𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐕𝐄𝐘
The party is not a big wild one like they usually are, it is mostly filled with the volleyball team the basketball team and their dates.
We were in Asher's house. He is fucking rich.
I lean against the wall talking to a few of my friends while others swam. The pool is huge the whole house is.
"You coming in Beckett?" Nate gets ready to jump in the pool. "Yeah maybe in a sec." I hold my beer and my eyes scatter the room for a certain blonde girl with hazel eyes.
I need to stop.
I go and get another beer when walks in. She is wearing a white mini dress and she looks gorgeous.
She walks in with her arms interlocked with Olivia and I can hear them laughing from a mile away.
Olivia's eyes widen when she see's Nate already in the pool. She runs on over to the pool but my eyes stay locked on Maddie.
Shit I need to stop that.
She looks around and when her eyes spot me she comes walking over. "You got a staring problem?" She teases pulling a bottle of water out of the fridge.
I just shrug and she takes a sip of her drink. "Is this Asher's house?" She looks around the place.
"Yeah it is he is fucking loaded." I explain to her. "Yeah I can tell." She leans against the counter.
"So how are you going with that history project thing?" Maddie brushes a hand through her hair.
I force a smile. "Yeah not bad."
"You sure? Didn't sound very convincing." She lets out a little laugh.
I shrug. "Yeah just stressed about getting it done, my partner is too busy taking Instagram photos to help."
"Well, hey, we made a good team which is a crazy surprise so I am sure you will do great." A small smile forms on her face.
"Yeah right." I lean in a bit closer. "Who is your partner for that class again?" I knew who it was exactly. Fucking Asher.
"Oh Asher! He is pretty good. We work good together." She smiles.
I mutter. "Of course, he is." He will do anything to get in her fucking pants.
She must have caught my tone. "Well, he is nice to me." She leans up from the bench.
"How is your bruise going?" She tries to change the conversation. "Painful." I roll my eyes.
"Yeah it looks gross." She giggles. "Wow thanks for caring." I laugh. "Anytime." She nods.
My phone dings and I take a look from who.
Mom: sweety, the kids and I are okay, but don't go near your dad. I will talk to you when you get back from the party have fun darling.
What the hell does she mean.
Me: what do you mean? What happened? Do you want me to come home?
I watch her type my heart beating faster.
Mom: no don't worry we are safe I promise. I will send you where we are staying. There isn't much room, but it is enough for now.
𝐌𝐀𝐃𝐃𝐈𝐄
I watch Harvey type nervously into his phone. "Is everything okay?" My voice nearly a whisper.
"I'm fine." He takes a big sip of his beer and goes to find someone.
I don't take it personally because something must be wrong.

About an hour and a bit later I'm sitting on a little chair with Olivia beside me. Harvey finally comes walking back looking drunk as ever with a tequila bottle in his hand.
"Anyone up for shots?" He waves the shot glass in his hand.
"hell yeah." Nate walks on over to him and Harvey pours him a shot. "Mads you drinking tonight?" Liv asks.
"Nah but you go for it." I smile. She gives me a nod and runs on over to Harvey. "Pour me some." He chuckles lightly and pours her a shot.
Harvey comes strolling over to me. "You want drink?" he plops down into the chair next to me. "No thank you." I laugh.
He pulls his shirt off, and I try my hardest not to look. I end up staring at some random pot plant.
"I'm gonna swim. You gonna swim?" he gets up and holds a hand out for me.
"No thank you but have fun." I smile.
"Come on Mads swim with me." My stomach flutters.
All I have eaten today was an apple and some chips I should be fine.
I Take a deep breath. "Okay one sec." I pull off my shirt.
I slide off my shorts and stand up. Harvey's eyes travel all down my body and back up to my eyes.
I cross my arms to cover my stomach and we walk to the edge of the pool.
"You get in first." I tell Harvey.
"Hell no." Harvey grabs my waist and pulls me in with him. The cold water sending a shiver down my spine.
"You little shit." I yell at him.
He lets out a low chuckle and splashes me with water.
My waist still tingling from his hands being on it I swim over to Olivia and Bella.
"We saw you get pushed in." Olivia laughs. "I know." I grumble.
"Shut up you know you loved it." Olivia winks and I nudge her slightly.

Two hours later I am exhausted and ready to leave. I wrap my towel around myself and grab my stuff to leave. I asked the girls if they wanted to leave, and they said no although I told them I could still pick them up if they needed anything.
I get my keys and walk out to the porch where a tall figure sits. "Harvey?" My voice nearly a whisper.
"Yes." I hear a slight sniffle.
What?
"Are you okay?" I run on over and take a seat next to him.
It was too dark to see if he was crying but the light from the house lightly reflexes over his face and I see his sharp jawline and his perfect side profile.
"I'm fine go away." He looks away from me.
"Harvey." I say quietly.
"Maddie I told you to go away." He runs a hand over his jaw.
"No Harvey you're gonna tell me what's wrong."
He looks at me for a quick second and I see his glassy eyes and my heart drops.
I move my hand to his face so he is looking back at me. "I'm sorry." He says shaky.
"Don't be sorry." I reply.
"What's wrong?" I ask softly.
He takes a long sigh. "You can't tell anyone Maddie."
"I won't I promise."
"I don't even know why I am telling you." His hand shakes as he plays with the ring on his finger.
"It's my dad." He says in a croaky voice.
I remember the last time he was drunk and he kept saying he did not want to go home and kept repeating it. Would this have anything to do with that?
I don't say anything and let him go on.
"He fights with my mom a lot, till the point of plates smashing and her face being cut with glass." He swallows.
"He is in and out of the house a lot. But when my mom tried to file for divorce he came home. When I tried to help well, this happened." He points to his cheek.
"It has happened too many times I can't even count anymore." He turns to face me. "I'm used to it." He puts a hand on his head.
"Harvey that isn't something you should be used to."
"I know." He says quietly.
"I just want him gone Maddie." He sounds close to bursting into tears.
"Harvey how long has this gone on for?"
"A long time."
"Why haven't you told anyone?"
"Didn't think it was my place to tell." He runs a hand through his hair.
I try not to get emotional knowing all these years he has been going through this shit without anyone knowing.
"I'm so sorry Harvey." I lean my head on his shoulder. "You don't fucking deserve this. But you are so strong for being able to handle it for all these years without a single person knowing."
"Thank you." He says softly. "I'm sorry." He tells me.
"Harvey never be sorry for letting out your emotions. You shouldn't bottle them up. I am so sorry you have gone through this alone but I promise you can talk to me whenever.
"Thank you Maddie."
"Do you want me to take you somewhere?" I ask.
"It's all good. I am staying with Nate tonight."
"Okay". I turn to face him. "Talk to me whenever you need Harvey and I mean it."
He nods and I get up on my feet. "I'll see you soon?" I ask. "Yep." He looks down at his shoes.
