Being seventeen is different for everyone; most people would celebrate it happily dancing to ABBA, others would go out and have fun, but in Carmen's case it wasn't much so.
Birthdays in her opinion were overrated, over celebrated and quite boring, she never had a birthday that wasn't dull.
Every year Carmen's mother would throw a huge party which consisted of her gambling friends and other witches and wizards who she liked to brag to, it was merely a birthday party she just needed an excuse to throw one, most of the times carmen spent those birthdays in her room silently crying and no one would even notice her disappearence,
Nonetheless she had to attend
And bring a date
Which, in this case, Regulus

I shifted my weight from one knee to another patiently waiting for Regulus, I had sent him a letter earlier to meet me at the library by 10:30
Right now it was 11 and my patience was running out
Screw it
I collected my stuff ready to storm out until an exhausted looking Regulus came sitting in the seat opposite me
I gave him a weird look noticing his clothes "early quidditch practice" he explained practically panting
"Okay" I said unsure how to start this conversation "so my birthday is tomorrow" I said slowly
"Awe, are you inviting me to your birthday party?" He let out a low chuckle as my face went red
Merlin, I hate him
"Unfortunately, yes" I said in a deadpan look
"I can't-" he started but I quickly cut him off by throwing my mother's letter at him
He glared at me before carefully inspecting it, his eyes quickly wandered over every word until he reached the middle of it, he stopped to look at me as I signaled him to continue
"Oh" the realization hit him by the end of it as he looked at me dumbfounded "You weren't inviting me willingly, were you?"
"No offense but I wouldn't no"
"None taken, I wouldn't invite you to my birthday party too" he admitted folding the letter back and letting it rest on the table
"Alright then, I'll be there tomorrow" he said then let out a bored huff when I bit back a laugh
"What now?"
"We have to be there by tonight" I blurted
"What!" He was shocked to say the least "isn't your birthday tomorrow? Why would I be there tonight? It's rude"
"Yes, but you're the boyfriend" I reminded him and he quickly groaned
I rolled my eyes at his attitude
"No please, if you appear more happy I might just think you're inlove with me"
"How will we even get out of the castle, we already used our emergency pass" he said referring to our last and my first deatheaters meeting
"Yeah, about that" I said a guilty look on my face and he immediately let out another groan rapidly shaking his head in denial "No"
"Yes" I laughed at his childish acts
"No! I'm not going through that dark dusty corridor again!"

We did infact go through that dark dusty corridor again only this time with two backpacks and an extra one that belonged to Regulus
"Are we there yet?" he complained from behind me huffing every two seconds
"No"
Not three seconds passed and he asked again "Are we there yet?"
"No" I turned to glare at him but he didn't even notice because he was so focused on adjusting the two bags on his shoulders "they're so heavy" he complained
"No one told you to bring two" I stated the obvious as I watched him roll his eyes annoyingly at me
"where would I put my things then?" He stopped mid way urging me to face him
"you don't need all these!"
"How would you know!" He argued
"because they're too many!"
"well I'm the one carrying them, so shut up"
"you're the one complaining" I muttered huffing angrily as I resumed my walking feeling content that I only brought one backpack or else I would have suffered like Regulus
We walked in silence for the next five minutes until his annoying voice could be heard again
"Are we there yet?"
Oh merlin help me before I murder him.
