I'm happy for mom, of course. But a small part of me is a little bit irritated that it took her dating my coach to be interested in what I was doing again. She hardly talked to me after Dad left. She was bitter. Plus, Coach is spotting us for arms today. Spotting as in, let's see how much you can bench while almost dislocating your shoulders! And everyone seems to be in a sour mood. I think I'll hold off on telling my friends about Mom.

"I quit man. I quit!" Lara says as we walk down the hallway after changing.

"It could have been worse. It's not core day yet." Sam says and I shudder just thinking about what he must have in store for us.

Spanish is bearable and so is math class with Brett in there. We have fun talking. Even though we should be working. Ha..Should probably work on that..

English is boring. We have to read these horrible poems. I like some poetry. But most of it isn't for me.

"You've been quiet today.." Bryan says. Observing me as we all line up at the door.

I shrug.

"It's Tuesday." I state.

"Last Tuesday you weren't like this." He adds.

"Well school hadn't started." I argue.

...

"Sorry.." I grumble. He wasn't trying to be rude.

"I don't care." He shrugs.

"I mean.. everyone is entitled to a bad day every once in awhile." He adds with a sigh.

"I guess you're right."

Practice is long. Very long. I practice quarterback and wide receiver. Lara practices full back.

I'm not throwing very well today, and it's really bothering me.

"Look. Whatever is going on, you've gotta get rid of it while you're here. Got it?"

Coach kind of demands.

"Yes sir." I answer.

I wonder what it's like coaching your girlfriend's daughter? Does he know I know? Oh well. Practice is almost done anyways.

Susan is still making me ice my side after practice. She says better safe than sorry. I agree but I want to be done with it. It's just a little sore.

"Woah.." Gracie says.

"You don't have to worry about telling us something like that!" Sam insists.

"Good for her. Coach seems like a good guy." Allie says.

"He does. It's just odd." I confess.

"Of course it is! But don't worry we won't tell anyone." Lara promises.

"Thanks." I tell them. I feel relieved having told them now.
