girl of steel
it's just another night, and i'm staring at the moon
i saw a shooting star and thought of you
trigger
i sang a lullaby by the waterside and knew
if you were here, i'd sing to you
far from the tree
you're on the other side
as the skyline splits in two
the faithful
miles away from seeing you
damage
but i can see the stars from america
midvale
wake up
i wonder, do you see them too?
the flash reborn
so open your eyes and see
the way our horizons meet
mixed signals
and all of the lights will lead
into the night with me
luck to be a lady
and i know these scars will bleed
but both of our hearts believe
elongated journey into night
all the stars will guide us home
i can hear your heart
girls night out
boys night out
on the radio beat
when harry met harry
they're playing 'chasing cars'
therefore i am

i looked across and fell in love
crisis on earth-x: PART TWO

can you see the stars over amsterdam?
legion of superheroes
hear the song my heart is beating to?

all of these stars will guide us home
the elongated knight rises
i can see the stars from america

in search of lost time
when my hair's all gone
and my memory fades
of two minds
and the crowds don't remember my name
when my hands don't play the strings the same way

I know you will still
love me the same

I'm thinking 'bout how

harry and the harrisons
maybe it's all part of a plan
I'll just keep on making the same mistakes
shelter from the storm
hoping that you'll understand
take me into your loving arms

At Central City Hospital, a doctor stood in the little girls room, who was now awake in a bed, with her mother sitting next to her. "Okay, you just rest up, okay? I'm gonna come back and check on you in a little while," the doctor said and Laura nodded before the doctor walked out into the hallway to be met with Barry, Kara and Ralph. "Well, mild concussion, a hairline fracture in her leg. She's young. She'll heal fast."

"Okay, thank you, Doctor," Barry said.

"You're very welcome. But, considering the accident, she's very lucky to be alive," the doctor said before she walked away.

Kara then sighed deeply before turning to Ralph, angrily. "Ralph, we need to talk. You can't just-"

"Don't," Ralph said, putting a hand in her face, and she stared at him oddly. "Just — Just forget it, okay?" He then walked away and both Kara and Barry watched him go conflicted.

STAR Labs

Cisco slowly walked into his workshop to find Harry writing a bunch of equations on a clear board. "Hey, buddy," Cisco said but Harry kept his eyes on the board. "You planning on bringing the band back together, or should I clear out the Speed Lab?"

"Broom it. We don't need that Council of Incompetents," Harry said.

"Huh!" Cisco exclaimed. "Is that what we're calling them now? Cause, uh, I distinctly remember you saying they were the brightest minds in all the multiverse."

"And the most annoying," Harry said as he looked back at Cisco. "I thought if I surrounded myself with people like me, I would like them. I don't like them. I hate them. I hate them all."

"Hm," Cisco hummed before clicking his tongue. "Strong words."

"You saw them, Ramon, right? That Wolfgang Wells? He's always correcting people — An extremely annoying habit. The other guys — the Free Willy Wells? He's so full of himself. And the other, Cyborg Wells? You know how he lost his eye? His daughter gouged it out at the Solstice Combat Games. I don't blame her. I'd have done the same. I'd like to gouge out the other eye," Harry ranted before looking back at the board.

"Harry," Cisco sternly said.

"What?" Harry asked.

"You know you're essentially complaining about yourself, right?" Cisco said and Harry looked back at him.

"Ramon, do your best to pay attention to the conversation. I'm not complaining about myself. I'm complaining about them," Harry said but Cisco gave him an annoyed look. "Yes, we're doppelgängers. We look alike. But we have completely different personalities."

He patted Cisco's shoulder, but Cisco just scoffed. "So, you don't think you can be quick to correct people? You don't think you can be full of yourself?" Cisco asked.

"Full of myself?" Harry asked, insulted. "No, I'm amazing. I'm fantastic. I'm talking about them. I don't like them. I hate them. I hate them all."

"You know what I think?" Cisco asked. "I think this is entirely about yourself. I think underneath all your brain and bluster, you actually don't have a very high opinion of yourself."

"What?" Harry asked.

"Why do you think it's so hard for you to make new friends?" Cisco asked as Harry faced the board again.

"I don't have a hard time-" Harry said while laughing.

"Harry," Cisco sternly said and Harry stopped laughing. "No one's gonna like you if you don't like yourself first. These weirdos over here, they didn't have to answer our call for help. But they did cause you would've done the same." Harry then looked back at Cisco reluctantly. "And yes, there are some really annoying, rough parts of you, but you know what? I've seen some amazing parts too. Cause sometimes, you're a hard-ass, you're a hero. Sometimes you're a wizard, Harry." Harry gave him a look while Cisco smiled. "The Council of Wells  — if you wanna make that work you have to start treating yourself with some compassion. All of yourselves."

———

Harry and Cisco stood in the Speed Lab, in front of the Council of Wells again, who all looked annoyed to see Harry again. "Now is the time that Simple Harry has come to insult us even more?" Herr Wells asked.

"I didn't call to insult. I called to," Harry said before he sighed. "Apologize."

"Apologize?" Herr Wells asked.

"Apologizing is punishable by banishment under Krung the Face-Crusher!" Wells 2.0 exclaimed aggressively.

"All right, well that's unfortunate," Harry said as Cisco stared at Wells 2.0 concerned. "Look, I know you guys prefer to work alone. You don't wanna work with other people. You think you're so smart, you can just push them away, and I can say that because I'm one of you, but if we're going to find our DeVoe then we have to work together. We have to work as...friends."

"Friends...with benefits?" H. Lothario Wells asked.

"Yeah, no, we're not doing that, but I'm sure we can all find something that we like in one another," Harry said before he looked at Wells 2.0. "Like you, Wells 2.0. You're clearly very resourceful and strong." He then looked at H. Lothario Wells. "And you, you're extremely charismatic. I'm sure you can recruit top talent to your research teams."

"Oh, I bring the talent," H. Lothario Wells said.

"Yeah," Harry said before he turned to Herr Wells. "And you, Herr Wells, you're very...blunt."

"Ja, obviously," Herr Wells said.

"Right, but can we just — can you," Harry said, gesturing to each other.

"Yeah, sure," H. Lothario Wells said before he looked at Herr Wells. "And I'm sorry, man. What I said before about your, you know, your theory on the behavioral upbringings of nano-serial killers being un-chill was uncalled for. I shouldn't have said that. It's a very groovy theory. Good on you."

"Ja, uh, danke. I suppose that when I said that your theory on narcotics in molecular psychiatry was stupider than a theory made by tiny babies, that — that was uncalled for also," Herr Wells said.

"There we go," Harry said with a smile before H. Lothario Wells turned to Wells 2.0.

"Yeah, and I'm digging the whole creepy half-man, half-metal vibe you got going on," H. Lothario Wells told him.

"I just wanna say...all of you I really respect the fact that each one of you has...two eyes," Wells 2.0 said.

"Yeah, hey, well, um, we all agree on something," Harry stammered. "So, on that note, I hereby reconvene the Council of Wells. Now, about our DeVoe-"

"Well, about DeVoe," Herr Wells started. "Perhaps if we were to combine the Bates-Novick of our mutant friend here with my models of statistical elimination,"

"I'll do you one more. Maybe we enhance your elimination models with a psych profile based on DeVoe's previous action. I could whip up a predictive algorithm," H. Lothario Wells said.

"Ja, Ja, Ja, Ja," Herr Wells agreed.

"Run it through my quantum cerebral chip, we'll find him in no time," Wells 2.0 said.

"I'm starting to see why you called these guys," Cisco told Harry.

"Yeah, all right. Gentlemen, let's get to work," Harry said.

Ralph Dibny's Office

That night, Kara slowly opened the door of the office, to find Ralph sitting at his desk, his back facing the door. She softly knocked at the door but Ralph didn't move. "If you're here to tell me how I royally screwed up, letting that little girl get hurt, trust me, I know," Ralph said and Kara sighed to herself. "I keep feeling all these feelings guilt remorse heartburn."

"Ralph," Kara muttered annoyed and Ralph crinkled his eyebrows confused. "That's gross...but maybe I can help with the rest."

Ralph slowly turned towards her, confusion written on him. "Kara?" He asked.

"Yeah, Barry sent me," Kara said, crossing her arms. "Wants us to get along." She then looked down at his desk, to see a bunch of photographs of couples kissing. "What's this?"

"Past cases. Those were simpler times. Husband stepping out on wife, wife stepping out on husband — husband stepping out on wife and husband. That one was a little less simple," Ralph said.

"Ralph, what's your point?" Kara asked.

"My point is when I was a PI, I didn't have to worry about little girls in hospital. I just had to get the dirt. Whatever happened after that, I wasn't there to see it. Now all I see are people getting hurt or about to get hurt. And then for six years, I got by without caring about anyone," Ralph explained. "Now I have to care about a whole city?"

"If it makes you feel any better, Barry and I have to worry about two whole cities," Kara said.

"It doesn't," Ralph said and Kara nodded.

"Okay, then how about — this is a part of the job, Ralph. The most important part. Rule number one," Kara told him.

"How do you do it? How do you walk, or fly, around knowing what could happen to all those people?" Ralph asked.

"It's not always easy, but you just have to do the best you can. Always. And when that's not enough, you lean on the people around you," Kara said.

"Oh, you — you mean you?" Ralph asked and Kara smiled.

"And Barry," she said and Ralph smiled. "Look, Barry brought you into this because he thinks that you have the makings of a hero, but I would be lying if I said there wouldn't be hard days. I've definitely had plenty of those. But when you're there, you need someone to turn to. Barry's my person...maybe Barry and I can be yours. If you want."

"You'd do that for me?" Ralph asked and Kara nodded with a smile.

"We will make it our personal mission to protect your heart, Ralph Dibny," she said and he smiled back. "I actually think it's great that you're feeling all this stuff. But don't forget, that little girl is gonna be okay. And we got the bad guy."

"We got the bad guy," Ralph said and the two smiled at each other.

But then, her phone started to ring, so she pulled her phone out and answered it. "What's up?" Her smile dropped annoyed. "Okay, great. We're on our way." She hung up the phone and looked Ralph. "I spoke too soon."

STAR Labs

Kara and Ralph walked into the cortex to find Iris, Barry and Caitlin there, waiting for them. "Joe just called. Chaytan escaped from CCPD," Caitlin said.

"Apparently, she made a tactical dummy go full Terminator at the station," Iris said.

"Well, we know where she's going," Barry said.

"The necklace," Kara said and Barry nodded.

"The two pieces she stole have been reunited with the third piece at the museum," Caitlin said.

"She has killed for these before. She will kill anyone that gets in her way to reclaim them. It's up to us," Barry said before he looked at Ralph. "Are you ready?"

"Well, I was until you said that," Ralph said.

"What are you-"

"Jeez Louise, man. What kind of rousing Braveheart speech was that?" Ralph asked.

"Just put your thing on," Barry said before he walked off and Kara took off her glasses.

"Wanna help me?" Ralph asked.

"No," Barry said.

"It's really tight," Ralph said.

"Hurry up!" Barry yelled.

Central City Museum

Mina sneaked her way through the building until she found the bison necklace on display. "Hello, beautiful," she said as she walked up to the display. She smashed in the glass window surrounding it. She pulled the necklace out and clipped it around her neck.

She sighed relieved before turning around to find The Flash, Supergirl and Ralph standing behind her. "Mina, put it down," Supergirl said.

"That belongs in a museum," Ralph said.

"This is a museum," Flash muttered to him.

"I realized that after I said it," Ralph muttered back.

"Yes. You keep it here as part of American history. But we're not history. We are still here — still sacred, as is this necklace. It's going back to the Sioux. Get out of my way," Mina demanded.

"Not after the people you've hurt, Mina. And you're not gonna hurt anyone else," Ralph said.

"Is that so?" Mina asked, before tilting her head a little.

The three heard something walking slowly behind them. They slowly looked back to see a T-Rex skeleton walking towards them, roaring right in their faces. "Seriously?" Supergirl as Mina ran off.

"Don't. Move. Their vision. Is based. On movement," Ralph whispered but then the T-Rex roared right in their faces. The Flash zoomed off and Supergirl flew off while Ralph ran off. "That move is filled with lies!"

Ralph stretched up onto the second story of the museum, and sighed to himself. "We have a T. Rex." The Flash suddenly began to zoom around the T. Rex in constant circles before he ran up across the spine of the dinosaur. But the tail flung him up in the air, then threw him across the room, him crashing into the glass box that once held the bison necklace.

Right then, Mina was running up the stairs when a security guard came running out. "What's going on in here?"

But Mina was stopped when Ralph jumped out in front of her. "Stop! I got you," he said but the T. Rex roared in the security guard's face, causing him to gasp in fear.

"Whatcha gonna do, superhero?" Mina asked.

Mina continued to run off and right before the T. Rex could reach down and kill the security guard, Ralph stretched over, pushing the security guard out of the way. The T. Rex bit onto Ralph, and shook him around, trying to eat him. "For the love of Jeff Goldblum, stop!" He yelled. He then stretched his way out from the predator's mouth, and wrapped himself around the jaw tightly so the T. Rex couldn't do anything else.

———

Meanwhile, Mina ran into an exhibit with more Native American artifacts, trying to escape everyone as fast as she could. But she wasn't so lucky. She suddenly stopped, gasping in surprise when Supergirl zoomed in front of her. "You're really never going to stop coming after me, are you?" Mina asked as Supergirl slowly started to approach her.

"No, not my style," she said.

"Do you have any idea how many things I can bring to life in this place?" Mina asked as Supergirl stepped in front of a artifact. A bowl. The name under it read: SIOUX OFFERING BOWL. And Supergirl knew exactly what she needed to do. "The gargoyles on the roof. The reliefs carved into the walls and support pillars. I can bring this whole place down in a matter of seconds."

"But you won't, because there is one thing you care about more than vengeance, isn't there?" Supergirl asked, before she grabbed the bowl, and threw it in the air.

Mina gasped, staring as the bowl went up in the air, wanting to catch it, but in the meantime, Supergirl cuffed her with some meta cuffs, just in time to catch the bowl. "Kinda can't believe you fell for that." She then set the bowl back in its place before dragging Mina away by the cuffs. "Come along now."

———

Back downstairs, Ralph was still fighting the T. Rex while still wrapping around it's jaw. But suddenly, the T. Rex become still again and Ralph slipped down from its jaw.

Supergirl and Mina walked down the steps as The Flash walked up to Ralph when he stood up. "You almost let her escape," Supergirl joked.

"Well, I kept hearing your stupid voice telling me to protect the innocent," Ralph said and Supergirl smiled before she continued to walk out with Mina.

"Nice job, rookie," Flash said to Ralph before he followed Supergirl.

Ralph laughed a little before looking up at the T. Rex. "Good boy. Stay," he muttered before following the heroes out.

STAR Labs

The next morning, Ralph was sitting in the cortex, eating a sandwich when Barry walked in, talking to someone on the phone. "All right, sounds good. I'll let everybody know," Barry said before he hung up and looked at Ralph. "Hey. That was Joe. He says that Warden Wolfe has Chaytan locked up at Iron Heights far, far away from any mannequins, statues, or-"

"Effigies," Ralph said with a smile. "Looked it up. Still say it sounds kinda dirty, but I'm not the mayor of the dictionary, so whatever."

"Joe also said that the cleanup crew at the museum still hasn't found the bison necklace," Barry added.

"Huh," Ralph said, looking back at a magazine he was reading. "Guess somebody might have mailed it back to the Sioux reservation."

"Somebody?" Barry asked suspiciously and Ralph slowly looked at him again.

"You gonna yell at me again?" He asked.

"No, not for this one," Barry said before Ralph stood up, placing his magazine and sandwich down.

"Mina's friends and family...they've been hurt for too long. And I'm not sure if you've heard this saying before, but a superhero's first job is to protect people," Ralph said and Barry smiled.

"Wise words," Barry said and Ralph nodded. "You want a coffee on me? For real this time,"

"Uh, thanks, but I gotta see about a girl," Ralph said before he walked out of the cortex and Barry smiled.

———

Later on, Barry re-entered the cortex with Joe, to find Cisco, Caitlin, Kara, and Iris. "Hey," Barry said and they all looked back at him. "What's going on?"

"We think we know who he is," Caitlin said.

"According to Harry's friends, the name we're looking for is Clifford. Clifford DeVoe," Cisco told him.

"Ninety-two percent match to our psychological profile. No other DeVoe comes close," Harry said.

"Guy keeps a low profile, no social media, no criminal record," Kara said. "And we know where he's hiding," Harry said while smiling. "43 Hibbard Lane."

"Well, if he's as dangerous as you said I can call Singh. We can get a squad over there," Joe said.

"Yeah, and Mon-El said he'd meet you over there," Iris said.

"No," Barry simply said. "Let's go get him. Mon too — Guys, Thawne, Zoom, Savitar, for once, we actually have a chance here to get ahead of our enemy. Let's go get DeVoe."

43 Hibbard Lane

After parking the car in front of the house, Barry, Mon-El and Joe got out of the car and stood in the driveway of the house hesitantly. "Is this the place?" Mon asked.

"This is the one," Barry said before they continued to walk up to the house. "Is everyone set?"

"Girl of Steel is ready when you are."

"Eye in the Sky is a go."

"I have eyes on the front door."

"Snow and Frost standing by."

"Just give us the word and we'll breach in."

Barry, Mon and Joe stepped on the front porch, to be met with a welcome mat, and Joe looked confused. "What kind of criminal mastermind has a welcome mat?" Joe asked.

Barry sighed before he rung the doorbell, and just a few seconds later, a woman answered the door. She had dark curly hair, a long blue wavy dress, and had an accent — like she was from a different country. "Hi, can I help you?"

"Uh, yes, ma'am," Joe said as Barry and Mon stared at the woman oddly. "I'm Detective Joe West, CCPD. This is Barry Allen and Mike Matthews, my associates."

"Is everything okay?" The woman asked.

"Uh, yes. Uh, we were just hoping to talk with Clifford DeVoe. Is he here?" Barry asked.

"Yes, he is. May I ask what this is about, officers?" The woman asked.

"We just need to ask him some questions, that's all," Mon assured.

"Is something wrong? Is my husband in trouble?" She asked.

"Your husband?" Barry questioned.

"No, ma'am," Joe cut in.

"Clifford," the woman called out, though she stared at the three men skeptical. "The police are here. They'd like a word."

Then the man they were looking for, came along to the door, curly hair, creepy face — in a wheelchair. "Thank you, dear," he told his wife as the three on the doorstep looked subtly confused. "Good afternoon, gentlemen. I'm Clifford DeVoe. How may I be of help?"
