"So I trust you won't stop your path to be a hero then."
Aoi said with a bright smile before checking her watch.
"Unfortunately that's all the time we have for tonight, but if you're interested in more tune in tomorrow for more exclusive interviews with Mai's principal and the hero that was her last opponent in the ring, Hawks!"
Mai gave the winged hero the side eye only to see him flashing a proud smile.
"Goodnight Japan! And I hope I'll see you again tomorrow!"
Aoi said waving signalling Mai to do the same.
The horned girl gave a nod before the camera turned off.
"THATS A WRAP!"
An unknown worker shouted as more lights flicked on, revealing several workers with red puffy faces or nervous darting eyes that refused to meet Mai's gaze.
Hawks all but flew up to Mai before he tackled her in a hug.
"You did great kid!! I'm so proud of you! I'mma get you some ice cream! And Aoi.."
He turned to the other woman as she stood up and fixed your hair.
"Thank you so much! I owe you one."
He said hugging the woman, the action received an eye roll from Mai and a few other people in the studio.
"Of course honey anything for you! And Mai you were just a delight! You know that? I know you'll go far! It won't be easy but you can do it!"
She hugged the smaller girl dispite the look she was given.
"And Hawks I can't wait to see you tomorrow night!!"
She said as a few different workers walked up and ushered her to the side to talk about God knows what.
"You ready to head out kiddo?"
He asked making his way to the door.
"Let's stop at McDonald's! I want a ten piece chicken nugget meal!"
He said practically skipping.
Mai scoffed and walked after the child she was now tasked with babysitting.

After entering the house Mai was pulled into another hug. Fuyumi approached at a speed that Mai didn't expect and tackled her at a force that almost strong enough to knock Mai's ice cream sundae from her hand.
Almost.
"You did so great! I'm proud so of you, if it were me I would have frozen up immediately, But you are so brave!"
The girl pulled back and looked at Mai.
"Come on let's get you changed! I'll get some makeup wipes to, ugh you look so pretty! But you need sleep and you could break out if you don't take it off!"
The older more experienced woman drug the emotionally drained younger girl down the halls of the large house.

"I still don't trust her."
The sound of Natsuo quietly arguing with his sister couldn't be heard by the normal human ear from anywhere outside the kitchen.
But dispite that and the fact that it was almost two in the morning, Mai walked down the halls. Her original destination was the bathroom next to the kitchen the two siblings were arguing in but that changed when she started listening.
"Why not Natsuo?! She a good kid that's been through a lot and-"
"And she's freinds with our dad! Our dad, Fuyumi. No 'good kid' would be friends with a bastard like him! And not to mention the fact that she's a literal murderer!"
He hissed voice raising slightly.
Mai didn't know how this conversation started and she was more concerned about the cookies on the counter behind Natsuo.
Her currently empty stomach was willing to walk through fire or even awkward conversations to have one or two of the precious treats.
"Do we have to talk about this now? It's two in the morning!"
Fuyumi reasoned looking at the clock behind her brother.
"Yeah! we can wait until our dad and the murderer is awake and have this conversation again."
He scoffed.
Natsuo had a lot of pent-up anger didn't he?
And right now he was taking out his frustration with their new roommate on his sister.
Mai shrugged before walking past them, bunny slippers silent on the wood floor.
The two hushed their conversation and Fuyumi smiled brightly while Natsuo cautiously watched Mai, like at any moment she was going to rip out their livers with a battle cry before stealing all of their baked goods and jumping through the window.
"Hi Mai! What's wrong? Couldn't sleep?"
Fuyumi asked in concern.
Mai shrugged and reached for a cookie while making eye contact the whole time silently asking Fuyumi for premission to consume them.
The girl smiled and nodded.
"I was hungry."
Mai said not even looking at Natsuo.
"I'm sorry if you heard that, we are both tired and he didn't mean it."
The older girl apologized glaring at her brother who rolled his eyes.
Mai didn't say anything as she took a bite out of the homemade cookie.
Unfortunately Mai was used to causing controversy, and that was only going to get worse.
"No it's fine, I said before he can say what he wants. This is his house after all."
She said taking another bite.
"Though If he's mad I'd prefer it if he directed it at me instead of you."
She said finally looking at Natsuo who's glare never faultered.
"Also I'm not endeavor's freind. I'm just taking advantage of his uncharacteristic generosity."
She finished her cookie and turned around prepared to finish this conversation to so she could go get some sleep.
"So why would he even let you stay here huh? There must be something up."
She looked back.
"He probably felt like he had to after he offered to pay me to marry your brother and have his babies."
She stated as though that was a completely normal thing to say.
The siblings stared in shock.
"Goodnight."
Mai said simply walking out of the room.

"It was a calculated risk, one that worked out wonderfully!"
Nezu chirped from the television.
Mai was in on of the TV rooms with Fuyumi.
Natsuo went out with friends and Endeavor was out on patrol
meaning the only pain in the ass left in the house was Mai and she wasn't going anywhere.
Nezu and Aoi were sitting in the same place Mai sat this time yesterday and Mai was glad she didn't have to go back.
"Well the public seems split in two but you have some fan accounts."
Fuyumi said scrolling through her phone.
Mai sat up.
"A what now?"
"A few Instagram accounts dedicated to you and your interview."
Fuyumi showed her the accounts def to clips of videos, some even dug up videos from the sports festival when she was on the sidelines.
Other were videos of her without the original sound instead music and filters.
"Some even made edits."
Fuyumi laughed.
Mai looked at the screen some what baffled.
Why would someone waste time on something like that?
"I decided Mai should come to UA because of the USJ incident! Having a talented strong student seemed like a good idea and Mai fit the bill perfectly."
"But you do have a few haters."
Fuyumi Grimaced.
"Like anti fan accounts."
Mai joked, the idea was even more idiotic than "fan accounts" in her opinion.
"Well they're called hate accounts but yes."
Fuyumi clarified.
"But at least you're trending!"
She laughed at Mai's dumbfounded expression.
Mai was really similar to Shoto in a lot of ways.
They were both sheltered and didn't know things most people though of as basic knowledge.
And both of them often only showed slivers of repressed emotions and seemed to have little understanding of feelings in general.
"At the recent attack at our summer camp Mai used her quirk in a way she never did in the arena, she saved almost twenty students from threats like villains, fire and the toxic gas they brought with them, all without engaging any villains in combat!"
"Is trending good?"
She asked scrolling through accounts that had pictures of her as their profile and clicked on hashtags like #cancelmairika and #mairikaopinions? or #mairikaishotaf
With a neutral expression.
"I think that really shows how much your school did for her! I mean saving people couldn't have been something she learned beforehand."
"For people so Opinionated they don't seem to have any life apart from this."
Mai stated still scrolling.
Fuyumi snorted.
The girl liked having Mai around in all honesty, it made her wish she had a sister instead of brothers and an overbearing father.
Having a teenage girl to talk to was nice, she was sad to know Mai would be going back to school in the morning.
"Though we put the idea of being a hero in her mind I can't take credit for her actions! She spoke yesterday about why she's becoming a hero.
That is what's causing this change in her, not my school."
"You know you can come over anytime after you go right?! And you should definitely call me! It's nice having another girl around."
Fuyumi said with a warm smile.
Mai nodded in response feeling oddly happy because of the invitations.
"Thank you."
She said as she looked back to the screen.
"Mai is the most driven student I've had the pleasure of overseeing! And you can imagine what that means considering the type of school I run.
That's what kept her alive to this point and that's what will make her an amazing hero!"
Fuyumi pulled Mai into a hug and the girl didn't object.
