*Evening May 16*
Takemi: What do you mean your time is almost up? My last check up had me give you less than 18 months!
You: I've been keeping it a secret but..
Takemi: But..?
You: My illness is causing my organs to fail that is correct and with your medicine I am able to reduce the symptoms and damage and buy me time. But I've noticed that each episode that I encounter something seems wrong than usual..
Takemi: A new symptom..?
You: It is.
Takemi: What is the symptom?
You: Paralysis, my latest episode happened earlier today.
Takemi: What kind of paralysis did occur?
Takemi has begins to write down notes.
You: If I don't take any of the meds in time, my body begins to lock up, the pain alone nearly makes it impossible to do anything but waiting for the medicine to kick in, I felt my body lock up, staining to move, unable to do anything.
Takemi: So.. I guess the answer is right in front of us.
You: Yes..
Takemi: The illness has spread to your brain then..
You: This is what I think so as well.
Takemi: Do you feel light headed at all?
You: All the time, I tend to push through it but subconsciously, my mind is dying faster than the rest of my body.
Takemi:...
You: I know Dr. Oka had good intentions but even he couldn't have predicted that the dangerous medication he gave me would do more harm than good. The side effects on my mind are severe, allowing the illness to progress and infect my brain stem and nervous system.
Takemi: And that is why you want me to examine you. To see how far it's spread and how much time it cut.
You: Correct. Please, just give a straight answer.
Takemi: I will do so, as you are my patent. Follow me into the examination room.
You follow Takemi into the room and take a seat. She quickly begins to examine you fully. She doesn't show her emotions during the examination so you patiently wait until she finishes. After a little while, she takes some of your blood and does some testing which takes a bit more time, she concludes her examination soon after.
Takemi: I am done.
You: I see.
Takemi: *Sigh*
You: That bad huh? Not like I was surprised.
Takemi: You are right that it has spread to your brain stem and is slowly progressing. Your blood results from my search showed traces of some dark matter within it. I believe it is tainted and poisonous blood cells that the illness is causing to be produced. The side effects of your medication and the poison mixed and it was able to gain access to your brain much quicker than expected. I could do more thorough tests but I don't think I would find anything else other than I already know. So there won't be a need for it.
You: So my own body is poisoning me in the end...
Takemi: It seems that you're a rare and unknown case, yes. Your heart must be the biggest source of the illness.
You: That explains why it hurts all the time.
Takemi: Correct. It's the reason you spit up blood and why you need to throw it up, your body is trying to reject the poison within you, but it just makes you lose more blood in the end. The medication was able to reduce the process but not stop it completely so the strain and effects of the poisoned blood in your system would get filtered without causing symptoms.
You: I see.. Now.. What is my time frame..?
Takemi: I am getting to that alright..
You: I understand.
Takemi: By my understanding, your heart, lungs, basically majority of your internal organs are infected with this illness and it's making each organ produce this self made toxin in your body. Your heart is the most damaged and plagued with the most of this illness. It seems to have originated from there, what I conclude is when you had your episode that put you into a coma, you may have begun to develop the illness from the time. I don't have concrete evidence of this theory but sometime after going into your comatose state is most likely in my opinion.
You: So nothing I could have done to stop it.
Takemi: Nothing, it isn't your fault.
You: I know that Takemi.
Takemi: So.. *sigh* to conclude the examination, more damage has occurred at a much faster pace than expected. Due to the spread in your brain stem and its process, it has cut your previous 18 months to nearly 5 months..
The words leave Takemi's lips, all you can do is just stare at her. Your mind just shuts off and begins to try to process. Your hands start to shake from anxiety, breathing gets shallow, heart is beating fast, you begin to start to have a mild panic attack.
Takemi: Hey! Don't shut down on me.
You: S..Sorry.
Takemi: You shouldn't be the one to apologize. I am the one who should be sorry for giving you such grave news..
You: S..So... 5 months huh..
Takemi: That is correct. In 5 months, your brain stem and quite possibly, your entire brain will be far too gone. And with those gone, the rest of your body will shut down, death will be very soon after. To ease your nerves.. it will be painless. Your nerves will be shot and unresponsive.. so you wouldn't feel anything when the time comes..
You: That is more terrifying than anything really.. pain makes me feel.. something should be happening. Not feeling anything when I pass.. I just can't imagine it.
Takemi: It's not an easy pill to swallow.. But I will make sure to keep you comfortable and supply you with the medication-
You:...I'm not giving up..!
Takemi:...!?
You: I am gonna keep fighting as long as I can.. so that you can cure me..
Takemi: Y/N...
You: I will fight to live..!
Takemi: But 5 months.. that isn't enough time to figure a cure for something this problematic..-
You: Takemi!
Takemi:..!
You: You are an excellent Doctor! There isn't anyone I know who could pull off something this impossible other than you. I believe in you.. to cure me..! So I will fight as long as I can, buying as much time for you to use Dr. Oka's research to aid and help you solve my case! I won't give up! My time on this world should not be cut short!
Takemi:...you're right.
You watch Takemi stand up firm and confident. She smiles and lifts her head high to you.
Takemi: I, Tae Takemi, will ensure to fight hard for your sake too. Let's beat this vile illness once and for all.
She takes your hand and shakes it, you smile and return the feeling.
You: I am counting on you.
Takemi: And I am counting on you to not die, you hear me? I will make sure you regret it if you die before I finish my work.
You: I wouldn't want that.
Takemi: Good... You should head home soon, I am gonna be having long nights ahead of me now.
You: Don't burn yourself out.
Takemi: Don't worry, I've been burned out for years, this is finally something worth reigniting the flames!
You: Thank you, Takemi.
Takemi: Right right! Just get going, I should have your next supply done by the 18th. I will send it to your household when it is done.
You: Thanks again. Good night, Takemi.
You leave the clinic, the feeling of dread, hope, misery, and determination trailing behind you, Death clutching at your thread, you keep your head tall and firm. Confidence fills your soul like never before...
You: 5 months is all I have left right now. I best make the most of it.. I need to make sure I don't mess up on my end..
You reach your home and take a shower. You take your pill and begin to text the plan with Ren to the group. Ann expectantly was reluctant but in the end agreed to go along with the plan. After some time, she texted back saying Yusuke was willing to take her on the modeling offer alone tomorrow. So you begin to prepare the plan with your friends before heading to bed. The lingering thoughts of your condition still clutching your sanity, you grip your fist tightly and say a silent vow to yourself before closing your eyes and sleeping away the stress......
