THE NEXT TWO CHAPTERS MADE ME WANT TO CRY A BIT. I'M JUST WARNING YOU.

Chapter Fifty

I pulled out my phone, dialling him. I had to tell him what I had done.

"Rose," he said. "Did you find them?"

"No," I said hoarsely, swallowing. "I didn't."

"Is something wrong?" he asked.

"Yes, Elijah... There is."

He stayed quiet, but then spoke a moment later. "Are you alright?"

"Yes, I'm fine, it's just..." There was no other way that I could do this. I had to just ask him. "Elijah, do you want Celeste to die?"

He probably didn't know what to say. But I didn't have any other way to explain it.

"Yes," he told me after a few seconds of silence. "She is a danger to you, as well as Hayley, her child, and my siblings."

"Alright. That's all I needed to know," I replied. "Take her to the cemetery." I quickly hung up before he could say anything else.

It was almost nightfall. I knew that Celeste will have tried to take a body by now, especially if she knew that all of the Mikaelsons were after her. It was likely that he was going to have to watch her as she killed herself.

I went to the cemetery as quickly as I could, the darkness now consuming the city. I found the two of them at one of the entrances.

"Don't worry," she said. "It's a lunar spell. You'll be free by the next moon rise. My guess is: your sister won't last that long."

I was right. She reached down, her hands tied together. She grabbed a candle, and shattered the glass that it was put into. She took a piece of the glass, standing up straight to look at Elijah.

"Well, this body has been a hell of a lot of fun! I do think it's time I find someone else to play in, don't you?" she asked.

And with that, she stabbed the piece of glass into her throat.

Elijah stood there, staring down at her body in surprise and a small amount of sadness. I took that opportunity and went to the tomb that I knew her bones were in.

The Celeste that I knew, and had once loved like a best friend, was standing in the middle of it. She stared down at her body in shock, covering herself with the sheet that Monique had provided.

I pulled out the knife that I kept in my boot, holding the handle tightly. "Hello, Celeste."

"How is this possible?" she asked me angrily, glancing down at the knife.

"Monique Devereaux didn't have as much faith in you as you thought. And rightfully so," I said. She still seemed confused, so I explained. "I had her put a spell on you. Instead of going to another body, you came to your original one."

I slowly moved towards her, and she backed up until she hit a wall. "Non... Non, mon ami! Non! S'il vous plaît! Ce n'est pas fini!"

No... No, my friend! No! Please! It is not finished!

That was what she said to me. She was speaking to me one of the languages that I knew best.

"Oui, Celeste... Il est."

Yes, Celest... It is.

I walked closer to her, raising the knife.

"Je suis désolé, Celeste. Je suis vraiment," I whispered.

I'm sorry, Celeste. I truly am.

I stabbed the knife into her chest, right below her heart, and right through an artery. She screamed from the pain, then slowly began to sink to the ground as I watched the life leave her eyes. I pulled the knife out as she fell, staring down at the blood-soaked blade.

She would bleed out within ten seconds. She would feel almost no pain. Her heart struggled, then stopped beating completely. Her eyes became completely lifeless, and she stopped breathing.

She was gone. She was finally gone forever.

My eyes were filled with tears that threatened to fall. I wiped at my eyes with my unbloodied hand.

She was my friend. But if I didn't kill her, she would have hurt everyone around me. Especially Elijah.

I could not let that happen.

I heard footsteps outside the tomb, and turned to see Elijah watching me with an incredibly confused expression, then a shocked one when he saw Celeste's body on the floor.

I swallowed, then slowly moved to the doorway. I looked up at him for a few mere moments, then looked down at my feet and continued to walk.

I couldn't let him do that. I couldn't let him be the one to kill her. He loved her, and he still felt something for her. I couldn't let him feel the pain of being the one to end her life for good.

I continued to hold the knife, and kept walking until I saw Rebekah standing beside a tomb.

"Roseia," she said, coming over once she spotted me. She looked at the knife with a confused expression, then back at my face.

"You shouldn't be here," I told her. "You need to go."

"Rebekah," Elijah said, coming up behind me. "You should be on the other side of the world by now."

"You and I both know that wouldn't have been far enough," Rebekah stated sadly.

"Get away from her!" An angry voice yelled, and we all turned to see an angry looking Nik. "She's mine."

Elijah's hand shook as he pulled something out of his jacket, and I looked to see that it was Papa Tunde's blade.

Nik's eyes turned into their yellow hybrid colour as the veins appeared under his eyes, and I saw the stake in his hand. Elijah hissed, his fangs showing and his eyes becoming their glowing red. Rebekah's eyes turned red as well, but I could still see the fear.

Elijah moved in front of Rebekah and I after Niklaus called out her name. "Walk away," he told her.

"Don't move!" Nik shouted, pointing the white oak stake at her.

"Leave us now," Elijah said, not taking his eyes off of her.

"I can't," she replied, her voice shaky. "We're stuck here. Elijah, he has the white oak stake."

"I brought it for you, sister," Nik said in a dark and almost terrifying tone.

"Get out of his sight," Elijah told her. "Your presence only serves to anger him. Leave him to me, now."

Klaus moved forwards when she left, while Elijah moved over, blocking his way.

"Now I'm asking you brother to brother," Elijah spoke to Klaus. "We end this nonsense now."

"You would side with that traitor?" Klaus hissed, pointing in the direction that Rebekah had gone.

"I am not choosing sides, but I will not allow you to hurt our sister."

Klaus looked over at me, as if he expected me to agree with one of them, but his eyes softened for a split second when he saw the saddened expression on my face, then the bloody knife in my hand that was covered with Celeste's blood. But that soft look disappeared almost as soon as it came, and he turned around.

"We cannot leave this cemetery, Elijah," he stated, then looked back at him. "How long do you think you can defend her?"

Klaus sped off, and Elijah followed after him, with me right behind.

"For as long as it takes," Elijah stated. "By whatever means necessary."
