Chapter 14: Forever Fall Part 2

(3rd POV)

Jaune Arc gets pushed to the ground of Forever Fall right after refusing Cardin's orders, groaning as he looks up and sees a sap-covered Cardin looming over him. The bigger warrior picks Jaune up by his front and grins while punching him back to the ground. "You know that wasn't very smart, Jauney boy." Cardin said.

He picks up a bruised Jaune again while the rest of Team CRDL watches. "I'm gonna make sure they send you back to mommy in teeny tiny pieces." Cardin said "I don't care what you do to me..." Jaune said with his head hanging back. Jaune looks at Cardin with fury with his head up. "... but you are not messing with my team or my friends." Jaune said.

Cardin looks momentarily shocked by Jaune and then raises him up off the ground. "What? You think talk like that makes you tough? You think you're a big strong man now?" Cardin asked. Jaune smiles in defiance.

An enraged Cardin roars and raises his fist again, but just as the hit connects, a bright light shines from Jaune, and when the white fades from the screen, Cardin is crying out in pain as he holds his hand. Jaune, now back on the ground but completely healed, looks confusedly at his hands as they faintly glow white.

While he stares, Sky Lark kicks Jaune in the back and gets him on his stomach, but he looks up and glares at the approaching Cardin. "Let's see how much of a man you really are..." Cardin said until a low growl is heard, and a surprised Team CRDL turns around and sees a large paw crash onto the scene. The claw belonging to a huge Ursa Major with dozens of jagged spikes sticking out from its wide back.

It leaps forward and stands over the terrified students, lifting its head in the air to smell the sap on Cardin's breastplate. It lands back on its forelegs and roars at Cardin while his teammates heroically flee leaving their leader behind. "That's a big Ursa!" Russel said. Cardin is rooted to the spot when the Grimm swings its claws and knocks him sideways, revealing Jaune cowering behind him. The Ursa continues to sniff, uninterested in Jaune and follow its nose to Cardin, interested with the sap on his armor.

He watches as it towers over Cardin, who gets his wits and pulls out The Executioner only for the monster to swipe it away to Jaune's feet. He looks conflicted, wondering whether to fight and protect or run away to leave him behind.

Meanwhile, the roar of the giant Ursa is heard by the members of Teams RWBY and JNPR, still collecting sap on the other side of the forest. "Did you guys hear that?" Ruby asked concerningly as she stood up. "Yeah, there must be a Grimm nearby." Amelia said, walking up to her cousin with a jar of sap. "Well it didn't sound too close so I don't think there is much reason to worry." Bruce says.

Suddenly, the remaining members of Team CRDL are seen running the other way from the roar through the other students. "It looks like there is reason to worry." Luke said. "Ursa! Ursa!" Russel yelled looking back from where they came from. Russel then runs into Yang accidentally, she is unfazed by that, but picks him up as she starts asking questions.

"What?! Where?" Yang asks the terrified schoolmate. "Back there! It's got Cardin!" Russel said, still running in the air as he pointed back where they last saw the two. "Such a tragedy... OK well I think we got enough jars, let's head out!" Felix said holding four jars about to leave until Bruce grabbed the back of his hoodie, preventing him from leaving. "Jaune!" Pyrrha said worryingly, making her drop the jar of sap.

Felix dropped all the jars and groaned as he turned to the others. "We have to help now don't we?" Felix asked. "We can't leave any of our colleagues behind without attempted aid, or we are no better than our enemies." Luke said as he took Scars out, both in gun form, as Bruce took out Harmony from it's sheathe.
