It was the day after all the chaos had happened. Here I am, yes the IV is still on my hand as I wake up and see it.
"I wish I could get rid of this thing" I groaned as I got up and sighed and stretched yawning, as I remembered last night's interaction between me and Alec and gulped thinking about it, it made me question about how I was so comfortable at that moment.
I heard Isabelle come in "Good morning Veronica"
I shrieked "you scared me, Izzy," I said as I had my hand on my heart "a little gentle morning wake-up call would've been nice to someone who's just woken up a minute ago" I sighed
"So sorry Veronica, I just wanted to have some fun."
"And your idea of fun is scaring me?" I raised my eyebrows at her as we both laughed
"Well, I have been waiting for you to get this out." Looking over at the IV I groaned
"I'm here for that too. And I brought clothes for you." As she kept them on the bed. She removed the IV and I sighed in peace.
"Glad it's off. It was irritating me" I said getting up "I can understand" she giggled "but you still need to get your wound dressing to be done."
"I know, here" I sat as I turned around so she could change the dressing. After it, I took the clothes and went to the bathroom took a bath and got dressed and came out.
[P.S. Don't worry, the wound didn't get wet I had worn a shower cap thing on my shoulder which had a clip to it so the wound wouldn't get infected.]
This is today's outfit
I walked out as Izzy winked at me "looking hot" she said as I laughed and combed my hair in front of the mirror.
The room that I was staying in was quite great a big room with a bed, closet, bathroom, sofa, dressing mirror and the window side sitting area which gave the view of the city outside. The perfect room. I liked it.
I got all ready and picked up my phone as Izzy asked "you made your decision yet?" I turned around "yeah, I'm going to meet him and get the answers I need about all this." I responded as we walked out of the room and down the hallway reaching the lobby.
I saw Jace and Clary talking among themselves and then Alec in between them. Izzy and I walked over "hey good morning guys. How are you, Clary?" Asking her I gave her a side-hug "Morning Veronica, I'm god just worried about Dot."
She said as I nodded patting her shoulder and looked over to Jace "Morning Jace,".
"Morning Veronica, you're all dressed up what's the occasion. Btw you look nice" he said as I smiled "thank you" and suddenly Alec caught my eye, we both looked at each other then I turned away to Clary
"I'll be going with you Clary, and meet Magnus the warlock it was, I suppose. I need answers too." I looked at her and replied
"Thank you so much, Veronica. I was getting worried about how I'll handle everything."
"Look I know I'm new to all this just like you but you can count on me. I'll be there to help you in any way I can" placing a hand on her shoulder I comforted her as she smiled.
"Btw, who's ready for breakfast? I'm hungry" I said looking at everyone
"Me too," Jace says
"Kitchen it is then" Izzy concluded as walked over to the kitchen that's at the end of the hall down a separate way. It was quite big much bigger than the one I had at my house.
"Who wants what?" She asked
"I'll have some pancakes," Clary said
"Waffles for me" Jace answered
"An omelette," I said
"I'll have an omelette too," Alec said and I looked over to him as he give me a look too. And then I looked back at Izzy and nodded
"Okay then... chef . 2 omelets, A waffle, Pancakes and a cereal" Izzy gave out the order to the chef as the staff started preparing the food after a while, we were served our breakfast we enjoyed it and thanked the chef and the staff. We walked out to the lobby.
"Clary, Jace do you have any idea about the person that Magnus is going to send over," I asked them
" Not much," Jace said
"Clary, someone's here to pick you and Veronica up" Lydia came to us letting us know
"he's here. Well, then I guess it's time for us to leave." Clary said as I nodded
"Have a safe journey both of you" Lydia said as we nodded the person came in a guy in his late 20s or something.
"Shall we ladies" extending his hand he said as we said bye to everyone we took the lift and went down and the guy had something with his hands and a huge magical circle appeared in front of us and we stepped into it. As went into it, it felt as if we were moving forward but in a constant position.
"What is this thing?" I asked the guy
"It's a portal, We use it to get us from one place to another in less time rather than going through the trouble of walking all the way." He instructed
"I see. Clary?" I looked at her to see she was anxious as I held her hand and she looked at me.
"Don't worry Clary we will be able to find your friend and bring her back. I'm here with you." Squeezing her hand I comforted her
"Thank you, Veronica. I don't what I would've done without you by my side." She replied and I smiled as we reached in front of a huge building. As the guy said "we've reached"
"Here, he works here," I asked
"For our families," we said holding our hands as we moved into the building, took the lift and went up to what was 50 I suppose.
Got out of the lift and started walking behind that guy as he knocked at a door at the end of the hallway.
"Coming" we heard a voice from the inside
The door opened and We saw Magnus standing in front of us "oh finally, the people I was waiting for. Come on in" he said opening the door wide.
"I'll take my leave" the guy sai and went back
"So you have taken your decision I suppose or here to help your friend," he asked signalling as we sat on the sofa nearby.
"Both actually, I need answers and I guess you have some of them for me and also to help Clary out with her problem" replying to his question I said
"Hmm, wise and witty I see. It will be nice to train you." He said, "btw do you want to drink anything?" He asked
"Water," Clary said
"Same for me"
"Okay" he went back to get water as I admired his house, it looked a little rusty, and a little old with the interior mostly made up of wood.
It was stylish but a little intricate. He had this big living room, with some paintings. He came back and handed us the glasses
"you have a nice house. The style is nice and unique, It has vibes." I said looking around
"Thank you." He said
"Now Clary, do you have everything that I asked you to get related to Dot." He asked
"Yeah. I have it with me in the back." She said showcasing the bag
"Good let's start working," he said we both nodded and walked out of the living room to a room big enough to host a party at the end of the living room.
He place a book on the stand in the centre of the room and asked Clary for those items. She opened the bag and gave it to him as he kept them on the floor in the centre of the room and kept candles in a circle around it and also drew a circle with salt maybe or some white powder adjacent to the candles.
As he was done forming that circle he stood in front of the circle and motioned us us to be at a little distance from it. As we stepped back I saw him as he brought his hands upto his shoulder length and the candles lit up. I freaked out seeing what he just did. It was crazy, awesome. Awesome Crazy...
He concentrated his focus on the objects placed there within the circle as the flames grew higher and higher and the salt started to evaporate a little making it a smokescreen as Clary and I coughed.
"Done," he said as we waved our hands in front of us to get rid of the smoke. He snapped his fingers and the flames dismissed down.
"How did you do it so easily? It was amazing!! Can I do that too? " I asked looking first at the candles and then at him
"Practice, and patience, you can do it too with time" he said
"What I can tell you right now is that Dot is alive, I can feel her magic lingering around. Just need to find a way to help Dot.
Valentine has captured her as he would be looking for a way to get to Jocelyn and right now we can't do much to break her out. But I'll see if I can brew a plan. For now, you need to rest"
He explained the situation to Clary
"So that means Dot's alive?"
"Yes she is alive, with the help of this I was at least able to look her. Though I already know she's alive and I can sense her magic. She might be alive but injured."
"You guys need to be on your guard for further problems." He demanded
"I'll remember it. Thank you, Magnus, it gives me a sense of relief knowing Dot is Alive after all and I haven't lost her." As she thanked Magnus I comforted her "it's okay Clary, it will be alright. I know what you're going through." She nodded and hugged me as I did the same and patted her back.
"So what should we do now"
"Go back to the institute, train, relax for a while and come up with a plan for the next few days." He instructed
"Okay then we'll take our leave," she said as she nodded
"Only you not her she's not done yet?" He said giving me a glance
"You go back to the institute Clary. I'll be back later on. Just try and relax your body and your mind for a while. We know Dot's alive, we'll all figure it out together." She nodded "I'll try my best Veronica. You take care of yourself too"
"I will," I said as I looked at her Magnus opened a portal and she stepped into it and went to the institute.
"Take care," she said before stepping in
"You too," I said comforting her
At the Institute
Clary reached the Institute as Jace, Alec and Izzy were working on something they saw her come out through the portal and went to her.
"So what did he say?" Jace asked holding her by the shoulder as Izzy and Alec were waiting for her response
"Dot's alive." All sighed
"Thank god no one's killed. And what else did he tell you? And where's Veronica she went with you right." He asked
"Yeah Clary, where's Veronica? She didn't come" Izzy questioned her
"Well, first he told me that we need a plan for the next few days, as soon as he's able to establish a strong connection with Dot. We'll have to go and rescue her from wherever Valentine's keeping her locked up. Valentine has." She said with remorse
"Don't worry we'll figure a way out" Jace said
"We'll help your friend escape" Alec exclaimed
"And about Veronica well she's there with Magnus. She wants to know about herself and other stuff so she's going to be there for a while now" Clary explained
"I see, well okay then let's wait for her to come back. After she's done. For now, take some rest. I and the boys are going on a mission." Izzy said to Clary as she nodded and went to her room
"Who's ready for some fighting and killing or maybe interrogation?" Izzy asked
"I am, I'm worried for the both of them Clary and Veronica so I guess my worry will help much in fighting" Jace exclaimed as Izzy smiled
"I'm Ready too," Alec said
As they got ready for the mission.
Back at Magnus's House
"So what do you want to know," he asked sitting in front of me on the couch
"Everything, how you know my mom, and about all this magical world and stuff,"
"Well, I met your mom when I was on a mission in London, for a lost warlock. I met your mother there at an event. She was a Witch at that time and also on a mission there. that's how we got to know each other and connected. she also taught me some tricks. and I got to know that we belonged to a known clan" I was listening to him about how he met my mom and everything else
"so you and mom know each other for quite a long?," I asked him
"yes, we did,"
"and about this magic or the blood that I inherited from her how does it work and make me different than the rest of your kind."
"Well the answer lies in your question itself darling, you're a daughter of a witch and a shadowhunter which means you have powers of both these people."
"the magic that you have n you makes you strong as your mom was also quite a strong witch in her family and now it's going to be you, who's gonna take her place instead in the clan." he addressed
"But how, I don't even know anything about this magic, and you're telling me I have a separate family also about whom I have never heard about ever till now. and on top of that, I'll be a leader and all. but first I need to look for my sister and hear from mom as she gets back about all this,"
"Look Veronica, I know all of this information is a lot for you to take in such a hurry, you need time to process all this but it's okay I'm there to help you with all this. it's my duty," he said as he comforted me by holding my shaking hands
"let's take it to step by step, okay? it will be easier that way." he said
I nodded "okay"
"so first let me tell you the basics there are males in our community which we call Warlocks, which I am, and the females like you are called Witches. Now usually when a child is born through parents who are both witches and warlocks they inherit this magic from the moment they turn 4. but their actual powers develop after the age of 18. but children whose at least one parent is either a witch or a warlock usually develop their powers quite late but are equally and in most cases more powerful than the originally born witches as they also possess powers from another parent and it enhances both of their powers making them equally strong and more strong than the existing ones. I hope you're understanding what I'm saying." he says as I nod listening and understanding.
"So what you're saying is that this power that I have is hereditary, and it passes on from you to your parents, and as I'm a half-witch and half-shadowhunter so I have developed my powers a little late. but I'll still be equal to those who are natural witches and warlocks like yourself." I said
"Exactly, see you're a quick learner it didn't take too long to make you understand the basics. Now what's your age Veronica?" he asked
"Isn't that a little personal to ask a woman about her age.?" raising my eyes at him I asked
"Uh well, sorry for that but I guess for the reason of teaching you I would have to know," he said
"Uh, okay. I'm 21."
"I see then that means your powers have started developing. Your friend at the institute said that she noticed something strange in you the other day during your fight. She said that she saw your eyes glowing." he exclaimed
"What?!! my eyes? Glowing?. you're joking, right? How can someone's eyes glow?" I looked up at him in shock
"Well did you experience any change in your body during that fight.?"
"I was angry at those bullies mostly so I had the feeling of anger inside of me but for a moment or so I did feel a little shift in my body's energy while fighting," I recalled
"In that case, then it explains the glowing of your eyes, something that your friend mentioned as you've never experienced the powers of a witch you felt a shift in your energy. And the moment you fainted was not because of your wound. I mean halfway because of the poison but more importantly, because that anger of yours triggered your powers and as your body couldn't handle the sudden transformation the moment you relaxed you passed out as it took a lot on your body to generate that energy even if it happened without you knowing about it."
"So what you mean to say is that my powers have already been triggered now?"
"Well looking at your age, Yes you're 20 and most of the witches develop their other powers at this age and for someone, like you, their transformation starts at this age," he explained
"I see" I nodded as he told me about all the other things.
