I’m Kim,” she said.

“Dimitri,” he said, mentally reminding himself to try to speak without his accent. He knew people had trouble understanding his words.

                “You’re short,” she said, giggling.

It was true. Dimitri was very short for an 8 year old. He had always been a runt, and his parents were worried that he would always be short.

“Thank you for pointing that out,” he said.

“Wow, that’s a good drawing,” Kim said, peeking at his notebook.

“It’s alright,” he said. “Could be a lot better.”

“You’re weird,” Kim announced, eyeing him.

“Jealous?” he asked, grinning and gesturing to himself.

“Nah, I’m not jealous. I just think you’re weird. But I kind of like you,” she said curiously. “You’re interesting, huh?”

“Not interesting. Just fabulous, dear,” he said, grinning wider.

                Kim giggled. “Dear?”

“Got a problem with it, Kim dear?” he asked.

“Nope. Let’s be friends. I don’t think I’ll get bored if I’m with you,” Kim said, a similar grin on her face.

“Friendship accepted,” Dimitri said, a mischievous gleam in his frosty eyes. He could tell this would be interesting.

#3- Ethan

“Recess time!” Mr. Lars announced, clapping his hands together.

The kids cheered and got up from their seats, following Mr. Lars outside and down to the playground. They raced over to the play set eagerly.

6 year old Ethan watched them. He turned and made his way to the swing set, sitting down on one of the three swings. He gripped the chains tightly, watching the other kids as they laughed and played together.

He dropped his gaze to his shoes, lightly swaying forward and backwards on the swing. He wanted to play with them, but every time he tried, they just made fun of him and chased him away.

                “Hey, we want to swing.”

He looked up and paled a little as he met the impossibly black eyes of Jude Tibbits. Jude and his best friend, Nate, stood there with their other friend Garrett.

“I’m swinging,” Ethan said and gestured to the two other swings.

Jude made him nervous. The boy was far taller than him, and he was mean. His mother once told him that Jude was a no good, spoiled brat.

“There are three of us. Can’t you count?” Jude asked, crossing his arms. “Get up. We want the swings.”

“Jude, I hope you’re not picking on Ethan. He was on the swings first,” Mr. Lars said, coming over.

“He’s not even swinging!” Nate argued.

“He was here first, boys,” Mr. Lars said.

“Mr. Lars! Mr. Lars! Victoria fell down and hurt her knee!” a little girl cried, running up to the teacher.

“Okay, Maria. I’ll be right there,” Mr. Lars said. He shot a warning look at Jude, Nate, and Garrett. “Behave, boys. I’ll be right back.”

He turned and followed Maria down to the play set. Jude turned to Ethan and promptly shoved the smaller boy off of the swings.

Ethan hit the ground and winced. He clenched his fists and stood up, moving towards Jude. But it was no use.

Nate and Jude pushed him back down together, laughing at him. Ethan stood up, glaring at them as they sat down on the swings with Garrett.

“Did you boys force him off of the swings?” Mr. Lars demanded when he came back.

“No. Ethan said we could have the swings,” Jude said innocently.

“Did you really say that, Ethan?” Mr. Lars asked. He had Victoria standing behind him, a boy named Gideon standing with her. Her knee was lightly bleeding. Gideon was comforting Victoria as she rubbed at her wet eyes.

“Yes,” Ethan said quietly, dropping his gaze.

“I’ll be right back. We’re taking Victoria to the nurse’s office. Ms. Connor will keep an eye on all of you,” Mr. Lars said, leading the two children inside.

The three boys on the swings stuck their tongue out at Ethan and laughed. Ethan turned and hurried away from them.

He hid himself in the bushes, pulling his knees up to his chest. His vision blurred with tears, and they leaked over onto his cheeks. He buried his face in his hands, sobbing quietly.

“Why are they so mean to me?” he whispered. He just wanted someone to be nice to him, just once. He hated being left out all the time.

He wiped at his eyes, trying to stop crying. The other kids were always mean to him, and he hated it. He hated it so much.

“I just want someone to be nice. Just once. Just a friend,” he whimpered, hugging his knees tightly, wishing he could curl up and disappear. “Just a friend.”

#4- Theo and Thalia Light

                “Mommy!”

                “Mommy!”

6 year old twins Theo and Thalia Light raced up to their mother. Amelia Light sighed and looked down at her children.

                “Yes?” she asked.

“We’re bored,” they said at the same time.

“Oliver can’t come over today, mommy. He’s still sick,” Theo said.

“I know, dear. Why don’t you two go play outside? It’s nice out. Go play outside and I’ll make you lunch,” Amelia said.

                “Okay!” the twins cried.

They made their way out of the backdoor to the backyard. The two of them looked around in search of something to do.

“Hey Thalia! Come here,” Theo said, grabbing her hand and pulling her over to the pool.

“Theo! Mommy and daddy said we’re not supposed to play near the pool!” Thalia argued, trying to tug her brother away from it.

But Theo shook his head at her. “No, it’s okay. Just come on!”

He dragged her to the water slide they had. He picked up a ball and darted around to the other side of the pool.

“Catch!” he called and threw the ball over to Thalia.

She caught it, nervously looking at the windows on the house. They would get in trouble if their parents saw them playing by the pool.

“Theo this is a bad idea!” Thalia said.

“Just throw the ball Thalia!” he said. He grinned at her. “I bet you can’t throw it over the pool, ‘cause you’re just a girl.”

She glared at him and chucked the ball across the pool with ease. Theo ran to catch it, but found himself slipping and falling over.

He let out a yell, which was cut off as he landed in the pool. His head broke the surface of the water, arms and legs flailing wildly as he gasped for breath. He could hear Thalia screaming for their parents as he slipped under the water again.

He flailed, trying to get to the top of the pool again, unable to hold his breath for long. Panic settled in him.

He tried to scream as something touched him. He fought against whatever was now grabbing him, terrified.

But then his head broke the surface and he gasped for breath. He stopped flailing as he realized that his father was holding him.

“You’re okay,” Jared Light soothed as Theo started crying in his arms.

“I told him not to play by the pool!” Thalia said, looking scared.

“Daddy!” Theo cried, sobbing and wrapping his arms around his father’s neck.

Jared swam to the side of the pool and passed Theo up to his wife. Amelia pulled him into her arms, hugging him tightly.

“You idiot!” she cried, stroking his hair. “You idiot, Theodore! We told you not to play by the pool!” She held him to herself, ignoring the fact that he was drenched. Theo never listened to her or her husband. She could never tell if the kid was rebellious, or just plain stupid. Either way, he was going to give her a heart attack one of these days.

Jared climbed out of the pool, grabbing towels out of the pool house. He wrapped one around Theo, and one around himself.

Amelia kissed Theo’s cheek, stroking his hair again as he started to calm down. She carefully sat him down on a chair, gesturing at Thalia to sit next to him. Thalia did so, looking at her parents nervously as her brother sniffed, wiping at his eyes.

“When we say don’t go near the pool, it means don’t go near the pool!” Amelia snapped, hands on her hips.

                “Sorry,” Theo whimpered.

“Theodore Taylor Light, Thalia Theresa Light, if you ever play near that pool again, you will regret it,” Amelia snarled, more scared than angry.

She sighed and pulled Theo back into her arms, hugging him tightly. “No more playing by the pool,” she repeated, carrying him inside. She changed him clothes and sat him down on the bed he shared with Thalia.

“Now, what aren’t you going to do?” she asked.

“Play by the pool. I won’t play by the pool mommy,” Theo said.

“Good boy. But you’re still in trouble for today,” she said and left his room.

Thalia came in a minute later and went up to Theo. “You’re dumb,” she announced.

“Shut up Thalia!” Theo said, pouting. “I didn’t mean to fall.”

“Dumb,” Thalia repeated. “Boys are so dumb.”

Theo stuck his tongue out at her. She climbed next to him on the bed and playfully shoved him.

“I’m glad you’re okay,” she said.

“Can we stay away from the pool?” he asked timidly.

                “Sure,” she said. “But Theo…”

                “Yea Thalia?”

                “You’re still dumb.”

Theo groaned. She was never going to let him live this down.

#5- Nick Bradley

“Mommy, where’s daddy?” 5 year old Nick asked.

“Daddy is on his way home Nicky!” Morgan Bradley assured.

Nick wandered over to the window, pressing his hands against it and glancing out for any sign of his father. He grew excited as he saw the car pull into the driveway.

“Mommy, he’s home! Daddy’s home!” Nick cried.

He pushed past his mother, rushing downstairs as the front door opened. He launched into his father’s arms, causing David Bradley to stumble backwards as he caught Nick.

“Hi Nicky,” David said with a small smile. He lifted Nick into his arms and carried him inside.

“Hi daddy!” Nick said, kissing his father’s cheek.

David’s smile turned sad and he hugged Nick to himself, carrying him upstairs. Morgan frowned at him.

                “What’s wrong David?” she asked.

“We arrested a child abuser. Sick fuc- Sick freak hit his own kid,” David said, holding Nick closer and kissing his cheek.

“Ow!” he cried and winced as his wife hit him. “What was that for?”

“Don’t use naughty language in front of my Nicky!” Morgan said sternly.

“I caught myself in time!” David whined.

Nick giggled as he watched his parents. David sighed and set Nick down, ruffling his hair affectionately.

“Come on, Nicky. Come with me to the store,” David said, taking Nick’s hand in his.

                “Okay!” Nick said.

He followed his father out to the car. The two drove to the store together and Nick followed his father inside.

“What are we getting daddy?” Nick asked.

“We’re getting meat for dinner,” David said, his eyes scanning for what he needed. “Why don’t you go grab orange juice for me, Nicky.”

“Okay daddy!” Nick said and made his way across the store towards the drinks. He always went shopping with his parents, so he knew where the orange juice was.

He turned the corner, running into a woman. He stumbled backwards and frowned up at the woman.

                “Sorry!” he said.

“It’s alright,” the woman said with a kind smile. “What are you doing wandering around by yourself?”

“I’m getting orange juice for my daddy!” Nick said.

“Well, just be more careful when you’re walking. You don’t want to get hurt!” the woman said before walking away.

Nick went over to the orange juice and struggled to reach for it. He felt frustrated, as his arms were just a little too short to reach.

“Here you go kid,” a teenager said, noticing the struggling little blond boy. He grabbed the orange juice and handed it to Nick.

“Thanks!” Nick said gratefully, holding the orange juice with both hands.

“Yea, no problem kid,” the teen said.

Nick cheerfully carried the orange juice back to the spot where he had left his father. He froze, realizing that his dad wasn’t there.

“Daddy?” he called, scanning around. He found himself panicking when he couldn’t find his dad.

His eyes watered and he gripped the orange juice tightly. Where had his dad gone? Had he left him?

                “Nicky!”

Nick spun around. “Daddy!” he cried, setting the juice down and running to his father.

David hugged him, stroking his hair soothingly. “Hey, don’t cry Nick. I was just down the aisle over there, okay?”

Nick wiped at his eyes. “I couldn’t find you.”

“I’m sorry buddy. I should’ve waited until you got back. But I’m right here. I would never leave you, okay?” David said gently.

Nick snuggled against his father. “I love you daddy.”

“I love you too Nicky,” David said, kissing his son.
