"Nandini" Chityakanta's scream fell as the person before her suddenly fell backwards. But Atropa's arms held the body before it could touch the surface of the ground.
"My lady" Atropa's voice choked as she saw her hand soaked with blood. Nandini was like a lifeless body in her arms.
"My lady" Ageratina walked out of the room only to scream at her top lungs. She immediately went towards Atropa and held Nandini in her arms "how this happened?"
"It was an attack towards the little prince but her highness stepped forward to take it on her '' the midwives who were standing beside Chityakanta said.
"This is not a time for inquiry. Get Nandini inside the room and call the imperial physician fast" Chityakanta was fast to react. She was still holding her grandson who was crying. Ageratina and Atropa took Nandini inside the Rose Palace again followed by Chityakanta and the midwife.
"You bastard" Vaibhav was so enraged that he chopped the head of the black clothed man who shot the arrow. Then he started to kill everyone who belonged to the enemy army. Though he was looking like a king of hell, only he knew how he was feeling inside. His brother told him to take care of Nandini and yet he failed to do so. Now how will he show his face when his brother comes back. Thinking about it. He felt his rage increase twice and angrily chopped the heads of his enemies one after another.
Inside the Rose Palace, the head imperial physician hurriedly arrived and he was panting. Hearing the news of the Empress being injured heavily he jumped in shock. So without thinking for a second took his medical box and ran out of the medical hall towards Rose Palace.
"Imperial physician please check her" Atropa pleaded as soon as she spotted the physician.
The Imperial physician went towards Nandini and examined her wounds before looking up "her majesty had been targeted deeply and her wounds had become more critical. But before doing anything I need to pull out the arrow that pierced her heart. We can't keep the arrow for longer as it is poisonous one"
Others present in the room gasped. The midwives had taken the little prince back inside the outer room where Maya was staying. And Nandini was placed in the inner room which was the empress's private chamber.
"Please help me to remove the arrow fist" saying this imperial physician immediately pulled out a paste and applied it on Nandini's chest where the arrow was piercing then pressured lightly with a handkerchief on it. "Keep little pressure on the area and I will pull out the arrow"
Ageratina took the initiative to take action. The Imperial physician tugged the arrow but it didn't come out. He frowned "looks like the arrow is stuck"
"What?" At the side Chityakanta gasped. The arrow is stuck? It was already poisonous now what's going to happen.
"Imperial physician, what will we do now?" Atropa asked with an anxious expression.
The Imperial physician shook his head "no matter what we need to remove it as soon as possible. If it stays like this then it will affect her majesty more severe"
"Please pressure the affected area with little pressure" he said again before trying to pull out the arrow. After a hard tug it finally came out but the wound opened up and started to bleed.
"It's bleeding" Ageratina exclaimed.
The Imperial physician pulled out a bottle then dropped the liquid directly on the wounded area which somehow helped to stop the bleeding. Then he used clean clothes to clean the area and applied another herbal paste then bandaged it. He wiped the sweat on his forehead and looked at Nandini's pake unconscious figure lying on the bed.
"Imperial physician, how is her condition?" Chityakanta couldn't help but ask.
"Your highness, I have done everything I can but this is deadly poisonous. The one who made it really has a sinister mind" he shook his head "I really don't want to give false belief so empress's condo is too critical. The poison in her body is venomous and I don't know how to cure. Only those who specialise in poison or have some miraculous skill in medicine can help her" saying this he lowered his head. It is really shameful to say that as a head physician in the imperial medical hospital he could not cure the empress. But he was also helpless. After researching medicine for almost all his life he is still incapable of identifying the poison.
"No...." Chityakanta stumbled back as she lost all the energy in her body. If it was not for her maids she would have ended up on the floor.
Ageratina and Atropa looked at each other before nodding.
"She is pregnant, what about her child?" Chityakanta asked again.
"Your highness, empress herself in such a critical situation. I fear if the poison continues to spread then it might affect the child too. We need to find who can remove the poison because empress doesn't have much time left to wait"
"How long?" Chityakanta asked with shaky tone.
"I fear it's at least 5 days"
Chityakanta gasped for breath. She felt all the air had been sucked out of her body leaving her panting and suffocating. After the death of her husband this is the first time she felt like this. Her eyes traveled towards the pake figure on bed and she couldn't help but feel her soul clenched with dread.
Just then a soldier's voice rang from outside "victory, his majesty has won the war"
If it was a normal situation then it would be the happiest news for Samrat but the situation was different. On one side it was victory but on the other hand it was a death and life situation now. Chityakanta clenched her fist and she couldn't understand whether to cry or smile.
Oh god, what kind of situation is this?she closed her eyes as she asked inwardly. Then her eyes shoot open.
"We need to inform his majesty fast," she said.
"But sending informers will take lots of time," Atropa replied.
"How about Egy?" Ageratina suggested.
Egy? Chityakanta and the imperial physician frowned. What's Egy?
"But how to get him? He doesn't respond to others other than my lady's flute tune" Atropa reminded.
Ageratina pondered for a while "no there's another way"
"What?" Atropa asked.
"Fire signal, he will come wherever he is"
After a few minutes a fire signal sparkled in the sky. Few commoners who saw it frowned. Why suddenly there were fireworks in the broad daylight? But before they could think further they saw a giant silhouette flew over them. It was fast enough for them to recognise what it actually was.
In the palace, Ageratina gazed at the sky anxiously. She was hoping that Egy could get the signal. Just as she was thinking she heard a flapping sound then the familiar giant figure came into view.
"Egy'' Ageratina sighed in relief. She didn't waste time yet immediately wrote two small letters then tied it on Egy's neck and his leg then she whispered a few words to him. Egy's sharp eyes looked at him before opening his wings and flying away in the sky.
"Whats-" Chityakanta couldn't form a word as she stared at the flying silhouette.
"It's my lady's pet eagle, your highness," Atropa replied to her.
Chityakanta looked at Atropa "Nandini's pet? An eagle?" She was shocked. Who makes that sharp hunter as a pet?
"Yes, my lady found him when he was still a baby. He was abandoned and too weak at that time. My lady couldn't leave him to die so she brought him back and raised him herself with utmost care" this time Ageratina explained to her.
"He... understand human language?"
Atropa and Ageratina nodded "yes, my lady has been teaching him when he was just a small baby. Egy can even read alphabets" replied Atropa.
Suddenly Chityakanta felt astonished. Teaching an eagle is not a simple matter. But witnessing the giant bird personally she couldn't help but believe what they said. She glanced towards Nandini's pale figure again.
She hopes that this hard time will get over soon.
At the border side a troop was charging towards the Entrance gate of Samrat with fast speed. Suddenly one of the soldiers saw a silhouette flying towards them and he shouted "what was that?"
The trip suddenly stopped seeing the creature flying towards them in high speed. In front of the troop Manik watched the silhouette getting closer then he saw the familiar figure. He has seen it before so he could recognise it immediately. He raised his hand the eagle landed on his arm. He saw there's small informing letter hanging on its neck. He grabbed it and saw Egy flew away without wasting anymore second.
Manik opened the latter and two sentences were written inside.
