XVIII
After, faking doing my work for about an hour or so, I decided to check what Hina was up to. I wasted enough time, now I have to come with a full proof plan on how to stop the wedding. In the hours I was doing nothing, but pretending to paint, I kept thinking of different scenarios. Nevada won't believe me, so I need proof. Maybe, I could take a recording of her saying, her evil plan. That sounded like the best option, saying she kept bringing up my parents in every conversation we had. Well, almost every. Maybe, this whole thing will be over once and for all. The wedding was in 10 days. I only have 10 days to stop it, I kept repeating in my head.
I went inside the palace in search for Hina. I just wanted to invade her personal space and annoy her but also see what she is doing. This is what she gets for bringing me back. I spent several minutes wondering around, on the look for Hina. In the corner of my eye, I saw a small door open, and a shadow. I crept closer, and as I did I could hear Hina's voice. Who was she talking to? I crept even closer until my eyes went through the open of the door. It was Edward! I decided to ease drop on their conversation.
"The wedding is in ten days, we can't afford to screw up now." Hina having direct eye contact with Edward. By the looks of it, it seems like their hiding something. Something that... can stop the wedding, perhaps? I started to smile, as I thought that must be the only way, Hina was freaking out right now.
"I know. Don't worry. The wedding will go on. We already pulled off 25 days; it’s just a matter of a mere ten." Edward on the other hand, sounded fully confident, not like Hina, who looked like she was going to explode anytime soon.
"I hope you're right, but on the safe side, you have to stay low. It'll benefit both of us." Benefit? How? What are they talking about?
"Fine, how about I just leave for the US. I can say it's for business." Why does Edward have to leave? How does this relate to the wedding?
"No, that will just rouse suspicion, and you have to be here for the final week for the wedding. No groom leaves like that and just reappears on the day of the wedding."
"I don't have to be here and no one will find out because I actually do have some business to do. I'll be here the day before the wedding."
"I don't know, I just have a bad feeling about this but do what you think is right. Just don't screw up, or it's the end for both of us. Understood?" The end? If Edward stays will the wedding be over? Weird questions started to pop in my brain, trying to make sense of their conversation.
"Okay, it's settled. I'll book my flight for early morning around 4am. And I’ll be back one week from tomorrow."
"Okay." Hina nodded her head in satisfaction, and Edward gave her a big hug, to tell her it's all going to be fine.
I moved myself out of the way, as Hina turned her eyes towards the door.
"What's wrong?" I heard Edward's deep voice.
"Nothing." Hina whispered, and continued talking to Edward. I let out a deep sigh of relief. "Remember to call constantly, and e-mail!" Hina added on.
"Sure." Edward laughed as I knew they were still embracing one another. I left in disgust, and went to my room. What can this mean? Why does Edward have to leave? What could possibly be the reason? I stopped to think, and tried to figure out this whole mess, when someone knocked on my door.
"Who is it?" I asked.
"Your nightmare. Aren't you asleep yet?." Hina's voice filled the room, by the closed door.
"It's only 10, I'll sleep when I'm tired. No need to worry." I replied back, hoping she'll just leave and she did. I walked to the door about to open it when Edward kept flowing through my mind. Something is strange about him? That's when I knew my next move. I have to find information about this Edward. By the looks of it, he doesn't seem like your regular business man. He must have a dark secret about him. That must be it! Besides these days, who doesn't have secrets? The whole world is like one big secret waiting to be discovered.
How can I learn more about this Edward? He must have like a file or something about all his details. I kept recalling certain specific details about Edward that will lead to any information. I got it! His laptop. I've seen Edward several times, I don't recall a laptop but as a business man he sure to have one on him. Guess I'm going to be his stalker, starting tomorrow. But wait. I forgot one important detail. He's leaving tongiht back to the US. Ahh, why? Now what shall I do? Don't worry, Evelyn. Think, think, think. Ahh, yes. I can just be his stalker today. He must have to do something before he leaves.
It was 11pm. Instead of sleeping, I left my room, knowing Edward's flight was just a few moments away. Lucky, for me Edward was at the dining table. Probably wanted to have a final dinner with Hina before his dismissal. I decided not to bother them, but ease drop instead.
"Is your plane ticket ready?" Hina asked Edward, as Edward's hand went inside his pocket, trying to show Hina his plane ticket.
"Yes. My flight for 4 am is confirmed. So don't worry about it."
"Okay but remember to hide that file of yours somewhere safe. If it gets in the wrong hands everything will be over." File? So there is something there hiding? Something, that if it’s found, the marriage can be called off? I have to find that file at all costs; it's probably the best way to stop the wedding.
"Don't worry. That'll never happen, now since Evelyn is captive here, and under your eyes there is no way she can find it." That's why Hina wanted me here. To make sure I'm under her eyes. I knew that was just all an act but I had a gut feeling when she told me she didn't want to kill me that was the truth. Hearing my own mind say that gave shivers down my spine, knowing that despicable person despite killing my parents, still wanted me alive.
"I know she'll never find it but I'm worried about the servants living in your house. With your high tech security, I know someone outside won’t find it but I can’t say the same for your servants. Who knows what they'll do once they found that file?" How am I supposed to get that file? For a rich man, he must have some very good security. This may be harder than what I had anticipated on.
"I kept it in my safe. No one knows the password but me." So, that file which can destroy the marriage is locked away in a safe. How can I get it now? There is no way he's going to tell me the password! There must be another way? As the curious girl, no secret can get passed me.
"Why can't you just burn them like I asked?" Hina yelled as she stood up. I turned away from their view, as I thought I was going to get caught. My heart started pounding, like the time I was near Jayce. I placed my right hand where my heart was, taking deep breaths. I closed my eyes, as I could see a vivid image of Jayce. I quickly opened my eyes. There is no time to be thinking about him in this situation. I turned my view back on the horrid couple.
"Quiet Hina, someone will hear else?" Edward stood up and placed his hands on Hina's shoulder. They both sat back down.
"I told you, I can't. I already feel bad for what happened to him, I just can't. There is also a good chance after the wedding I may never see him again." See who? Who was he talking about? He can't burn the file because he feels bad? I thought a cold hearted human like him didn't have emotions.
"Just burn them. You have nothing to do with him." Who? This secret file and this person must be linked!
"Please, Hina. Out of all people I expect you to understand. He's my only family. If I can't see him, I rather have some pictures and documents I can keep." So, the files are memories of family. I took a quick glance at Edward. He looked like he was in his early 40s. That's like Hina to marry someone about 15 years older than she was but if Edward was in his early 40s he must've gotten married before, right? Maybe pictures of his wife? No, he keeps referring to a "he"? Who could it be then? Maybe it's not about marriage? Maybe it's a father? Or a brother? Whoever it is, it's linked to the destruction of the marriage.
"Do you still send him monthly money?"
"Yes, but he always sends it back. What a nuisance he is? Why does that house mean so much to him? He has no respect for his own blood?" Edward started to raise his voice, and Hina placed her hand on his arm, trying to comfort him. House? Money? It seems Edward and this mysterious family member has a bad relationship?
"Fine. Don't burn them but if anyone finds them, it's game over for us. You know why I decided to marry you. It kills me to know the consequences of marrying you but I'm willing to bare it, if it'll benefit our business." Consequences? What consequences?
"No one will. I'll make sure of that. Big risks come with big rewards, Hina. Remember that!"
"Now go home. You have to pack don't you, and remember to take that file with you. It's probably safer with you than it is here." Oh no! Edward is going to take the file with him! Now, how I'm I supposed to get my hands on it."
"Very well. I'll see you in a week then." Hina nodded and Edward walked off.
I silently made it to my room, soaking in what I heard. So, there is a file, about a family member of Edward's and the file can cancel the marriage. Edward is leaving tonight and taking the file with him. After a short pause, a grin grew on my face. It was perfect. If Edward didn't decide to take it, then I would never have gotten the safe to open, but since he is, the secret file will be out in the open. I knew my plan and for this to work, I had to execute it well, or everything might be ruined. This one move that I'm going to make will decide both Hina's and my fate! Only one of us will succeed by 4am. My one move can decide whether the marriage is off or on! It's do or die right now!

What might be Evelyn planning? Who is this mysterious family member and how is it related to the wedding? Guess you have to wait and see!
