Chapter 20
“Arisia!” I screamed. Humahangos akong bumangon habang hawak ang aking dibdib na parang tumigil. It was like I just stopped breathing but my heart miraculously beat. Saka ako nakahinga nang maluwag nang ilang mga minuto. “Arisia?” I muttered in realization of what came from my mouth earlier. “Who in the world is Arisia?” Napakunot ako.
That name is unfamiliar but strangely comfortable when I say it. Arisia. Who is she?
Ilang beses akong napakurap bago napailing at niwala na lang sa isip ang mga iyon. I disheveled my hair and and looked at the mirror. I was frozen for a bit when I saw girl in a split of a second.
A goddess-like lady with ebony hair and emerald eyes. She was alluring.
I scoffed.
What is wrong with me? I must still be dreaming.
I nibbled my lips.
This is creepy.
I shook my head and washed my face. Nang tumingin ako ulit sa salamin ay umilaw ng berde ang aking mga mata. It was gone again. Napaawang ako at napahawak sa salamin. “This is strange. I thought I have green eyes.” I uttered. “I must be going crazy.” A chuckle escaped from my lips. “Also, why am I formally speaking?” Curious. “Whatever. Kailangan ko lang ng libro.” I reminded myself.
Right, I just need a book as my stress reliever. I am just stressed that is why some strange things are happening to me.
I went to the nearest bookstore. Deja vu. It was the same cashier who served me before I died. Napahinto ako.
Wait, I died?
I blinked a few times. Napahawak ako sa aking ulo.
Why does it feels like something is missing? Is there a loophole in my memories? Why did I say that I died?
I snorted.
Should I go to a doctor?
Casually, I shook those thoughts away. Hinablot ko na lang ang pinakamalapit na libro sa akin at pumunta na sa kahera.
“Seven-hundred thirty-two pesos.” Nakangiting bati sa akin ng babaeng kahera. I mentally rolled my eyes.
“Slow. Will it not hurt to be faster?” Hindi mapigilang lumabas sa aking bibig dahil sa tagal niyang pagbabalot.
“Po?”
“Bilisan mo.” I gave her a glare that made her jerk.
“O-Opo!” Dali-dali niyang ibinigay ang binili kong libro at ang barya. I calmly stormed out from the bookstore.
Sumampa ako sa aking kama pagdating ko sa aking kama..
“Really, what is wrong with me?” Tulala kong ani bago binuksan ang libro bago magbasa. I was invested in reading until I slept.
The next day, I had the same routine. I was reading my book while sipping on my coffee when the doorbell rang. I was confused but I still opened the door to see who it is. Bihira lang kasi ang mga kumakatok sa aking pintuan. It was just those deliveries but I remembered that I had no prior orders.
“Who is it?” Ani ko nang mabuksan ko ang pinto. A middle-aged woman who was in the verge of crying greeted me.
“I-Ikaw ba si Raji Shio?” Her voice quivered. Her eyes looked pleading and I do not like it.
“Yes, that is me. What is it?” I answered in monotone, hinting uninterest.
“Ikaw nga.” She said in relief, like she just found what she was looking for.
Do not tell me that it is just like those dramas where you would find your long lost child. That is cliche.
“Who are you?”
“Fusha del Reyes. I am... your mother.” She started to cry. And my guess was right because she introduced herself as my mother. I found it strange that I have not break down because my mother found me but I did not. I just stared at her, feeling nothing. And this feeling of nothing feels nothing new for me.
“You are my what?” I hinted sarcasm.
“I-I’m sorry.” Utal niya. Tinanguan ko lamang siya at sinabing sumasakit ang ulo ko. Gladly, she smiled at me and I do not have to be guilty for closing my door from her. I sighed in relief when I laid on my bed and starting reading my book again. But then, a figure of a woman suddenly crossed my mind.
She had blond hair and green eyes. Her eyes were the same as the girl who was in the mirror yesterday. She is also beautiful.
Nakaramdam ako ng lungkot kaya mas lalo kong ipinokus ang atensiyon sa libro.
“I cannot... focus at all.” Buntong-hininga ko at minasahe ang noo.
Sumasakit ang ulo ko.
Taliwas sa aking naisip na hindi na babalik ang aking ina, kinabukasan ay may kasama siyang isang lalake na may edad rin.
It looks like he is my father.
“You are here again.” Bati ko sa kanya na nakangiti. It looked like she got off of her heavy load. Katabi niya ang lalake na nakahawak sa kanyang baywang. He warmly smiled at me.
“Siya ang... iyong ama.” She said.
“Josh del Reyes. I am your father.” Ani ng aking ama. Kagaya ng kahapon, wala pa rin akong naramdaman na saya na hinanap nila ako.
“I see.” Tumango ako. “Are you done?” My mother was a bit taken aback.
“P-Pumunta lang kami para magpakilala bilang iyong mga magulang.” Marahan niyang sinabi.
“Raji Shio. Pleased to meet you.” I told them. “Please go back now. I am not feeling well.”
“Then we can take care of---”
“No.” Mataman kong sabi.
“A-Anak...” They muttered.
“It is fine. Do not worry about me.” I gave them an icy look before closing the door.
To distract myself, I went to the school. It looks like there is something different than usual since people are looking at me whenever I pass by them.
My brows knotted.
Is there something wrong with me?
“Miss Shio, are you listening?” Natauhan ako nang marinig ko ang boses ng aking guro. I looked back at them and she and the whole class are now looking at me. I found out that I was in daze and that the professor was calling for me earlier.
“Pay me no mind.” Malamig kong sabi.
“V-Very well. Make sure to listen at our discussion.” She avoided my gaze and started to lecture again. Napairap na lang ako sa ere at tumingin ulit sa labas.
Our class ended later than evening. Tumambay muna ako sa Starbucks bago napagpasyahan nang umuwi. I stopped when I saw some suspicious figure. Nang siningkit ko ang aking mga mata ay saktong kita ko ang pagsaksak ng isang lalake sa kasama nito. He miserably fell. Hindi ko alam ngunit hindi ako nakaramdam ng awa o takot sa kanila.
“I better not get involved.” I muttered and started to walk again.
“Hmm, I guess there is a witness.” A creepy voice behind me. Nang lumingon ako dito ay malapit na sa akin ang lalakeng sumaksak sa isa kanina. His eyes are bloodshot and red.
He is in drugs, I think. “At saan ka naman pupunta?” Tawa nito at pinaglaruan ang madugong kutsilyo. Ibinato niya sa akin ang kutsilyo. Out of reflex, I evaded it. My eyes widened a bit. “Not bad, you avoided it.” It looked like I was not able to avoid it completely when I felt some drops of blood fell to my arms and clothes. Napahawak ako sa aking pisngi at napatulala. Countless memories are flashing through my mind in a second. I was confused at first.
“W-What---”
“Oh, you can’t even run because you’re scared.” Hindi ko pinansin ang sinabi ng lalake sa aking harap. Napasapo ako sa aking ulo dahil sa sakit nito. I started to pant as I endure the pain.
Arisia... Arisia... I---I think...
The aching of my head stopped and that made me able to breathe. Humugot ako ng hininga habang nanginginig ang aking mga tuhod.
Good grief.
“I... remember now.” I bit my lip until it bled.
Damn. I cannot believe I just forgot that I am her. I am Arisia! What am I doing in here when I was supposed to be in a battle?
I gritted my teeth and gave a sharp look at him. “Actually, just stab me to death.”
“Huh?” Nawala ang ngisi nito.
“I changed my mind. I will die amidst the risk.” Mabilis kong hinawakan ang isang kamay nitong may hawak na kutsilyo at walang alinlangang isinaksak ito sa puso ko. I closed my eyes when I started to lose air and consciousness again.
“Arisia!” Isang napakalaking hininga aking aking hinugot nang idinilat ko ang aking mga mata. It was like this when I came back from my past life, too. I calmly stopped Rionsky who was shaking my body to wake me up. May lumabas pang mga tubig mula sa aking bibig. He is giving me concern while I noticed his less blushing.
I guess he did resuscitate me.
Tumikhim ako at humugot ulit ng ilang mga malalalim na hininga.
“Rionsky.” He stared at me, still a bit flushed. “Alluis is?”
“I-I’m sorry. I jumped as soon as you two fell from the cliff.”
“But you eliminated the rats, right?” He nodded and tilted his head. Napangiti ako. “Then that is fine, I am sure some of our knights are there.” I do not have to worry for Alluis’ safety since I am sure the di Vonce knights are there.
Napatingin ulit ako sa kanya at dumako ito sa kung saan siya natamaan ng bala kanina. I remembered he was losing a lot of blood earlier. I am sure he is feeling groggy. I licked my lips.
“Does it hurt somewhere?” Umiling ako sa kanyang tanong.
“I am fine. But how about you? You were shot.”
“It’s no big deal.” He cleared his throat.
“Right, how about Heiden?”
“Why do you ask about him? Are you now showing care for him?” He pouted and gave me a mean glare. I mentally chuckled. Nanatili ko siyang tinignan ng nagtatanong na mga mata. He snorted and avoided my stare. He crossed his arms. “Why would I save him? I’m sure he is now in the depths of the ocean. If he survive, I will kill him by my own hands.” I bit my lip to stop myself from chuckling because of how adorable he is.
This jealous creature...
“Get up. We will be going now.” I felt relieved and finally stood up. I extended my hand to help him. Ilang segundo niya pa itong tinignan bago nahihiyang inabot ang aking kamay at tumayo. He cleared his throat.
We safely landed at the higher area where we got back from the forest earlier. Hindi ko na naabutan ang aking kapatid at ilang mga kawal ng mga di Vonce lamang at si Davidron ang naiwan roon. Nakita kong nakatingin pa siya sa bangin bago humangos papalapit sa akin.
He must have evacuated Alluis to our house since it is heavily protected. Well, I have trust in the house’s safety and protection so I do not have to worry.
“Milady!”
“How is the situation?”
“We have eliminated most of the second prince’s troops and allies. Only the king and queen are still alive.” I nodded. He reported me where the queen is and I smirked of it.
“Should we kill the king?” I turned to Rionsky who was riding in a horse separated from me. Sabay kaming papunta sa dating palasyo kung saan naninirahan ang namayapang ina ni Rionsky.
“I have no grudge for him. How about you?” Natahimik ako sa kanyang tanong.
“Just let him live quietly until he dies.” A deafening silence after my retort. “Rionsky.” He turned to me. “Whoever got the queen’s head first, the other should not complain.” I bitterly smiled. Kita ko ang pag-awang ng kanyang mga labi bago siya marahang ngumiti sa akin na muntik nang magpatigil ng kabog ng aking dibdib. Napaiwas ako ng tingin.
What is this? I really feel overwhelmed when he smiles like that. I cannot hurt him.
“I’ll let you have it.” Kunot-noo ko siyang tinignan. “Her head.” He referred. My lips parted.
What? I thought he really hate the queen. Is he just going to let me have her head just like that?
I bit my lip.
“I do not get you.”
“If it makes you better...” I gulped and glanced at him. But it was a wrong choice for me since I really am overwhelmed of the beauty he is oozing of. Agad akong napaiwas ng tingin. “...it’s fine.” Why is it like this? It was not this big of what I am feeling whenever I see him. It was normal for me to see his usual handsomeness. Now, he is giving out damn pheromones in an oblivious way and I am being conscious of it. Dala ba ito ng pagbabalik ko sa dati kong buhay nang muntik na akong mawalan ng buhay?
I gritted my teeth.
Damn it, so confusing.
“I-I am going on ahead. What is your plan?”
“I will go to the coast. Heiden might still be alive.” Napatigil ako. I gulped hard.
That is true. Since he is the male lead, he will be tenacious. The law of this world does not apply here anymore but still, it is better to be cautious of possible threats.
“Okay.” Tango ko. Patatakbuhin ko na sana ang kabayo nang tumingin ako sa kanya. “Rionsky.” Hindi mapigilang lumabas mula sa aking bibig at tumingin siya sa akin.
What will I do? I was not supposed to call him but my mouth betrayed me. Tahimik lang sana ang sasabihin kong ganoon. Good grief. “Nevermind.” I avoided my eyes. Kunot-noo siyang nakatingin sa akin.
Be safe...
I tightly held the reigns and pulled it. Saka matulin na tumakbo ang kabayo papunta sa direksiyon na dating palasyo.
“Composure, Arisia.” I muttered as I remembered an embarrassing scene earlier. I sighed and pulled the reigns again when I infiltrated the old castle. Bigla akong pinanlibutan ng mga kawal sa labas. Hindi ako nagsayang ng oras at pinaslang sila sa isang iglap. Sinipa ko ang pintuan at bumukas ito ng may kakaibang ingay.
“Protect the king and queen!” Dumagundong ang boses ng isang kawal at itinutok sa akin ang espada. I rolled my eyes at sa isang wasiwas ng espada nawala ang ulo nito mula sa kanyang katawan. Kita ko ang pamimilog ng mga mata.
“You snake...” Asik ng reyna sa akin. “I thought you would be a good match for my son. Turns out that you’re with that---that filth!” Nagdilim ang aking paningin sa kanyang sinabi at napatawa.
She dares say that? Really?
I scoffed.
“Filth, huh?” My index finger went to the pointed tip of my sword. I smirked and looked at her with contempt. “Are you complimenting yourself?” Sarkastiko ko. Dumiin ang aking hintururo sa aking espada hanggang sa may lumabas na dugo rito. I smirked and licked my blood.
“Kill her! And hang her head in the center as a traitor!” She hysterically shouted and ordered her men to dispose me. Tinignan ko lamang sila ng malamig at hindi sila nakalapit sa akin. They were intimidated because of my performance earlier that they were scared to take a step.
Too weak.
“You know that this is treason, Arisia.” Napatingin ako sa hari na kalmadong nakatingin sa akin.
“I know, Father.” I blinked. “No, Your Majesty.” I corrected myself.
“Do you truly intend to support the crown prince?”
“Yes. Since then.” Ngisi ko. “Where are your shadow knights, Your Majesty? Are they not your best knights that protects you?” Tanong ko nang wala ang mga ito.
Strange.
“There is no need for that.” He sighed and stood up. He then gave me a warm smile that made me a bit confused. “I trust you and Rionsky to build this kingdom in a better shape.” Nabigla ako sa kanyang sinabi ngunit hindi ko ipinahalata.
So that is it, he supports the crown prince from the very beginning and intend to pass the crown to him even though he will rebel. How much does he adore him, really? Was it a request of the late queen or his own will?
“That is...a given.” I answered, though I have unanswered questions.
“No, what, dear?! What are you talking about? You should kill this treacherous snake!” Panunuro sa akin ng reyna. Malamig lang siyang tinignan ng hari. Sa isang iglap ay lumitaw sila. The shadow knights appeared one by one, now battling the heads of the troops. The latter were good but the shadow knights are a lot better. I would be lying if I said I was not stunned of the sudden events.
I have planned to spare the king but this is better.
Kahit naguguluhan ay ibinalik ko ang aking tingin sa nanginginig sa takot ng reyna. Tumunog ang mga takong ng aking sapatos habang lumalapit ako dito. I raised my sword.
She is now alone. Her knights are already dead. Her son is nowhere to be found. And now, to end her reign in the dark and in the eyes of all, she will be drawing her last breathe as of today.
I smirked.
This is it. I will finally quenched my thirst of blood of the queen. A revenge for my family. I would like to torture her but I do not want her filthy blood splattering around. Dirty.
“So long...queen.” Malamig ko siyang tinignan bago pinugot ang kanyang ulo. Her glare was the last thing she have given to me and it even had no effect.
Finally.
I grinned and licked my lips. Inilapit ko ang kanyang mukha sa akin. I whispered in her ears.
She may not hear it with her physical body but it will be engraved in her deepest part of her soul. “I will surely offer your head to my adorable prince Rionsky.”
