The girl cowered in front of me, staring up at me with huge green eyes that reminded me of saucers.
I rolled my eyes and crouched down in front of her.
"Listen to me," I said in an even voice. "Nothing will happen to you or your family if you do exactly what I say."
"What do you want from me?" she asked in a trembling voice that squeaked.
"Stop interrupting me and you'll find out!" I snapped. I forgot how aggravating mortals are.
The girl curled into herself even more, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears.
"I want you to get something for me. It's an amulet with an emerald gem inside of it. Your friend Luna has it, and I want you to take it from her."
"Luna?"
"Yes. Do not tell her I sent you, and be careful and precise. Do not tip her off that you're working for me now."
I snapped my fingers, casting spells with my mind and watched as they flew through her, taking over her mind. Her eyes dulled and she stared blankly at me, her face relaxing and going slack as her mind turned to mush.
"Do you understand me?"
She nodded obediently. "Yes, I understand. I will do as you say."
I smiled. Everything was falling into place.
