"Phasmatos Incendia Mountravera," I kept repeating the spell while the woman burned alive as I dropped on the floor clutching my head and grabbed the nearby table with some help
"Missed me" I heard as Caitlin came into view
"Don't push yourself too hard" Magnus advised
"I'll be fine once this all ends," I moved back seeing Clary fall "You aren't hurt much are you?"
"No, I'll manage," She replied as I got her settled
"Don't move until this finishes," I demand
"But-"
"Clary, I need you guys to be safe"
"Veronica," Caitlin calls me out "I know you're not fully healed but we need you," she says as they lend me their powers
With all of our powers combined I trap the group from moving or using their magic. Meanwhile, a shadow hunter slipped from Jace's guard
Leaping forward he slashed my arm, making me lose my grip on the shield as a few pushed through
"It wasn't just any blade it was a poisonous one," he said as I charged back holding my blade across his throat
"Have a nice trip to Hell" I slash his throat
Veronica's vision blurred as she leaned against the wall breathing heavenly to consume some air
"We need to get the poison out of her system!" Isabelle said as Veronica nodded no in between breaths
"Don't, I'll Heal-" she says walking away from them as they kept calling her
"I'll heal on my own just give me some-" She lost balance before finishing her sentence as Alec rushed in
She stood back up but the next second everything went black as She got pulled into another flashback
Flashback
"Are you sure about this?" The 17 year old Alec asked watching me gear up
"I'm 100% sure, Jace is there too,"
"I know I just don't want you to meet them, I'm getting a feeling that I might lose you I can't afford that" Alec expressed his worries taking a step forward as his icy cold hands touched mine
"We won't come back defeated," I say giving him a quick peck
"Promise, you'll take care," he demands as I nod
"I promise I'll take care," I say resting my forehead against his
"You'll be fine Alec, just don't think too much,"
"Ronnie" We heard Jace while Alec and I hugged each other as Jace and I leave
Present Day
I hear my name being called as I come to my senses I see Alec standing there
"Thank God you're okay, you scared the hell out of me" He pulled me in for a quick hug before my mind could register anything
"I'm...I'm okay Alec," I say patting him as he moves away and I see Caitlin standing by the door
"Hey" watching me from afar she says
"I missed you Snow" We both embraced each other in a tight hug
"I missed you too"
"I thought you left us all for good"
"I'm sorry, had to leave," she says adjusting her hair
"Where were you all these years? And how do you know Magnus?" I start bombarding her with questions as I start hyperventilating in the process
"You know you're still as fast as before," she says calming me down
"Everyone was moving ahead. I couldn't just stand and watch them go away" I pause to look up
"Why did no one tell me about this!?" A familiar voice reaches my ears as I groan "Not now"
"I'll take it from here" Magnus replied as Caitlin stood by the doorframe while Maryse seized everyone in
"I told you all to keep an eye on Veronica and look what happened here because of her. We get attacked" She raged "You wanted her to be a part of this institute didn't you Alec? Now see where it all leads us. It's all because of HER!!" Maryse lashed out as Alec clenched his wrist
Even though everyone wanted to fight back what Maryse said was right even though I saved every one I was also the reason why this Institute was attacked in the first place
"Caitlin Don't" I called out seeing an enraged Caitlin walking up to Maryse
"You don't have any right to speak about her like this. She almost lost her life saving this institute of yours!" Caitlin snapped forward as Magnus kept on healing my injuries
Caitlin is someone who always stands for what's right, even though she may come as someone rude and grumpy she's a keeper
"Caitlin, Maryse is right I may be the reason behind this attack" I stopped her "Maryse, I'm sorry for the loss, but, indeed, I never wanted anyone to get hurt" I apologized to Maryse as Caitlin smiled
"She's done so much for you and yet you doubt her intentions?" She grunts
Maryse gave Caitlin a firm stare before walking away "This time I'm going without saying anything to you but that doesn't mean that you're forgiven"
"I'm sorry, she still blames you after what happened at the wedding" Alec explains
"It's okay, I understand. She'll come around" I reply
"I forgot to give an introduction to everyone this is Caitlin my best friend. And Caitlin this is Jace, Clary, Isabelle, and Alec" I say introducing Caitlin to everyone
"Nice to meet you Caitlin, Welcome to New York" Alec greets her passing a warm smile
"Thank you, I'm glad to be on time" she replied patting my back as we grinned, After the introductions I showed her my room
"he's lovely Ronnie" She complimented
"Yeah, he is" I reply chuckling "but it isn't easy, the moment we get close he'll start questioning about Eric," I say laying my head back "he may not know who sent these warlocks today but he will ask soon enough"
"You're still worried about him?"
"I wouldn't had to if he wasn't out of the prison and on the lookout for me right now!" I state
"What? But how is this possible we made sure he gets-"
"Lifetime imprisonment. Yeah me too, but he switched things up"
"I'm there for you, just message me whenever you need me to handle things for you," she says squeezing my hand as I show her around the place
"This place looks amazing, I would love to work with so much equipment. Imagine the amount of results we could get for our experiments" She spoke with the same excitement she had years ago for science, a true nerd
"You're still the science nerd I know" I claim snickering as I watch her fawn over the equipment
"Never had and never will" she replied as we explored the place together and came across Alec in the lobby talking to others as we stole a few gazes
"There's a lot we need to discuss but you should rest for today, I'll stop by sometime," she says as she leaves me with a few things to think about
