"I have a great fucking idea," I said, staring into the darkness of the bedroom.

We'd been staying at the beach house for a bit longer than intended. New year's passed, and neither of us felt compelled to go back to the busy streets of LA again. Sadly this would be our last night here, as Nolan had to get back to work. It also made me realize that in a way, I was currently unemployed. I had heaps of free time to fill, which I didn't like. Being busy kept my mind occupied. I needed to find a way to get back to work.

"Hm?" Nolan said, half asleep. I would've let him sleep, but I had to get this out before I forgot or something.

"I can join a band, tell them someone else from the band wrote the song or we wrote it together, and then my label won't own any of my shit anymore! I can write about virtually anything and— oh my god. I love it. I'll have to call some people." I reached across from his to grab my phone off the nightstand.

"Oakley," he mumbled, lightly holding onto my arm. "Tomorrow is also a day."

"We're not guaranteed a tomorrow, Nolan. What if we suddenly die in our sleep? We don't need sleep." I pressed my lips against his. I started kissing him slowly, my smile making it slightly harder for me to do so. It took a while before he reacted, finally kissing back.

"Holy shit, I have to make some calls," I said, already looking for people who'd be interested. Nolan rubbed his eyes.

"What if they're asleep? It's the middle of the night." I checked my phone. it was nearly 2 AM.

"Tomorrow, okay? First thing in the morning."

"But what if we die?"

"Then you can't start a band anyway." He shuffled closer to me, and then wrapped an arm around me, and then also a leg. "Just stay here with me, okay?" Our noses were nearly touching, but not quite. His breath was fanning my face lightly, and suddenly I didn't want to move anymore.

"We've only been together for two months," I said in realization. It hit even harder when I said it. I couldn't decide whether it felt like it's been longer or shorter.

"You're right," he said quietly. "Maybe we'll last."

"Maybe? You don't sound very confident," I said, chuckling quietly to not wake him too much.

He drowsily places another kiss on my lips. And somehow, in his arms, I fell asleep for a few more hours. I didn't want to leave.

"Nolan, you awake yet?" I asked for about the fourth time that morning.

He mumbled something under his breath about being tired, making me chuckle.
