"Sade Adu" written by Elsienosike1
Sade Adu was born in Ibadan Nigeria to a British mum and a Yoruba dad. I first heard her music when I was 9. Channel O would play her songs several times a day. I vividly recall how I felt every time the music video of "By Your Side" was played, I never tired of it. It remains colourful, dreamy, and nostalgic to me to this day.
Sade's voice is so soothing; her music, jazzy and earthy. She's also very elegant. The years have been kind to her; she's stunning as ever even at 61. "Sweetest Taboo" is my favourite song by Sade. I also love the track, "Smooth Operator".
I admire her beauty, poise, and mysterious persona. She lives a very private life and avoids celebrity drama. I love watching her stage performances, they are effortless, she connects with her audience really well, and she loves to perform barefoot!
Here's what my 2020 playlist looks like:
Sade—Sweetest Taboo
Rihanna—Kiss it Better
Lucky Dube—I've Got You Babe
Kendrick Lamar ft Sza—All the Stars
NF—The Search
Fela—Coffin for Head of State
Rema—Bad Commando
Brandy—Borderline
Sarkodie—Angels and Demons
Adekunle Gold ft Nailah Blackman—AG Baby
