General POV

Weiss woke up to the sight of Ruby close to her. She slept next to her last night and...and they were alive.

The mermaid can recall that they were chased down by Emerald Sturai. An assassin. Now they were hiding because of the reason that neither if them wanted to die. It was that simple.

"Ruby...wake up." Weiss gently nudged the brunette, nuzzling her face by her chest.

From the looks of it, Ruby stayed up looking after her despite the both of them being on the run. Ruby needed more energy than she does.

"Oh Ruby Rose..." She grew fond of the girl for the past days. She cared, believed, and tried to understand the girl and her circumstances. Weiss appreciated her efforts and it made her felt relieved.

Cupping the brunette's cheek, Weiss sang softly. Inside her, she felt her energy transfer to Ruby, a soft red glow engulfing her hand. Weiss ended after a few minutes, a soft smile on her lips.

"That should help you feel better." Weiss muttered to herself and waited for the brunette to wake.

When she did, Weiss had already done several types of braids with her hair. She greeted Ruby with a smile and a hug. "Good morning."

"Hmmmm..." Ruby groaned and hugged the mermaid, making her quite flustered.

Weiss smiled and hugged her back, blissful as she liked the sensation of being held gingerly in Ruby's arms.

"Ruby..?" Weiss poked the girl's cheek a few several times before she responded by arching her brow. "Wake up."

Today, they had to go back to their house in hope that no one will follow them there. Before they do, she wanted to check the boarders of the city that was close to the sea. Something tells her that if such a place existed, it might be able to help her with a few things. Like who her real mother is or what is it she was really looking for.

"Ruby..." Weiss poked Ruby's cheek repetitively as she tried to wake her with the involvement of her semblance nor water. "Wake up, you dolt."

The brunette smiled as she heard Weiss' morning greeting. "Good morning to you too, snowflake. How are you feeling?"

Truth be told, she wasn't feeling good as she was nervous with going out but they have to leave for now. "I'm fine. We have to go, you dolt. We've been out the whole night."

Upon hearing this, Ruby couldn't help but groan and look at Weiss with worry. She's the one hunted not her. How is she dealing with this..?

"Are you sure you want to go...?" The brunette asked as she worried for her dear friend.

"Yes. It would be no use to remain in one place." She replied as a fact. Even she was pained to leave the safety of the small room because they will be found again.

"Well, let's freshen up before we go." Ruby suggested. Weiss pulled away and got up in silence while the brunette stretched out.

As Ruby suggested, both of them soon got up, freshened up and ate before paying up and leaving. Seeing they walked, more like ran for their lives, to get to the inn, they had to go back the same way under the morning sun but the breeze form the sea made it cooler for a sunny day.

Weiss smiled as she walked on the street, feeling nothing from Emerald's presence compared to the night before but the air still hung with threat as they walked, Ruby staying close to the girl's side all of the time as she felt the same. It was as if last night's threat was merely to startle the mermaid from where she is now.

As they walked, they passed by a faded white washed steel fence where a dirt path was on the ground, the earth on the path rid with seashells and from a far, a white mansion stood behind overgrown gardens. Even from where Weiss stood, she can smell the ocean mist, the crisp air of the sea and the way the place called to the girl...it made her curious as she looked at it longer.

"Weiss?" Wondering why the girl turned to the abandoned property like it was the most fascinating place in the world, Ruby held Weiss' hand and looked at the property herself, examining in hope to see what her friend was looking at.

The mermaid fished out the key given by her mother and looked at the unusual locks of the gates. "Ruby...recall what I said? That I'm searching for something here...on land...?" Weiss turned to Ruby, icy blue orbs meeting silver ones with amazement.

Ruby does recall that she mentioned that she was looking for something but what it was was not something she asked herself. Up to this moment...

"Yes." Ruby replied and glanced once more at the mansion behind her. "Does this have something to do with this house..?"

"We'll find out." Before she knew it, Weiss' hair flicked under her nose as she used the key on the locks of the gate and she watched in awe as it unlocked it, the rusty gate swinging open but Ruby took in the scene for a while because it was unbelievable.

That once abandoned front of the property bloomed to the beautiful scene it once had as if it came to life when Weiss opened it. The green grass trimmed, the path littered with white shells, the trees vibrant, flowers blooming and the scent of the sea grew stronger but Ruby was watching Weiss as she watched it herself.

"M-Mother...Mother wanted me to find her home. She wanted me to find this place..." Weiss muttered to herself as she looked around. Ruby was aghast to see Weiss so amazed and relieved at the same time as she broke to tears.

Moments earlier, they were worried with their safety. At the moment, they were not too curious as they stood at the opening of the property. Behind them, the gate closed itself. Weiss wasn't surprised with that but she took it as a sign to venture out to the property she unlocked with her key.

Stepping further in, she looked around more, silent and observing...listening an Ruby followed behind her until Weiss started singing with tears falling down her face. It was beautiful and heartbreaking as Ruby listened but she stayed close with Weiss as she looked around for something.

"Weiss...welcome home."

That's when she heard the voice she's been wanting to hear. The one she's been waiting for years.

Ruby watched and Weiss broke down by her side, her tears hitting the ground and her wails, heart breaking. Ruby knew why. She was seeing what would happen to her when she herself sees her mom one last time. She recognized the pain in her voice, knew from the girl's cries how much she missed the woman who gave birth to her gave her love despite not staying next to her.

"Mother...." Weiss muttered as she held the key close to her heart. "I...I miss you. I want to see you..." She cried. Ruby couldn't help but tear up as Weiss cried in pain and yearning of her mother's touch.

Craddling Weiss in her arms, Ruby held her as if she was holding Weiss together before she breaks. Knowing real yearning, she did her best to hush the girl's cries.  She didn't mutter a word as sea breeze rustled the grass, the wind having chimes ever so faint as if it was coming from the sea.

The merprincess cried until her tears ran out. Turning to Ruby, she looked heartbroken but Ruby gave her a hopeful smile before kissing her forehead. She then nuzzled at Ruby's neck, her arm around the girl, hugging her back.

Thankful, Weiss stayed that way for minutes until she felt better. Looking up at Ruby, she gave her a gentle smile.

"Ruby...I would never find this without you. Thank you. Thank you so much..." Weiss gave back the girl's kiss on her forehead which made the brunette grin.

"That's what friends are for, Weiss." She replied and hugged Weiss once more which she gladly did to her as well.

"Should we check it out? A place like this...fit for a princess..~"

That made Weiss chuckle. "I would be glad to, Ruby."

Together, they stood and walked towards the mansion, hand in hand as they looked in awe with the property they both discovered.
