The heatwave sweeping over Sydney added more worries and things to do. Sighing, you walked through to the living room and was greeted by the sight of your three-year-old daughter, Olivia, and your five-year-old son, James, playing with some ceramic mugs.

"James, no! Put that cup back on the floor!" You yelled, suddenly breaking into a run to catch the cups before your children broke them,

"But-but... mummy?" Olivia whimpered while her eyes began to water,

"Aw Liv, come here" Olivia crawled into your arms and you stroked her hair, comforting her, "I only yelled so you wouldn't break the cups and hurt yourselves"

James came over to the both of you and snuggled under your arm, "Mummy when is daddy coming back? He's been away for a long time"

"Don't worry James, he's coming home soon. He's all the way in Western Australia competing in the lifeguard challenge for Bondi! He'll be home for Christmas, he promised remember?"

Suddenly, your phone started ringing from the countertop near by, putting down Olivia, you answered the call,

You Glick

Hey baby!

Glick! We've missed you! How are you?

I'm fine, the team and I are just getting ready to go for training down at the beach before the race starts

Good luck! Do you think you'll be home for Christmas?

I hope so, some of the boys wanted to stay a few days though and Hoppo was thinking about pushing our flights back a few days but I'll let you know

Okay, just let us know

I have to go babe, I'll speak to you soon! Bye!

You sighed, putting your phone back on charge.

---3 day time skip---

It was now Christmas eve, and you had just put Olivia and James to bed. Yet again, you slipped into bed, alone.

Christmas came with a bright, hot morning while you were woken by your kids jumping on the bed screaming, 'It's Christmas!' 'It's Christmas!'

Before letting Olivia and James open their presents, you checked your phone to see a text from Glick,

You began fixing their breakfast, the weight of making this Christmas good now fully upon you. Sitting down on the floor with James and Olivia, you were trying to keep up a happy facade, when suddenly the door bell rang,

"Wait a second kids, don't open any presents. Wait for mummy!"

Opening the door, you were shocked to see Glick standing there,

"Hi"

"Babe!" You threw your arms around his neck and kissed him passionately, "You're so mean! I thought Christmas was ruined"

Glick put his hands up in fake surrender, "I think I took it a bit too far, but at least I'm home for Christmas!"
