Valin's pov...
The girl began speaking in the strange tongue; "λαδυ Τερνι σαιδ τηατ υου αρε το ωαση υπ ανδ ηελπ σερψε τηε φοοδ ιμμεδιατελυ" (Lady Terni said that you are to wash up and help serve the food, immediately), I looked at her confused. "Lady Terni wants you to clean up and help serve the food now" an elderly woman translated to me and I nodded, thanking her before leaving the kitchen.
I went to the room I was in before and washed up before putting on the only dress I could I have found in the room, a cream coloured gown that slipped down my shoulders ever so slightly with a tan coloured sash around the waist. I fixed my hair and put it in a plait down my back and went back to the kitchen and helped the girls who were also dressed like I was; carry platters of food to the dining hall.
Upon entering the dining hall, music and shouts of celebration was heard; as were the loud, joyous laughter of children and the voices of gossiping women. I walked into the room and followed the other girls in placing the food out on the tables, but before I could escape to the sanctuary of the kitchen someone thrusted a pitcher of ale into my arms and told me to go serve the guests.
I made my way around the room, refilling any glasses or horns that were presented to me; in a desperate attempt to empty the pitcher and retreat to the kitchens once more. I reached over to pour another drink into another man's horn when I felt a large hand squeeze my bottom. A small shriek escaped my lips as I spun around and my hand whipped across the drunkard's cheek.
Everything happened in slow motion after that; the man roared with fury and raised his hand to strike me and I stepped back in fright; but before his hand could make purchase with my face another hand intervened. I looked up and saw Thorin standing beside the man, glaring down at him.
"Ζορε, δο νοτ τουχη μυ περσοναλ σλαχε; ιφ σηε ηασ σομευηινγ δισπλεασινφ, ι ωιλλ βε τηε ονε το πυνιση ηερ; υνδερστοοδ?" (Zore, do not touch my personal slave; if she has done something displeasing, I will be the one to punish her; understood?), the man nodded and Thorin released his arm before turning to me. "Come" he said and dragged me out of the dining hall and towards his sleeping chambers. "Why did you hit him!?" he demanded and I looked him in the eyes, before answering. "He squeezed my behind; it is considered rude where I am from!" I answered somewhat loudly; "You are not to leave this room for the rest of the night, is that understood!?" he asked in a demanding voice, I huffed out a breath and rolled my eyes; when I didn't answer immediately he grabbed my hair tightly, pulling me on my tip-toes; making my eyes water as my hands instinctively reached up to hold below his hand as to attempt to ease the pain.
"I said, is that understood!" he shouted; "It's understood!" I cried and he released me, I practically crumpled to the ground, weakly.
Before anything more was said, he walked out of the room and locked the door behind him; as I sat on the floor, allowing the tears to freely fall down my cheeks. I stood up and walked over to the rear window by the desk; it was the best lit corner of the room.
I dusted a spot for me to sit and I sat there, gazing at the large moon in the somewhat clouded night sky. I was bathed in the luminous, silver moon light as tears continued to trickle down my face. "Why did this have to happen to me?" I questioned myself as I drew my knees up and hugged them. I undid the now messy plait and let my hair fall around my shoulders; as I sat there and cried until I no longer had tears to shed.
