"You have to get the stitches removed in four days, keep the wound clean. Your finger will have to remain in this cast for the time being, please come for a check-up in six weeks. You can make the appointment with the nurse up front. You may only put partial weight on your foot. It will be difficult with a crutch, but always try to roll your foot forward from the verse. Other than that, you need to take your medications, three times a day, after every meal."
Mark nodded.
"Okay, I got it. Thank you."
"You can pick up your medication at the front desk. Get well soon."
The doctor left the room, leaving Mark and James alone.
It was three days since the attack and Mark could finally leave today.
Vee was at work so Mark didn't even bother calling him.
"Are you ready ?" James asked and helped Mark to stand up.
They slowly walked to the front, where Mark sat down again while James picked up the medications.
Mark was deep in thoughts.
He didn't knew why but he was nervous sitting here all alone.
"Are you alright?" James suddenly asked.
"James ! You scared me."
The friend raised his eyebrow.
"Come on, I parked near the entrance so you don't have to walk far."
James once again helped Mark up but Mark motioned him that he's fine.
"You do remember how you have to take your medications, right ?"
"Yes. I promise you I listened to the doctor."
"Good. Wait, I'll open the door for you."
Mark smiled at his friend.
They always helped each other but Mark never took that for granted.
He knew that he has wonderful friends and he was always thankful for them, no matter what.
"Does your mom know what happened?" James asked once they sat in his car.
"No, and I don't want her to find out."
"Mark you know that your parents could easily take care of it."
"I don't want them to."
"Okay fine, I get that. Really ! But have you thought about it ? What if they won't stop ? I don't want you to get hurt again. And I also don't want Vee to get hurt."
>Maybe he's right..< Mark thought but didn't answer the other one.
"I'm just saying Mark.. If you let your parents take care of this it will be over in the blink of an eye. Otherwise I'm really worried about your safety."
"Okay I get it ! I'll think about it."
"Promise ?"
"Promise. Now can we please change the subject?"
"Okay.. Oh, Yihwa has her first ultrasound next week. I think on monday."
"Really ?"
"Yeah, Tee will accompany her. He even invited her out on a date."
"Wow.. She didn't tell me."
"Yeah, she wanted to but thought the timing would be pretty bad."
"I see.." Mark said.
Both boys didn't really knew what to say.
James tried to smalltalk but Mark wasn't really paying attention.
They arrived at Mark's condo nearly twenty minutes later and James got out to help Mark.
"I can do it. But thank you."
"Mark are you sure you're okay ?"
"Yes of course."
"You don't really seem like you're okay."
"James come on.."
"No Mark for real. I don't know how you feel but I can imagine that the whole attack shit left you kind of anxious, maybe evwn traumatized. Please Mark, if you feel bad - don't hesitate to reach out to me or the others. You're not alone and if you need help, we'll be there."
Mark looked at his friend and thought about telling James about his nightmares he previously had but decided that it would be best to keep it a secret.
"I appreciate that .. But I promise I'm fine."
James face looked like he just lost all hope.
"Mark.."
"Thanks for picking me up. Drive safely. See you on monday."

Mark sat down on the couch, staring at the ceiling.
His head was filled with questions he knew he wouldn't get answers to, when suddenly the doorbell rang and the boy slowly got up.
Mark looked through the door viewer just to see Vee with a big smile.

n only half an hour the older one stood in front of Marks condo, his suitcase next to him and food in his hands.
"Vee ? I thought you're at work."
"I took the day off to take care of you."
"You really don't have to do this baby. I'll feel bad."
"You would do the same for me so don't worry."
Mark smiled at his boyfriend as they both walked inside again.
"Did you take your medicine already?"
"No. I'll take them later."
Vee walked into the kitchen, Mark following him confused.
He grabbed a plate and put the rice he bought onto it.
"Here, eat honey." He said and put the plate down on the table in front of Mark.
"I'll get you your medication."
"You really don't need to !"
"I insist."

The boys sat on the couch, cuddling.
Marks head was resting on the olders shoulder and both were watching some k-drama.
"Mark ?"
"Hm ?"
"Shall we go to the police station tomorrow?"
Mark turned his head around towards his boyfriend.
His heart was beating fast and he didn't really knew why but what he knew was that he absolutely didn't wanted to go to the police.
"Baby ?"
"No."
"What?"
"I mean.. Not tomorrow. I'm still not that good."
"Mark it's been almost four days. We have to-"
"I don't want to go to the police station anymore. I'm fine, why going through all that paperwork ?"
"Mark do you even listen to yourself? You've been beaten up ! You -" Vee stopped himself once he saw the look on his boyfriends face.
"You're afraid of going to the police station?" He suddenly said.
Mark didn't answered.
"You're afraid they might hurt you even more ?"
"No.."
"Mark I promise they won't hurt you anymore. I promise ! And let me tell you dear - you have to file a-"
"I'm afraid they might hurt you !" He suddenly blurted out.
"They won't Mark !"
"Well what if they hurt you ?! What am I supposed to do without you ? I don't want you to get hurt !"
"Baby -"
"And what if they hurt Yihwa ? What about her baby?!"
"Mark, let me -"
"Imagine Fuse or Kamphan.. James can defend himself but those two ?"
"Masa !"
Mark looked up.
"Your life is full of drama since we became a couple. I'm sorry."
"Mark what are you talking about ?"
Mark sat up and took a deep breath before he looked into Vee's eyes.
"You're better off without m-"
"Don't you fucking dare saying that. One more word Mark and I swear I'll lose my fucking patience."
"Vee.."
"No, listen Masa. I'm not leaving your ass just because you think I'm better off without you. I won't, you understood that? We have to go to the police station so you can report the attack. I promise you everything will be okay and nothing bad will happen to us. Okay?"
Mark nodded and Vee suddenly felt bad.
"I'm sorry for yelling but you wouldn't listen.."
He cupped Marks face and made him look into his eyes.
"I didn't mean to make you sad."
"I know ! I'm sorry as well. Of course I don't want you to leave me. I'm just worried.."
"And I totally get that but please don't say something like that.."
The brown haired boy nodded and gave Vee a quick kiss.
"I'll be right back." He suddenly said.
Mark got up and walked into the bathroom for a minute.
Vee watched as his boyfriend left into the other room.
The door closed and Mark looked at himself in the mirror.
>You can do it..< he told himself as he dialed the number.
It rang.
Marks heart felt like it was going to explode.
It rang again.
"Come on pick up.."
It rang..
"Hello ?" Mark said as he heard the voice at the other end.
"I need your help.. Por.."

"And.. Mister Ratsameerat, can you describe the boys who did that to you ?"
"Yes uhm.. the one who started everything, one of his friends called him Prawan."
The man nodded and continued to write the report, making Mark feel like he was the one that did something wrong.
"I think that it's important to mention that this Prawan dude called Noemy Nawin Benjawan his girlfriend." Vee interrupted.
"The girl you talked about in the beginning?" The man asked Mark and the young boy just nodded.
"Why didn't you mention that earlier ?"
Mark tensed up but Vee grabbed his hand to calm him down.
"You know, adding stuff to the story makes it hard to believe that-"
"Excuse me ? You can clearly see that my son got beaten up pretty badly. It's quiet common to forget details while answering questions. I don't know what you're playing at but I would be thankful if you would just do your job."
"Yes ma'am."
Mark looked over to his mother and his dad.
She was smiling at him but his dad didn't even look back.
"Could you describe the bathroom again-"
"Okay stop." Marks father suddenly said.
"My kid told you five times already. What are you playing here ?"
"Sir you need to understand that-"
"Stop.You, go outside." The man said looking at his family.
"What ?"
"I said go and wait outside." He repeated, sounding pretty pissed.
Mark and his mother stood up in confusion.
"You too Vee."

"What takes him so long.."
"Mark, let your father handle it. It's going to be okay. You're here to report the attack."
The three sat outside the room, waiting for nearly twenty minutes now.
"Why didn't you call me when you were in the hospital ?"
"Mom.."
"Or more like.. why didn't the hospital call me ?"
"You're not my emergency contact mom."
The woman looked confused and taken aback.
"Vee is my emergency contact. I can never reach you anyways these days and besides that Vee is the only one who takes proper care of me."
"Mark, dear.."
The young boy breathed in deeply.
Since that day he wanted his parents to meet Vee, he thought a lot about his family.
He knew that his mom loves him and never wanted to hurt him but she also never really defended him when his dad threw a tantrum.
He grew up, thinking that loving each other meant hurting each other.
He knew that his father never loved him anyways.
"Mom I'm not mad at you. I know that you love me and I love you but that actually just makes it harder for me."
Mark didn't really wanted to talk about that right now.
He had bigger problems at the moment.
But he also tried to call his mom a lot these last days and she never picked up, so there wasn't really another chance for them to talk about it.
"Masa, dear I promise I'll make it up to you.. I know I should've helped you a lot more but-"
The woman got interrupted by the door opening behind her.
With a last nod towards the policeman, Marks father turned to the three that waited outside.
"So ?" Marks mom instantly asked.
"The girl is being charged for inciting a crime and the three boys are being charged as unknown persons until their names are known. You're fine, and so is Vee. But you will be called in again to identify the perpetrators and you for the recordings."
"What about Yihwa ? She was the one uploading it."
"Yihwa did that ?" Marks mother asked confused.
"Yes. I'll just tell the police that I made her do it."
"Anyways - Make sure you stay out of more things. If you get dragged into this kind of shit again, I won't help you anymore."
"Yes, sir.."
Marks dad just left for the exit but his mom didn't move.
"Mark, dear. I know your father is an asshole but I want you to know that he was actually just as worried as I was. I know that won't change a thing but I thought you should know that."
Mark just nodded, not saying a word.
"I'll leave now boys. Vee, please take good care of my boy and yourself of course!"
"I will mae."
"Please let me know if you need anything." She said before she finally left.
"Are you alright baby ?" Vee asked.
"Yes I guess. Thank you for coming with me."
"Of course baby !" Vee said and ran his hand through Marks hair.
"I think I need something sweet now.."
"How about we go get some ice cream ?" Vee said.
"Fuck yes." Mark answered and walked towards the door but Vee stopped him.
"What ?" The young one asked confused.
Vee stepped up and grabbed Marks hand, making the young one looking around.
"Vee, people will see-"
"I don't care anymore."
The young couple smiled at each other and finally left the police station.

Another chapter here !
While writing this chapter, I had to think about how I had to testify back in 2018.
I was attacked with a knife the year before and the judges tried everything to twist my words.
That's sadly not uncommon, so it's all the better for Mark that in my story, his parents have money, even if his father is a mean guy.
