You and Chris had been married for about five years when you got pregnant with your twin girls, Jasmine and Juniper. However right after the twins second birthday, you and Chris had decided to get a divorce. It was amicable and you had decided to split custody of the girls 50/50. In all honesty, you had never stopped loving Chris, it was just different when he was filming and you felt alone with the girls. And he was frustrated by the situation and felt you were nagging him about it all the time. It was just a perfect storm for disaster.
Now, three years later here you are on a Friday night, switch off night, sitting in your living room watching the girls put on a production of "Frozen".
You had invited Chris in for dinner and he had actually accepted. Dinner was nice it felt very comfortable. All four of you laughed and talked about the day. Chris had encouraged the girls to put on the "Frozen" play that they had done for him at his house last night.
At the end of the production the girls insisted on story time before bed. You watched the girls curl up beside Chris and they had you come sit next to him so you could be cuddled too. It had been a while since feeling Chris so close. Chris read the story book in expert fashion. He kissed the tops of both girls heads and wished them a good night. You ushered the girls to their rooms and kissed them goodnight.
You walked back to the living room and were surprised to see Chris had moved from the couch to the kitchen. You saw the mixing bowl and several ingredients and knew what he was up to. It was going to be a cake night.
Chris: "I hope you don't mind. I thought since we were having such a good night I'd make a cake, like old times." He looked up and smiled.
You couldn't help but giggle. "Of course, Chris. I don't mind. In fact, cake sounds wonderful. But I want to help."
He nodded and gave you the bowl. You started reminiscing about everything. You laughed until you cried talking about him almost fainting when hearing you were pregnant with twins.
You were mixing the cake together and accidentally had batter flying. And low and behold, it landed right on Chris's cheek.
You belly laugh.
Chris: "Oh, I see how it is, Y/N. You planned that. Well you know what? Two can play at this game."
He reaches over and gathers some batter on his fingers and zings it in your direction. It lands on your nose and cheek. Now it was on.
You don't know how long it lasted but by the time you were done, both of you were a battered laughing mess. You didn't realize but in your goofiness, Chris had grabbed your waist and pulled you into him. Your faces were very close to each other.
Chris: "I've missed you."
You: "I've missed you too." Before you knew it or could change your mind your lips were crashing into each other.
You were a little stunned but surprisingly exhilarated by the kiss and decided to kiss him again. He didn't seem to be having a bad time either. It wasn't until you heard giggling that you stopped making out.
You look at the hallway and see four eyes staring back at you.
Jasmine: "What are you doing?" She giggles.
Juniper looks around disgusted, "Mom, this place is a mess."
You couldn't help but look at Chris and bust out laughing again.
