"Oh, dear..." William breathed out with his palm facing up, looking up to the sky as it turned grey.
In an instant, the rain started to pour.
He let out a sigh and opened his umbrella, crossing the street as people hurried to the sidewalks.
"Crap, crap, crap!"
"Agh! Now of all days!?"
"Hey, watch where you're going!"
"Nii-san!" Louis called out as he waved his arm in front of a store, instantly catching William's attention.
William gave him a smile as he calmly walked up to his brother, catching a glimpse of a shadow behind him.
William slowed down, his eyes focused on the moving silhouette as its hands moved to pull up its hood.
"Nii-san?" Louis called out, worriedly looking at William, "Is something wrong?" he asked, concern laced in his voice.
"No... It's just that, will you..." William replied, his eyes trailing the silhouette as it tried to blend into the crowd.
"...check your pockets?"
Louis raised a brow but didn't question it as he patted his coat.
He let out a soft gasp as he dug his hand in his coat.
"My wallet...! It's gone...!" he breathed out, looking through the crowd.
William grabbed Louis' arm and looked over in your direction, your hooded head turning side to side as you tried to walk through the crowd.
Louis scoffed as he followed you, his eyes never leaving your sight.
You turned around and saw him heading straight towards you, making you rush through the crowd.
"Stop right there!" Louis called out, but you continued to run away.
William followed swiftly, his mind running through every route and street within the area.
"I said stop!" Louis warned again, but you continued to run and found yourself through the alleys.
You jumped through the trash and even knocked over some trash cans and boxes, but Louis was still hot on your trail.
"Leave me alone!" you shouted, knocking over another tower of boxes and trash, but Louis showed no sign of giving up.
You let out an annoyed groan as you made another turn.
"Quite the predictable route, don't you think?" William pointed out as he closed the umbrella and held it out, making you run right into it.
You felt the air inside you pushed out as you fell, hitting the cold, wet ground.
You let out a groan as you squinted your eyes, seeing Louis glaring at you while William kept his smile.
"Get up," Louis muttered, pulling you up by the arm as he held them behind you.
"Ow-hey! What do you think you're doing!?" you struggled, but Louis kept an iron grip.
"I do believe you took something from us?" William asked, making you raise a brow.
"What? No, I didn't. I don't even know you people," you answered, glaring behind you.
"I see..." William replied, his hand going inside your coat, "...Then what do you propose this is?" he asked as he showed you Louis' wallet, a taunting glare in his eyes.
You gritted your teeth as you looked away, admitting defeat.
"I'm sorry, Nii-san... I didn't even realize it was stolen from me," Louis apologized as William hid the wallet in his pocket.
"No need to apologize, Louis... She almost fooled me as well,"
You rolled your eyes as Louis kept his hold, making you wince.
"Shall we go call the authorities?" Louis suggested, keeping his eyes on you as William observed you, a devious smile on his lips.
"No need. I have something else planned,"
"Are you sure about this, Nii-san?" Louis whispered, keeping his eye on you as you stretch your arms, "We don't even know this woman..."
"Yes, but her skill is quite extraordinary,"
"Umm..." you called out, catching their attention, "If you're done gossiping about me, mind explaining?" you squinted your eyes as you cautiously looked at them.
Louis let out a sigh as he walked to the opening of the alleyway, keeping an eye out.
"What do you mean 'work for you'?"
William gave you a smile as he walked up to you, making you step back.
"It means exactly as it sounds," he quipped, "I would like you to work under me. You have quite the gift,"
You furrowed your brows as you looked at him, sensing something hidden behind his closed-eyed smile.
"Of course," he shrugged his shoulders, "We can always give you to the police for thievery," he added, opening his eyes as they shined scarlet red.
Your eyes widened as you scoffed.
"So it's either I work for you, or I get arrested, huh?" you asked, earning a nod from him.
You let out a sigh as you weighed your options.
You looked around and tried to think of a way out, but a voice in your head warned against it as you looked back at the two men.
"...Before I give you an answer, can I ask you something?" you asked as you looked at William.
"Go ahead,"
"Why do you want me to work for you?" you questioned, trying to read William's face.
You noticed his smile widened slightly before turning back to normal.
"You're the famous thief who stole from numerous nobles, correct? Your recent one would be the paintings in Lord Compton," William answered, sending chills down your spine.
"How did you-"
"-You have a pattern, so it was quite easy to put together the pieces from the newspapers. Though, I guess the police is not as sharp," he continued as he looked at the end of the alleyway, seeing the crowd of people walking by.
"And I also noticed some charities getting great sums of money from an anonymous sender," he added, smiling at you, "That is why I know you'll be a good addition to our operation,"
You raised a brow at him and smirked, "You're quite the interesting character. Aren't you, mister?"
"I should say the same to you,"
You huffed as you ran your fingers through your hair.
'So, it's either I get arrested for every crime I committed, or work for strangers that I just tried to steal from...' you sighed in defeat as you looked back at William.
"Well, it's not like I have that much of a choice..." you muttered, reaching your hand out to them.
"The name's (Y/N) (L/N). Hope we'll get along,"
