Since birth, you have been inseparable. Hawkins always came with (y/n) and (y/n) always came with Hawkins. That's what everyone said in the village. Your parents were like his and his were like yours. Perhaps were you two seeing each other too much? That's another thing townies said. Those people just couldn't mind their own business.
"Those are funny-looking cards, Hawkins."
"They're tarot cards, (y/n). I've already told you that," declared the 7-year-old blonde boy.
"I know but I just can't grow tired of hearing the word! Tarot, tarot, tarot, tarot~" you sang as you twirled, making your friend smile.
"That's because it's magic."
"Huh? Really?"
"Let me show you."
Then came 8, 9, 10, 11, 12.
You both made a code that limited the verbal exchanges. If you were sad, you'd touch his back. If he was squeezing your shoulder, it meant he was trying to comfort you. It didn't stop you from talking though, much to his despair. So he patted your back when he was tired of your ranting. It only caused you to grimace though.
13, 14, 15.
"Some people eat snails," Basil's mom said.
"They must not like fast food, Anna!" your mother responded with a giggle. This caused them to all join the laughter.
The blonde rolled his eyes at this. "Jokes are boring," you and Hawkins sighed.
All four of your parents didn't believe it at first. How naive of them.
16, 17.
"I bet ya they'll end up dating!" Again, the townies didn't mind their own business but for once, they were correct.
At 17 you both shared your first kiss. It was thundering and raining. You both rushed inside an abandoned warehouse. It wasn't a romantic moment per say but when his sweet lips brushed against yours, it felt right. You even remembered the slight nervousness that passed through his eyes and how trembling his hand was when it touched your hip.
18, 19, 20, 21.
"These two will get married."
"It's just a question of time."
Another thing they said that was accurate. Naturally, it was gothic. Much to your parent's dismay. You recollected how your mother almost fell in tears when you picked a black laced wedding dress.

"So...when are you two going to have a child?"
"We'll adopt a black cat, name it Lucifer and call it a day," you retorted each time anyone asked this one forbidden question.

You were laying down in bed by his side, touching his dainty chest when it happened, when he said those words: "Let's make a pirate crew, (y/n). Let's leave this island. My cards crave to meet the sea."
"A destiny at sea, huh? That sounds endearing."

Now there you were, sitting next to him on your shared bed as you treated his wounds, especially his severed limb. You would have to find a prosthetic to replace his arm. He was marked for all eternity.
"I couldn't bring myself to betray Kaido. They had low chance to succeed and Kaido would have gone after you and the others afterwards, the cards told me...Plus, I saw the shadow of death upon my own future if I didn't join the Yonko. There was zero percent chance of survival in any other scenario." He justified himself for the hundredth time. He really was bothered and it broke your heart.
You intertwined your fingers with his. "I know, I know. You don't have to explain yourself." You brought his hands to your lips. "Destiny was written. It's something nothing can meddle with, not even magic or sorcery, my bat." He sighed at this nickname. He was an unshakable serious man. You were the chosen one to give him nicknames. He preferred if you only use it in private and you were fine with that. Of course it slid from your mouth from times to times and he was fine with that as well.
"Can you pass me my cards, (y/n)?" he asked. "My sixth sense's itching."
Each time he took his cards out made you gulp. His readings were always so ominous. Regardless, you executed yourself even opening the used wooden box for your husband. You offered them to him and after a few seconds, some started to float. He picked three that slowly offered themselves to his analytic eyes.
"A foe with murderous intentions is making his way toward us."
"Hawkins, there are bloodthirsty people everywhere at sea," you said out loud, mostly trying to comfort yourself. That's when the quarter's door slammed open to reveal a nervous-looking Faust. Something had to be very wrong. "Kid's here."
No one was as bloodthirsty as this guy.
"What!?" you stood up immediately, grabbing your sword as you exited the room.
Your spouse called after you to no avail. He really should have known better than that after all those years.
"Can't you see you've both been played by Apoo?" you said the moment you saw the lethal individual.
"I didn't give up my freedom!" roared the red-haired. "He did!"
"Well not everyone's like you, Eustass Kid! He agreed to work under Kaido's orders for his own reasons and to assure our lives and you have absolutely no right to discredit his actions as our captain."
"Kid," started Killer. "It's useless." However his captain didn't listen. "HE TRICKED ME WITH HIS DEVIL FRUIT AND HE'S A TRAITOR!"
"That's the whole point of his power!"
"I DON'T CARE!"
"Lower your voice." Your throat was dry, your skin stretched as your nerves where stretching out of anger. He was pushing his luck and-
Your lover left his room as he walked toward the other captain. "Kid." Hawkins spoke up.
"Hawkins," you and Kid said unanimously with different tones. His was harsh. Yours was worried. Your partner looked at you with an understanding look as he stood by your side. "Forgive my second-in-command, she's feeling a bit off lately." He squeezed your shoulder warmly. Shoulder touching had a meaning between you two and it didn't meant offence. You sighed in relief as your spouse spoke up again. "Why are you here?"
"To settle the score!"
"I refuse." Hawkins's answer was straight to the point but it didn't seem to soothe the angered foe.
Kid smirked as he pointed his fingers towards your captain. " I stand by what I said back in Onigashima. If you're so weak that you know you'll lose, don't ever show your face on the battleground."
"Tell that to Burglar cat Nami," you mumbled under your breath. Your comment was ignored by the two men.
"And I still can't believe you guys survived." sighed Basil.
"SHUT UP!"
"Kid," you gained the red-haired man's attention as you stepped between the two fellas. "Tell me if you came here to tell him that, why even bother for a rematch? Unless you have something to prove yourself."
His teeth clenched together as he walked towards you, stopping when his face was inches from yours. "What are you trying to say, huh?" his tone was cold, defying.
"I mean that your ego's louder than you and believe me that deserves a good crowd clapping."
Everyone gasped at your audacity as your opponent's face was boiling with rage. "You little b-"
Hawkins split you two apart the best he could. "If you dare finish this sentence, Kid, there's 92 percent of chances you'll get more than a rematch." Your partner turned to you, his blond curls covering half of his face, making him appear even more enchanting. "Calm down, my bat." You almost melted. It was the first time he called you that in public and it felt so natural. It was at those times you remembered why you said "yes" years prior.
"Captain, now's not the time to be romantic." kvetched the black cat mink.
"Don't ruin the moment Faust!"

Yes, I skipped the battle like a little coward because, let's be honest, no matter how I would have written it, Hawkins would have loose. Like, check the bounty difference. There's NO WAY a dude with Zoro's bounty can take down a 3 billion-worth man as much as I love our favourite swordsmen. Ok sure their bounty was closer before Wano Arc but STILL PLS ITS KID.
