CHAPTER 34

“Kung sino man ang makapagsasabi sa’kin ng buong pangalan ng anghel sa harap ko, pag-usapan natin ang promotion ninyo,” Jared grinned as he announced it to the crowd without breaking his eye contact with Keisha.
 
 
 
 
 
Lahat ay tahimik na pinagmamasdan ang dalawa. Walang nagtangkang magsalita lalo na nang marinig nila ang mga yabag ng isa pang binata.
 
 

 
“She’s Keisha Berrenzana, my other half.”
 
 
 
 
 
The entire attention shifted to the man who was just few meters away from them.
 
 
 
 
“Captain.”
 
 
 
 
People started to murmured. Keisha’s friends were even more dumbfounded.
 
 
 
 
 
"Ano’ng sinasabi ni Kap?"
 
 
 
 
 
Xyth continued walking to Keisha and Jared’s place. Nakatingin siya kay Keisha at ganoon din ang babae na gulat pa rin sa pangyayari. He wanted to keep it private just like their deal but this thing made him lose his temper.
 
 
 
 
 
He saluted to the man in front of him. "Welcome to the Philippines, Major Jared Chavez."
 
 
 
 
 
Mataas ang ranggo nito kaysa sa kaniya ngunit mababa naman sa ranggo ng isang Lieutenant Colonel. Jared Chavez is a junior field officer in Air Force who operates as a main staff officer on brigade-sized forces. He is the eldest son of their General and a brother of Lieutenant Colonel Ayana Maurice Chavez.
 
 
 
 
 
"Oh, Captain. I thought you and my sister are together," Jared smirked.
 
 
 
 
 
"Kuya!"
 
 
 
 
"Speaking of the wanna-be angel," Jared laughed when he saw his sister approaching.
 
 
 
 
 
"What do you think you're doing? Huwag kang gagawa ng gulo rito," Ayana warned.
 
 
 
 
 
"I'm not. I was just asking the name of this pretty girl in front of me but unfortunately, she's taken." Jared gawped at Xyth. "Right, Captain?"
 
 
 
 
 
But Ayana talked instead. "Her name is Keisha Berrenzana, a trainee here and now that you know, can we go?"
 
 
 
 
 
"Trainee?" he asked ignoring his sister.
 
 
 
 
 
"Yes, Sir. I am still a trainee here," Keisha answered wearing all respect.
 
 
"And you're saying, you and Captain are in a relationship? Paano nangyari ‘yon? That’s not allowed."
 
 
 
 
 
Xyth snickered. "There's no such rule, Sir."
 
 
 
 
 
Nakapamulsa lamang ang lalaki at pangiti-ngiti. “No such rule? Would you mind if I make one?”
 
 
 
 
 
Hindi napuputol ang tinginan ng dalawang lalaki na mas lalong nagpapakaba kay Keisha.
 
 
 
 
 
"Yes, Sir. I will assume that you are interested with my girlfriend."
 
 
 
 
 
Samantala, animo’y nanonood ng shooting sa pelikula ang mga sundalong nakapaligid sa kanila. The mood is tensed up the same with Keisha's emotion. Her mind is blocked with thoughts. Ipinangalandakan na nga ni Xyth ngayon ang relasyon nila.
 
 
 
 
"And if I am?—
 
 
 
 
"You better not," Xyth cut him off.
 
 
 
 
Jared laughed. He took a step forward to Xyth. "Are you going to threaten me now?"
 
 
 
 
 
"Kuya." Ayana butt in but she was ignored again.
 
 
 
 
 
"No, Sir."
 
 
 
 
 
"You better watch your words, Captain. I'll be staying here and I'll have my eye on you."
 
 
 
 
 
The Captain smirked. "Sure, Sir. It's better than eyeing on my girlfriend."
 

 
 
"Xyth, enough." Ayana
 
 
 
 
 
Jared left first and he was followed by Ayana. Nagpakawala ng malalim na hininga ang mga nakapanood sa kanila.
 
 
 
 
“Akala ko magpapang-abot na sila.”
 
 
 
 
“Kay Captain pa rin ako.”
 
 
 
 
Hindi pa rin makaimik si Keisha sa gitna ng mga bulung-bulungan. May iilan pa ring nakatingin sa kanya at dahil sa hiya, pinili na lamang ni Keisha na umalis. Umalis siya nang hindi man lang tinitingnan si Xyth.
 
 
 
 
Xyth went after her. Tahimik niyang sinundan ang babae hanggang sa makarating sila pareho sa labas. Nilingon siya ni Keisha.
 
 
 
 
"Bakit sinusundan mo ako? Paano kung—
 
 
 
 
“Kung may makakita sa'tin? I just announced in front of them that you are my girlfriend. There's no thing to hide, Keisha,” pagpuputol ni Xyth sa sinasabi nito.
 
 
 
 
 
“I know! Kitang-kita ng dalawang mata ko at dinig na dinig nang mga tainga ko! Ang sa akin lang dapat sinabihan mo man lang ako.”
 
 
 
 
 
“At kung sinabi ko papayag ka ba?” Hindi naman makasagot si Keisha sa kanya. “See? That situation provoked me to tell them. Walang masama sa ginawa ko, Keisha.”
 
 
 
 
 
“Hindi mo nalang dapat siya pinatulan,” mahinahon ng sabi ni Keisha.
