The Birlas are sitting in the dining room for breakfast where Akshara is serving breakfast to her little ones. "Mujhe aaj kuch contract sign krne hai toh I need to go to the producer's office today", said Akshara gaining the family's attention.
"Okay, toh kab jana hai", asked Abhi.
"Abhi thodi der mai hi. Jayada kaam nhi hai bas 2-3 hours ka hi kaam hai", replied Akshara.
"Tumne Kavita didi se baat kri phir. Hum dono jayenge to bachon ke pass whi hongi na", asked Abhi.
"Haa ki thi. But woh available nhi aaj. Unke bhai aa rhe hai aaj", replied Akshara.
"Toh phir kaise hoga. Kids have no school today. Toh woh ghar pr hi rahenge. Who will look after them then?" asked Abhimanyu.
"Whi mai bhi soch rhi thi. Aaj ka program cancel kr doo phir. Kl chali jaoongi producer ke pass", said Akshara after giving it a thought.
"Nhi mumma aap jao, apko aaj contract sign krna hai bas toh zayada deir thodi na lagegi. Aap jaldi se jana aur jaldi se aa jana", said Abhir cheekily.
"I know betu, zayada time nhi lagega but aap dono toh ghar mai akele kaise rahoge", said Akshara.
"Haa ek kaam krte hai, mai tum dono ko apne sath le jati hoon, contract sign krne ke baad aa jayenge ghar wapis", said Akshara.
"Mumma, hum kya krenge wha jakar. Thodi der ki hi toh baat hai, mai aur Aanu akele ghar pr reh jayenge. We are big now", said Abhir.
He always wishes to stay alone at home without anyone else. His friends had already stayed alone at their homes. He wanted to stay alone too. How cool it would be - without anyone's supervision, alone at home. He could do anything he wanted to do. Full on masti for him. Today he finally has a chance to stay alone. He won't let anyone take it from him.
"Nhi, I can't leave you both alone at the house. Abhi tum dono bahut chote ho akele rehne ke liye", said Akshara.
"Mumma aap poora din ke liye thodi na jaa rhe ho. Kuch time ke liye jaa rhe ho. I am a big boy now. I can take care of myself and Aanu. Aap aram se jaoo", said Abhir. He can't miss this chance.
"Yes mumma, aap jaoo mai aur bhaiya reh lenge alone for some time. Aap tension na lo", added Anaira.
"Akshu do hi ghnto ki baat hai. Let them be", said Abhi. Both Abhir and Anaira are happy that finally, they will be alone at home. They will do whatever they want.
"Theek hai, you guys can stay alone. But kuch rules follow krne honge", said Akshara. Kids jumped with excitement. Finally, their wish is granted.
"Mumma, we will follow your every rule", said Anaira.
"Yes, mumma we will follow everything aap bas yha se jao toh sahi", muttered Abhir under his breath.
"Okay, so you guys have exams in two weeks. So, when I go you will study and complete your remaining syllabus.
Abhir your maths and science syllabus is still pending. Complete it today itself. Papa will take the test at night. Jo bhi doubts ho hai unhe mark kr lena and also earmark that page as well. So we can revise it in the future. Got it", instructs Akshara.
Abhir looked like somebody had stolen his favourite candy. "Issey acha toh na jate. Mere alone time mai bhi ab mai padai kroo. Hadd hai yr", muttered Abhir.
"Any problem betu? Kya kya bad- bad kr rha hai", asked Akshara.
"No problem mumma. Aap continue kro", replied Abhir. But he was mentally planning how to escape his studies and have all the fun that he had initially planned.
"Okay. Now Aanu, listen to me carefully. Revise the whole EVS syllabus, I will take the test as soon as I am back. Aanu sirf padai krni hai art nhi. Agar apne painting mai time waste kiya na toh mai aaj raat ko ek extra test loongi phir. Abhi painting competition mai bahut time hai, but exams are coming closer. So right now your focus should be on studies only. Got it", Akshara issued instructions to her daughter. Her happy mood instantly dampens listening to her mother.
Abhir kicks Abhi's leg under the table to stop Akshara from issuing any more instructions. She had already ruined their free time, now they don't want to burden them with any more tasks. Abhi looks towards his son. Abhir actions cut ✂️ sign with his fingers. He wanted to stop his mother from speaking anymore. Abhi nods. He understood his kid's plight instantly.
"Akshu, bas yr. Tumne toh do ghante ke liye itni lambi instruction list bna di. Let them breathe. Aur tum bhi thoda chill kro", said Abhi. He handed her a glass of water and effectively stopped her from speaking anymore.
"Yes, mumma take a chill pill", Abhir and Anaira shouted together.
"Okay, okay. I understand. Ab aur kuch nhi kahoongi. But Jo maine kha hai agar woh kaam nhi hua na toh kl ka tum dono ka playtime cancel", said Akshara. The kids have widened their eyes.
"No Mumma, we will study today aap bas humara playtime mat cancel krna", said Anaira hurriedly. Abhir nodded in consensus with his sister.
"Cool. Mai ready hoke ati hoon. You guys finish your breakfast", said Akshara and got up from the table.
"Papa", shouted the kids as soon as Akshara got out of the room.
"What?" asked Abhi innocently. He knows what they have to say. Whenever their mother tells them something that they don't want to do they take Abhi's help. Because they know only Abhi can save them from their mother's anger.
And in Abhir's golden words 'papa-mummy main se kisi ek ko toh patana zaroori hai to save their life'.
"Papa hume itni sari padai nhi krni hai. Aaj mai ghar mei akela hoon, I want to have all the fun. Mai apna favourite show dekhooga, favourite chips khaunga and apne sab friends ko bhi batoonga ki I am a big boy now. Socho, how cool it will be jab mai sab bataoonga ki mai ghar mai akela reh sakta hoon bina kisse se dare", said Abhir. He is thinking about his increasing popularity in front of his friends.
"Bhaiya don't forget mai bhi hoo apke sath. Aap akele nhi ho ghar mai. Aur mai apka dhyan rakhoongi", said Anaira haughtily. She brings back her brother from his dreamland.
"Okay okay stop it both of you", said Abhi before the fight broke out between his kids.
"Aap dono thodi si masti kr sakte ho, pr thodi der toh padai krni hi padegi", said Abhi relieving them of their biggest tension.
"Yay", shouted the kids and hugged Abhi tightly. "You are best, Papa", said Anaira and kissed his cheek. Abhi smiled and hugged them. Their happiness is all he wants in life.
Akshara came downstairs after getting ready. "Abhi I am ready. Let's go", said Akshara from the top of the stairs. Abhi didn't try to move from the couch because he knew it would take her another 15 minutes to finally get out of the house. She will check every nook and corner of the house before stepping out of the house.
"Bacho go to your rooms and grab your iPad for me", Akshara asked her kids. They nodded their heads and went to get it for her. In the meantime, she went to the kitchen and double-checked everything- whether the gas was closed or not, whether the cylinder was off or not. She took some light snacks from the kitchen and put them in the dining room along with some juices, so it would be easier for the kids to get them.
She closed all the windows properly. Locked everything in the house for her kid's safety. Meanwhile, the kids came back with their iPads.
"Mumma, iPad. Aap kya kroge iska", asked Anaira while handing it over to her mother.
"Kuch nhi Aanu, mumma apke iPad sath lekar jayegi taki aap dono games na khel sako and without distraction padai kro. No distraction leads to full concentration. Haina badiya idea mumma ka", said Akshara cheekily.
Whereas Abhir and Anaira look at her with open mouths. They have made elaborate plans to play games on their iPads. But their mom ruins it for them.
"Pr mumma, aap use kyu le ja rhe ho. Humne promise kiya tha na ki we will study only. Then why?" asked Abhir. He tries to dissuade her from taking their iPads.
"I know betu. I know mere bache bahut achi study krenge that is why I am taking it with me. Apki studies mai disturbance nhi honi chahiye", replied Akshara and took their iPads and put them in her bag.
"Acha ab hum chalte hai. Be careful. Koi problem ho toh mumma ya papa mai se kisi ko bhi call kr lena. The landline phone is in the living room. Maine kuch snacks rakhenge hai dining room, eat them if you feel hungry. Abhir betu, apna aur Aanu ka dhyan rakhna. Agar use koi help chahiye ho toh call kr dena betu. Aanu, bhaiya ko zayada pareshan mat karna.
And please ladna mat ek doosre se bas. Ek doosre ke sath aram se rehna", said Akshara. She bent down and kissed both of her kids. She is feeling a little paranoid while leaving them alone even if it is for some hours.
Abhi also hugged them. He gives a nod to Abhir which means now he is the man of the house - he has to take care of Aanu as well as of the house. He took Akshara's hands to go to their respective work. Akshara locked the door from the outside and took the keys with her. She did a silent prayer for her kid's safety and finally went to the producer's office to sign the contract.
"Tumne kya lagta hai yeh dono whi krenge Jo maine kha hai inse", Akshara asked her husband who was dropping her off at the producer's office.
"Woh tumhare bache hai, baby. Tumne aaj tak koi instruction follow kiya hai kya? Nhi na. So they take after you in this department", said Abhi cheekily.
"Haww Abhi tum bahut burey ho. For your kind information mai bahut obedient bacha thi", said Akshu with a cute pout.
"Tum, aur obedient?" questioned Abhi and laughed loudly thinking about it. Akshara slaps his arm lightly and tells him about her obedient school life. Abhi smiled at least he was successful in diverting her attention from the kids even for some time.
Whereas at Birla House, the kids are dancing with joy. Finally, they are alone at the house. Anaira turned ON the music system and started dancing to her favourite song; Abhir smiled at his adorable sister and he joined her in this dancing session too. After 15 minutes, they stop dancing. They got tired of dancing and finally sat down in the dining room. Abhir handed her a bottle of juice to quench her thirst.
"So, we should decide our plan first", said Abhir. Anaira looked at her confusingly. Her brother is talking about which plan.
"Which plan, bhaiya", asked Anaira.
"Aanu, we are alone for some hours only. Mumma hume bahut kuch padne ke liye dekar gyi hai. Agar humne kuch bhi padai nhi kri toh mumma next time hume kabhi akela nhi chodegi. So, humey kuch aisa plan krna hoga ki hum thodi padai bhi kr le aur thoda fun bhi", replied Abhir.
Abhir is always a meticulous child. He takes after his father. Like Abhi, he plans for everything before. Alas, it is not the same for Anaira. She is the spontaneous one, just like her mother.
"Bhaiya main toh sabse pehle painting kroongi, then apna favourite show dekhoongi aur last mai padai kroongi", said Aanaira telling her plan to Abhir.
"Aanu, you are an idiot. Pehle padai krte hai last mai fun krnege. Tu na painting and show ke chakar sab bhool jayegi phir mumma se dant khayegi", said Abhir. He tried to make her aware of the situation, but Anaira did not listen to him.
"Bhaiya aap ko kuch nhi pta hai. Aap apna kaam kro, mai apna kaam krti hoo", said Anaira haughtily and went to retrieve her new painting colours. Although her mother restricts her for using them but today Akshu is not here so she won't know about Anaira using them.
Abhir took his maths book and started practising the exercises that his mother told him. Both of them were silently doing their work. Suddenly Abhir exclaimed 'shit' loudly. He did a wrong calculation leading to the wrong answer. This startles Anaira and she mistakenly spills the water on her painting.
"No", cried Anaira, looking at her now spoiled painting. Abhir looks towards her, looking at her spoilt painting.
"Yeh kaisa hua" asked Abhir curiously.
"Yeh sab apki wajah se hua hai bhaiya. You startled me and I mistakenly spilt the water on my painting", replied Anaira. She is angry at her brother right now. She got up from her seat and went towards Abhir and coloured his practice sheet with painting colours. Abhir looked at her with an open mouth.
"Yeh kya kiya tune, Aanu. Tune meri sari mehnat bekar kr di", said Abhir angrily.
"Apne, meri painting kharab kr di toh Maine apki practice sheet", exclaimed Anaira. Abhir looks at her with an open mouth.
Abhir marched towards her painting and threw the colours on her already spoilt painting.
"No, these are my new colours. Apne mere sare colours kharab kr diye", said Anaira loudly. She lightly hits her brother's chest.
Abhir is also angry with her, he pulls her ponytail. This led to a fight between them. They started hitting each other lightly. Anaira threw a cushion on him. He dodged it and it hit her painting colours and two of them spilt on the ground. Both of them looked at the two broken bottles of painting colours. Anaira's new painting set is damaged. Abhir looked at Anaira's enraged face. He runs from the room, Anaira is running behind him to punish him for this crime. Both of them ran into the living room, throwing cushions at each other. The room looks like a mess now.
After running for some time, both of them got tired. They sat on the floor to rest. It is time out for them. They quickly drank the juices that were in front of them. Suddenly Anaira saw the time and shrieked with excitement. It is the time of the repeat telecast of her favourite Disney show. She couldn't watch it yesterday because she was giving the stupid maths test to her mother. But today she will watch it and enjoy it with her favourite chips.
Anaira left the stupid fight with her brother and ran to the media room with some packets of chips. Abhir is shocked. Anaira never backed down from the fight, then what happened to her suddenly? He looks at the clock and see the time. It is the time of her favourite show. But it is also the time of his favourite Anime. He generally watched Anime on his iPad. Today his mother had taken his iPad with her, so he had no option left but to see it in the media room only.
They have only one TV in the whole house. Abhi was against having individualised Television sets. Nobody in the house has a TV set in their own room.
"Aanu, remote mujhe de mera Anime shuru hone wala hai", said Abhir as soon as he reached in the media room.
Anaira scowled at him. "No abhi mera favourite Disney show ayega, aap apna boring Anime baad mai dekhna", said Anaira.
"Oh hello, boring hoga tera yeh Disney show. Poora time sirf hihi krti hai heroine aur bhagti rehti. Pta nhi itna kyu bhagti hai, jaise marathon mai jane ki practice kr rhi ho", said Abhir and tried to snatch the remote from her.
"Oh puhlease, mera show apke us maar dhaad wale show se bahut acha hai. Pta nhi kyun ek doosre ko marte rehte hai woh log, aur itne funny faces bhi banate hai", said Anaira. She secured the remote tightly in her hand.
"Shut mera Anime best hai", said Abhir.
"Nhi mera Disney best hai", said Anaira. The fight broke out between them due to Anime and Disney.
Abhir has been trying to take it, but finally, his patience has worn out. He pulled her ponytail and snatched the remote from her using some force. Anaira is shocked, but she quickly recovers from it. She starts snatching the remote from her brother. It broke a fight between the siblings, both of them trying to overpower each other for the hold of the remote.
Anaira is hitting Abhir with her small hands to get the remote from him. Abhir dodges her attempts and hits her occasionally whenever she overpowered him. Both of them fall to the ground while fighting with each other. Sometimes, Anaira dominated and sometimes Abhir. Both of them were so engrossed in fighting with each other that they didn't notice their parents come back and look at their kids with an open mouth.
Abhimanyu's surgery got postponed so he decided to come home to check on the kids. Coincidently, Akshara also came back after her meeting at the same time.
"Yeh kya ho rha hai yha", asked Akshara loudly. Abhir and Anaira stopped fighting suddenly and stood up from the ground to look at their parents. Both of them looked like a mess right now. Anaira's hair resembles the bird's nest. There were some remnants of paint on Aniara's face and frock. Abhir's T-shirt had a lot of paint on it. He had some scratches on his face and arms.
"Mumma woh....", stuttered Abhir.
"Kya mumma, mumma kr rha hai. Give me the direct answer yeh kya ho rha hai yha. Yeh kya halat banayi hui hai tum dono ne. Aur mere ghar ke aisi halat kisne ki. Poora living room, dining room sab kuch mess pda hua hai. Jaldi batao yeh kisne kiya", said Akshara in a loud voice. Both the kids point fingers at each other.
Akshara is highly irritated by them now. That is why she is against leaving the kids alone. "Isiliye akela rehna tha tum dono ko ghar pr taki ek doosre se lad sako. Ek kaam karo, mai yhi bethti hoo, maro ek doosre ko ache se khoob maro, mai bhi toh dekhoo kisme zayada power hai", said Akshara angrily. The kids are scared now. Akshara would never let them live alone in the house from now onwards. She will definitely give them the strictest punishment for the stunt they have pulled.
"Kya hua aisa kya dekh rhe ho. Abhi toh tum dono, WWE ke fighters bane hue the. Maro na ek doosre ko, mai bhi toh dekhoo kon zayada strong hai", said Akshara sarcastically. The kids looked down scared of their mother's infamous anger.
"Yeh kya haal banaya hua tum dono ne. Yeh paint kha se lgakr aye ho", asked Abhi.
"Aanu tune nye wale paint colours toh nhi khole na?" asked Akshara. Anaira looked down. She is gone now. Her mother will not leave her now.
"Wow, toh tune nye paint colours kharab kr diye. Ab tu apne painting competition mai purane painting colours lekar jaiyoo. I will not buy a single new colour for you", said Akshara.
"Mumma no, please Maine jaan ke woh kharab nhi kiye. Woh bhaiya kharab kiye the", said Anaira hurriedly scared of the prospect of not getting new colours.
"Haww jhutti, marine kharab kiye there colours ya tune kharab kiya hai use. Mumma Maine issey mna kiya tha ki don't use your new colours but isne meri baat suni hi nhi aur lag gyi apne nye colours se painting krne mai", said Abhir.
"Tujhe Maine man kiya tha na Aanu, artwork krne ke liye phir bhi tune kiya. Tum dono kuch padai bhi ki hai ya nhi", asked Akshara.
"Mumma Maine thodi si maths ki exercise ki thi but Aanu ne sab bigaad diya usne meri practice sheet pr colours daal diye", said Abhir quickly.
"Nhi mumma, bhaiya jhooth bol rhe hai Maine kuch nhi kiya. Bhaiya ne meri painting pr pehle pani giriya tha", replied Anaira in her defence. Both of them again start fighting with each other.
"Stop it both of you. Tum dono thakte nhi ho poora di ladte ladte", said Abhi tired of them always fighting with each other.
"Nhi Abhi yeh dono kha thakte hai. In dono ko bahut mza ata hai yeh krne mai. Tum dono ne mujhse promise kiya tha ki tum dono meri sari batein manoge. Aisey poora kiya hai tumne promise", asked Akshara loudly. The kids have no answer to this question and both of them look down not to anger their mother more.
"Ab mai tumhe batati hoo ki promise kaise poora krte hai. Aaj se jab tak tumhare exams nhi ho jate tab tak no TV and game for both of you. Aanu no new painting colours for you and Abhir aaj tum papa ko maths ke two chapters ka test doge naki one. Got it," said Akshara. The kids are silent. There was a pin-drop silence in the room right now, too different from the earlier chaos. They knew if they said anything more, their mother would increase the punishment tenfold. She is really angry right now. So, it is better to keep quiet, rather than to argue with her.
"Ab khade hokar kya kr rhe ho, medal ka wait kr rhe ho. Go clean all the mess, that you have created. Go" Akshara issued instruction. Both of them hurriedly scrambled from there.
"Phew, in dono ne meri naak mai dam kr diya hai. Poora din ek doosre se ladte rehte hai. I am tired of them now. Aur rehne do tum in dono ko ghar akele", said Akshara tiredly.
Abhi smiled at her and hugged her. "Bache hai woh dono. Agar ladenge nhi toh humari life kitni boring ho jaygei. Inki issi ladiye jhagde se ghar mai raunak rehti hai. Aur ladai jhagda bhi toh pyar dikhane ka ek tarika hai. Haina? Hum bhi aise hi the apne bachpan mai", said Abhi and kissed the crown of her head. Akshara nodded and hugged her husband tightly soaking his warmth.
This is the life of them- the life of Abhira. Although it's not always peaceful or go as they expected. But it is still a satisfying life. Chaotic and Calm at the same time. The life that they always wanted. A family with kids and lots of happiness and satisfaction.
