hey everyone. i'm thinking, when i've finished writing the whole story, i'll go back and rewrite it all in third person. i feel like it would all flow more cohesively in third person and all that (and ahah it's completely nothing to do with how cringy it is in first- uh huh TOTALLY). but it will be in a certain person's third perspective, so for example, take these random sentences i came up with:

"I looked outside, absentmindedly fidgeting with my hands as the rain continued to beat down heavily on the window outside. I wondered if the relentless torrent would ever stop- well, it was relentless. I doubted it would."

crappy, i know, but that's not the point. now, if i put it in Adrien's third person:

"Adrien looked outside, absentmindedly fidgeting with his hands as the rain continued to beat down heavily on the window outside. He wondered if the relentless torrent would ever stop- well, it was relentless. The blonde boy doubted it would."

see the difference? well if not, i'm sorry- there's not much more i can do. in retrospect, i should've decided that at the end, because now I'll be compelled to write like that- ughhhh. but anyway, that's just a small heads up! moving on to the chapter!

i feel like this fanfic will be coming to its natural close soon, don't you?

Bridgette's POV

"Luka!"

Lu-who?

"Marinette!" The newly identified boy, Luka, laughed as Marinette ran at him.

"How'd you get in? Where's Adrien? How'd you knock out a guard? Where's Alya? How'd you-"

"Woah, slow down," he chuckled, "one question at a time, please!"

Marinette grinned sheepishly as I raised an eyebrow at him expectantly.

He opened his mouth to speak but was cut short by a series of odd sounds coming from down the corridor. Loud, angry voices yelling over each other as frantic stumbling and the drawing of swords could be heard. It was faint, but it grew louder with each passing second. Luka's eyes widened as he glanced nervously in the direction of the noise. Felix spoke up, a calculating, intense look on his face as he strained his ears to work out the danger. "I'm estimating around 20 men. All wearing armour- and all armed with swords. I'd suggest we get out of here."

We all nodded in agreement, running down the musty hallway.

~

I came up short of breath. We'd been chased for- well, I couldn't tell you. Time had faded and all I could concentrate on was my one line of thought. This is your last chance. Do not get caught. Powered on this thought alone, I sprinted down the endless maze of twists and turns with my friends- and this boy Marinette knew. I made a mental note to interrogate him later.

Caught up in my thoughts, I hadn't even noticed when the adrenaline of the chase had worn off and I began panting. And here we are now, back to the present.

I came up short of breath. I looked around at everyone else, and they seemed to have trouble running too. We kept powering on, but after a short while, we just couldn't. We collapsed on the floor, doubling over and wheezing. Man, despite my training, I was really out of shape. I'd have to focus more on my stamina when we got back home.

I stopped at the thought. I hadn't even noticed, but I'd been pushing away a certain question since we began our quest- would we ever make it back home? But I guess that had been obvious enough to me. Our quest was simple- retrieve a book, retrieve the ingredients said book asked for, and return home to help my father, who, according to Marinette, was sick. Like I said- simple. But the question was now beginning to weigh on my shoulders. Clearly, the plan had not gone exactly how we hoped it would. Instead of getting the book, we got kidnapped and were now escaping from- well, god-knows-where at this point. I guess it was now questionable- would we ever make it back home? That goal, I realised, taking Marinette's hand and standing up, was less likely than it had ever been. And that truly scared me.

"So..." Felix smiled, "I think we lost them."

I strained my ears to hear the clanking of armour and the rampage of footsteps but all I could hear was our heavy breathing and my heart. It was beating so loudly I was afraid everyone could hear it.

"Now that they're out of the way," I spoke up, trying to regain some control of my tired body, "I think you'd better begin from the beginning, Luka."

Okay, maybe I was acting slightly paranoid. Yeah- just a little bit paranoid. But in my defence, can you blame me? A weird-looking teenager just shows up (yeah, yeah, I know- I'm one to talk) and I'm just supposed to trust him?

Sure, that's exactly what my sister did, but come on! She is my sister!

Then again, this boy does know your sister. Shouldn't you trust him? The voice in my head said.

I instantly shut it down. Arguing with that voice never ends well.

He nodded in agreement. I was glad he was complying with my request instead of blatantly defying me. That would've been awkward.

Settling down against the cold, mossy stone of the dark maze we were trapped in (seeing as though we seemed to have enough time to rest a bit before moving on) I sighed and turned my attention to Luka.

He began to speak. He told everything that had happened after Marinette had left. He told us how they knew she was alive as the akumas had kept on purifying- to which she protested, loudly, "It seemed like a good idea at the time!"- and how Lila had moved into their cabin; to which she also protested, "Oh hell no, not that son of a-". He recounted everything that had happened until he had reached the palace- including that kiss at the ball we'd been to (and how Adrien wouldn't stop freaking out about it, which rewarded us a blushing Marinette).

"So," he then goes, "we split up to go look for you, right? So, I go investigate my assigned area for around 20 minutes. Obviously, I didn't find anything since you were way down here, but we were all really confident you had to be around the castle somewhere."

I raised my eyebrow (I seemed to be doing a lot of that lately) at the word "we". Luka noticed this. "Oh, and by 'we' I mean me, Alya, Nino, Kagami and Adrien, though I guess he wasn't there at this point."

Marinette blinked. Once. Twice.

"Wait- if you- and you all- then that me- you all know each other's identities?!"

"Well yeah, Marinette, I mean you did write those letters, we all read them, and it all came together pretty quickly after."

"Letters?" Felix and I jumped in, looking questioningly at my sister.

She shrugged it off. "I'll explain later. What happened next?"

"Well, when we all decided it was time to regroup, Adrien wasn't there. We all figured that he'd just gotten a bit caught up in searching for you, I've never seen him so distressed- ow, Marinette, that one hurt- so we'd decided to wait it out." Luka smiled bitterly. "Wish we hadn't. Because by the time we decided to go look for him-" he paused for dramatic effect- "he was gone."

We all fake gasped in horror. The paralyzing tragedy! The panic-inducing terror! We all looked simultaneously at each other and burst out laughing. Maybe it was because of how dramatic Luka was being as he told the story. Maybe it was out of sheer absurdity. Or maybe we...were just losing our minds.
Whatever the cause behind it, we laughed uncontrollably. And honestly, it scared me.

Our laughter was short-lived, however- because this was, actually, a serious matter.

After we'd sobered up, Luka continued. "The first time we'd swept around, we didn't find anything. We were determined that he had to be around somewhere, that we'd missed something, so we went again, this time paying more attention to close details. We lucked out though; I just managed to spot a little hole in the side of the castle as some light happened to reflect across it. I called everyone over, and we went to check it out.

Upon seeing it, my first thoughts went to you guys. I don't know, something about it just didn't sit right with me. The others, however, didn't believe me. They all turned around, about to leave when I found a strand of Adrien's hair lying next to the hole. Finally believing me, we all debated. Should we send one down or all of us? Eventually, we decided to just send one, and hey! Yours truly volunteered.

I signalled to the others that I was fine, and I insisted I keep going, the others reluctantly agreeing. After that, it wasn't long before I came across you guys! Just knocked down a lone guard who was falling behind his group and joined them after putting on his armour and hiding him in a dark corner somewhere."

We all stared in shock. I think I needed to do a little bit of a re-evaluation of Luka:

Dang.

Luka rubbed the nape of his neck sheepishly as we all gaped at him. "Ah, c'mon guys, don't make it awkward- it really wasn't that big of a deal. I just did what anyone would have done in that situation."

"Luka..." Felix raised his eyebrows (good, I wasn't the only one, he seemed to be doing it a lot too), "it may shock you to learn that not everyone would have risked their lives for their friends. Still, I can't even- just- thank you. So much."

He stood up and brushed the dirt that was accumulating on his legs as Marinette and I offered our thanks too. "Well," I started, tugging on the sleeves of Marinette's hospital gown, "we should get moving now, I think. We may have thrown off the guards for a while, but not forever- they'll be back sooner or later and I for one would like to put as much distance in between us and them as possible."

"Agreed." Marinette stood. "Let's move!"

~

Around 15 minutes later, I was at the front of the group, when I spotted something weird in the ceiling. I immediately stuck my arm out so the others would stop and we could investigate.

"Bridgette?" Felix murmured. "What's up?" He came up next to me and frowned at the metal sticking out from above us.

"What is that?" Marinette questioned as she leaned out to touch it. Unfortunately, Marinette taking after Her fingertips made contact with the metal and a clod of dirt fell away, breaking into smaller pieces as it hit the ground.

Our feet now showered in dirt, we approached the door with a bit more caution. We all steered clear when Luka reached out, this time scraping gently at a piece of moss clinging to the door. Not long after it fell to reveal a small indent in the metal.

I had no idea what to make of it. Neither did the others, apparently, as we all stood there in silence, trying to process what it meant.

Finally, a lightbulb went off in my head. "Wait a minute, get out of the way guys..." I gripped tightly onto the indent and pulled as hard as I could. It took a few tries, but eventually the piece of metal swung down and a rope ladder uncoiled from above.

"A trap door!" Marinette clapped. "Finally put that brain of yours to use, Bridgette? I'm so proud of you!"

"Shut it, Marinette," I swatted her away, "you're no better yourself."

Felix gripped the rope. "Well, I wouldn't be a 'gentleman' if I didn't offer you, ladies, the chance to go first, but that's gender stereotypical. See you on the other side!" He winked at me and started climbing.

My sister waved her hand in front of my face. "B-Bri- Bridge, you're staring at his- Bridgette- I give up."

I tore my eyes away from Felix's- uh- never mind. "Huh? What?"

Luka just smirked. "Never you mind, just climb."

~

Once we had all made it up the ladder Felix rolled it up and closed the door behind him.

Which was a total big-brain moment, since now we couldn't see.

"Where are we?" I wasn't expecting an answer, but all I got back were echoes of "Where are we? Where are we? Where are we?" over and over again.

"Somewhere spacious, clearly. Probably a m-mansion or an art gallery of the s-sorts." Felix fumbled around for a light switch and almost tripped over his own feet as he was speaking.

The shadows whispered back at him, "of the s-sorts...of the s-sorts...of the s-sorts..."

"Oh shut up," he snapped, "it's pitch black in here- I can't see a thing!"

Luka, who'd also been looking for a light switch in the darkness, made a muffled sound of delight. "Ah, I found it!" He flipped it on, and we all gaped for what seemed like the hundredth time today.

This place seemed familiar to my companions, who stifled screams as they looked around. It was a very nice, modern space- the walls were a nice white, pillars stood next to a large staircase which branched off left and right onto the next level of the mansion. An elegant black pattern covered the otherwise sparkling clean marble floor. I looked around for the trap door we'd just come out of. It was tucked away in one corner, just out of sight.

But what really caught my eye (well, both of them, but you catch my drift) was a large painting. It hung in the middle of the staircase, right where it branched off. A picture of a very uptight-looking man, with slicked-back hair and blue eyes. Not blue eyes like Marinette's, or mine, but intimidating, icy blue eyes that seemed to darken the longer I looked at them. This man did seem familiar... but I couldn't place his name. Dressed in a suit, his body posture was straight and firm, a hand resting on the shoulder of...

It was my turn to stifle a scream. I now knew where I'd seen this man- at the ball! He was lingering around in the crowd, but his hair made him easily visible among the throng. His hair looked like it matched his personality: stuck up. It matched his expression in the painting

In the painting, the man was resting his hand on the shoulder of his son.

His son, who had soft golden hair and piercing green eyes.

His son, who wore a downcast expression which was reflected in his body posture- he wasn't standing as straight, almost slumped over.

His son, who my sister had fallen for.

That son was Adrien Agreste.

And we were in the Agreste Mansion.

A/N: um... i know it's been a while- a month exactly...

well, you'll be happy to know i'm out of writer's block! again!

i finished this chapter at around 1:30AM last night, and i was so hyped i began writing the next chapter on the spot (i would've posted last night but the WiFi on my laptop turns off at midnight and i always write on Word instead of WattPad so i have a back-up version, so i couldn't post).

but then i hit a plot hole i'd created. a really bad one.

someone, for the love of the gods, please explain to me.

Felix has a mother. who appears in the show.

tell me why i made him an orphan at the age of 6.

i've constantly said that Felix and Bridgette live alone together. and were orphans.

have been mentally screaming my head off ever since i found out at 2AM. but don't worry, i'll figure something out!

see you next time!
