"EMILY!!", I shouted as I dreamt of Emily being taken away from me I suddenly got up and noticed the room around me and remembered where I was. I remembered I was with Emily when I met these guys I was very anxious as I started thinking about her
I was anxious but the medicine thankfully helped made me calm down and sleep at night.
I woke up the next morning and saw Izzy in my room
"Good Morning Veronica"
"Good morning Izzy"
"How are feeling"
"okay I guess"
"Well I have brought some clothes for you to see if they fit you"
"Yeah", I was getting up from the bed when she came and helped me
"Here slowly, let me help you"
"Thanks, Isabelle", "Izzy," she said "uh, okay Izzy" I smiled and went towards the clothing rack and picked up the clothes and went to the bathroom and got dressed
"Uhm Izzy , what's the mark on my stomach like a tatto or something?. And isn't these a bit tight you know like quite an open kind of tight"
"It's a healing rune Veronica I drew it on you. It helps you heal."
"You? You drew this on my body when, and why?"
"When you were unconscious, and it is one of the means you'll get healed fast. Don't worry much"
"Izzy likes to keep her body free, btw and I also have that rune on me. Jace drew it. See" Clary came into the room with some clothes while keeping them on the bed and showing me her's on her shoulder.
"My reaction was the same as you when I first saw them, but they look good on you I must say that. If you don't feel comfortable I have got some of the clothes in my size, try them on and tell me"
I took the pair of clothes and went to change I came out and looked at myself in the mirror the top was a bit loose from the ends
"Uhm is it okay if I wear Izzy's clothes these are a bit lose and my skin is showing a lot"
I turned around to look at Clary
"Sure no problem, you know what let's go and do some shopping sometime together this way we'll also get to know each other"
"I like the idea but for now, I'm going to change" I gave them a shy smile and changed into my previous clothes coming outside I carefully sat on the bed and they looked at me
"So Veronica tell us something about yourself?" They asked me
"Uhm I'm 20 currently and a college student pursuing a Major in Writing, love to read books, cook, and dance"
"Oh that's great I also love to dance" Izzy exclaimed
"And I love cooking, I can see we are going to be great friends very quickly," she said laughing a bit
"Yeah I think so too," I said looking at those two "Uhm btw I was thinking about this last night about what you're friend Jace said and is it true about what you guys said about yourself are you Shadow-hunters and are demons real"
"Yes Veronica we are shadow-hunters and demons do exist in real life it's just not everyone knows about them, they are bad of course going around and killing people but don't worry we are here to help and protect you" Izzy answered my question while comforting me
"Well can as Jace told you last night not everyone can see us people need abilities," Isabelle said
"She's right when I first saw Jace I was also a bit shocked as my friends couldn't see him unless he showed himself to them" Clary stated
"So you mean to say that I have some Supernatural vision or something?" I questioned looking at them
"It's not a supernatural vision Veronica but yes some people are born with it if their family member or someone you are related to is a shadow-hunter," Izzy said "Do you know someone like this in your family your mom, dad, uncle, aunt, or any friend by that matter" she continued
"Uhm no my mom is a fashion designer, and well my dad left us when I was 15 so ... no I don't think so"
"I'm so sorry to hear about that" Clary squeezed my hand while comforting me
"It's okay, thank you," I said
"I'm sorry too Veronica I didn't know you were having a hard time" Isabelle comforted me
"It's okay Izzy, everyone is having a hard time I guess I'm not the only one" I shrugged
"Hey you're not like other people, you're nice don't sell yourself short and anyways we are here for you when you need it"
"Clary's right you've got to own up to your life," Isabelle said in a demanding tone
"I do own up to my life but it's just my luck with having a peaceful life is not" I gave a smile
Suddenly there was a lot of noise outside in the lobby as if something big has happened
"What's going on outside?" I questioned them
"Guys Mr. and Mrs. Lightwood are here and they would like to meet all of you," A person dressed in a black outfit standing at the doorway said to us
"Okay we will be there" Isabelle answered that guy and he went back
"I guess it is time for you to meet my "lovely" parents and the Directors of this Institute," Isabelle said signing when said lovely and I understood they have a problem within them
"Parents!!!" I was shocked for a moment "wh-what do you mean parents, so you own this institute or something"
"Not me but our parents do"
"Ohh" I wide-eyed looked at her
"Well just try to be normal, they seem do seem very strict and rigid but are nice I was also very nervous and scared meeting them for the first time"
I gulped "you have already met them" I questioned Clary,
"Yes every new person who comes in here needs to meet them and know about the place, but don't worry you will do fine" Clary justified
"But first, let me just do the dressing of your wound" Isabelle had the bandage and some kind of herbal antiseptic liquid like something in her hand
"Clary some help, please"
"Yeah sure"
They both started changing the dressing of my wound
"Ow-Ow Ouch, Ahh it hurts a lot"
"I know I'm sorry to love the wound is still fresh so it will hurt just one more second and ..... done you're good to go". I wore the jacket lying next to me on the bed with the help of Clary
This is the outfit
"Let's go they don't like to wait especially my mom," Isabelle said
"Oh-okay"
After listening to what Isabelle said I understood " her mom is not the most friendly person I'll meet. She is someone I guess who must value time, and manners and must be very strict regarding rules and regulations being followed kind of woman whom I don't like.." I thought to myself while going out
We came out of the room and what seemed like a big giant hall in the middle of it were some screens and tables, chairs, and lots of things as we came into the hallway we walked straight for a moment passing all the screens and machines and stopped near a room. Isabelle and Clary looked at me and said "You ready"
"I guess I am" I was a lot nervous but tried to contain my composure
"Come" Isabelle opened the door as Clary and I stepped into what seemed like a conference room for meetings. I saw two people standing beside the long table that was in front of me
"Welcome To The Institute Young lady I'm Robert Lightwood" a man with a dusky complexion stepped up and greeted me with a cheerful smile on his face
"And I'm Maryse Lightwood we are the founder of this Institute and you are" a strong and quite poised woman with a powerful aura came and asked me. This was the first time I had met a woman in such power and with such an aura. She looked at me for the answer while I looked at her admiring her power
"Uh Veronica, I am Veronica Denver. Nice to meet you, ma'am, sir "
"Hmm so miss Veronica last night we did a background check on you after we got to know that you were brought here to the institute" the woman sat with her hands folded in front of the table with the man sitting next to her
"You did a background check on me but why I'm just here is because of this injury and I will leave this place as soon as I recover". "And if you're worried about me telling people about this" I pointed out towards the people standing with me "Then don't worry I won't tell anyone anything".
"I'll just live my normal life like I did till now" I defended myself raising my hands and moving them
"It is not about that young lady" you see the man in the suit stood up and came towards me and "first I would like you to take a seat"
he motioned toward the seat next to me
" There is something you should know," he said as I sat down and he went back to his original place
"But First I would like to apologize on behalf of my son's reckless action because of which you suffered an injury like this I'm sorry you had to go through something like that"
"At least someone is saying sorry unlike others here," I asserted in a sarcastic tone looking at the Alec guy while Jace, Clary, and Isabelle left a chuckle
"Everything okay there," he asked looking at all of us
"Uhm yeah, you don't have to say sorry sir after all it's not your fault that I got this injury but still I would like to thank you for the care and hospitality you are providing me with" I gave him a warm smile
"Well if you think so young lady and we are welcome for that" he extended a smile
"Now that we are done with the pleasantries there is something I need to tell all of you and you too Miss Veronica right" Maryse announced
"So, Veronica, you can see all of us right?"
"Yes, I can"
"Then this means that you're not a mundane " Maryse pointed out while looking at me as everyone was shocked that their doubts must have been true after all
"What does that mean" I questioned her
"That means you're not a human, you are something else" she exclaimed
"Last time I checked I was very much a human!!!" I replied in shock after hearing that women's statement
"Look what we are trying to say is that you are not human if you can see all of us because"- I cut Robert mid-sentence
"Because it is not possible for humans to see all of you right I get it I have heard it but how is it possible? I'm just a normal person like anyone else I have a family, and friends and I go to college just like any other normal human being then how can I be different? "
"It is very much possible considering your blood sample which we took" a guy with blonde hair with tattoos all over his body came in and continued "consists to be a mixture of a Shadow-hunter and One of a Witch"
" You- you guys took my blood sample when I was unconscious without my consent. How could you?!!!" I shouted at them knowing they ran a test on me without telling me and here all of these guys were asking me to trust them and let them help me.
"Look I know it's difficult for you to understand this but we also had a reason to do it, Ms. Veronica" The guy with the weird tattoo's stated
The guy with blonde hair and with tattoos all over his body came in and continued :
"which I believe consists to be a mixture of ONE of a Shadowhunter and ONE of a Witch. Now that is the reason why she can see you all "
"What are you saying " I was shocked after what he just said
"What the hell," Isabelle asked
"No way," Alec said
"How is it possible Hodge," Jace asked the blonde guy covered in tattoos
"These days it is quite rare to find someone with this blood type" Isabelle exclaimed
"What you said is true but in some cases, it is possible Isabelle." that guy said
"My name is Hodge by the way" he extended his hand toward me in hope of an intro
"I-I'm Veronica", I shook his hand introducing myself with the least interest in meeting this guy
"I see you've got a wound there" he pointed toward my right shoulder
"How-how do you know I have an injury and that too on my left shoulder"
"Simple enough, you have your left arm rested on the table and not lifting the right arm and you seem worried about it so keep looking over there. Secondly, I helped Izzy with the medicine but didn't know it was for you"
"Ohh, I-I see thank you for your help"
"No problem, it's my job to help people in need" he spoke
"But how is it possible, that I'm what do you call a shadowhunter and a witch, and do you even have the proof of that?"
"Yes, we do Ms. Danvers Is this your mother?" The woman Maryse moved a picture in front of me on the table
I looked at the picture in front of me, my mom was dressed in a black outfit which I have never seen before "Yes she is my mother but why is she dressed like that"
I looked up at the two people sitting in front of me on the opposite side
"Veronica you're mother is a Witch"
"What!!!" I was shocked to hear this. " but how is this possible?"
"It is," Maryse said "well then" she showed me another picture and asked me
"Is this your dad Ms. Danvers? "
I was shocked for a while looking at the picture in front of me "Uhm yes that is my dad but how -how did you get a hold of a photograph. I haven't since him since I- ". I stopped before saying much as I didn't want to reveal any more I was looking at them with so many questions in my eyes
"To tell you the truth your parents are shadow hunters and a witch Ms. Denver's your mother helped us back then when you were a child in getting some information about Valentine and as per your dad "
"He worked under Valentine and helped your mother once that's how they got to know each other. Now that I see you look quite like Kara and Richard"
Maryse exclaimed looking at me
As Maryse, Robert and Hodge began telling me their history I couldn't wrap my head around what was going on there in that room it felt as if everything I was told till now or what I had seen all my life was all a lie a cold lie.
"Enough, this is enough I don't want to hear anything about all this stupid history of your's I'm leaving" I slammed my hand on the table and turned away walking towards the door
"Hey you can't leave the institute" Alec interrupted me blocking my path mid-way
"Say sorry to the leaders for disrespecting them" he added
Veronica looked up to his level and stared at his eyes and he could see her eyes were a bit wet with tears which she was controlling so hard for not trying to cry and were also filled with anger. His gaze softened for a moment looking at her and he cleared his throat
"I'm sorry if I disrespected any elder members of the institute by any chance but I'm sorry I can't be a part of whatever this is what you want from me," she said looking sideways in their direction then looked straight at the door and said
"I won't leave the institute I just want to stay in my room, for now, I'm not feeling well. I just wanna be alone " she moved past Alec and ran through the corridor into her room with tears in her eyes
Veronica's stance
As soon as I reached my room I closed the door and started sinking on the floor with tears in my eyes
I crouched down in front of the door crying and thinking about what just happened in that room
"Why mom, why did you lie to me I thought we were friends first and then a mother and daughter we shared everything then how come you never told me anything about this and dad? Why did you lie to me about all this and didn't tell me that you were working for some supernatural people all this while going to work for your Fashion Company "
I was crying while thinking about how could've mom and dad had done this
Back in the room
"I am sorry for her behaviour sir, ma'am she doesn't know the rules but I will teach her a lesson. She will not disrespect you again "
Alec bowed his head for a moment
"There is no need for that Alec, she is not herself right now. Everything is new to her, especially her parent's true identity. She needs time" Robert said signalling Alec to sit down
"Sir is right Alec she needs time she is already hurt and now with all this her family is people with powers and she had to know like this. We need to help her "Jace said
"Jace is right Alec she needs someone to be there with her right now, not someone to teach her to do things she's not ready for yet," Isabelle said
Everyone was discussing the situation in the room but still, Alec could not forget the look he saw in her eyes when she looked at him.
Those hazel brown eyes filled with tears and hurt and angry she was, he zoned out for a moment while thinking about her while Jace was calling him
Alec, snapped and saw his surroundings and then toward Jace
"You okay, buddy," he asked
"Yes I'm okay," he said
The meeting ended and Veronica was in the room trying to get a grip on her life right now and understand the incident that took place in her life. As if it was bound to happen one day
and her life was about to change for the Good or not.
