I'm Dead, and hes a Jerk- Oakley Lake.

“I thought we were going to the field where he killed me?” I asked confused once again. Jared shook his head.

“No, we can’t. It’s too far out so it would take too long for them to get here.” he replied.

“For who to get here?”

“That’s for me to know and for you to find out.” he smirked at me. This was starting to get annoying now.

I looked into the woods, and my stomach knotted. Over the other side, is where I took my last breath. It did look creepy; the icy night really did set the scene for a horror film. I turned to look at Jared, who was stood over Seth’s unconscious body stroking his chin like he was thinking.

“Debating on something?” I mused.

“Yeah. I’m trying to think on how to wake him up that would be quick and effective, we are working on a tight schedule here” he replied, looking at his watch. He muttered “just gone 10pm now.”

I gritted my teeth, pissed off at him talking about ‘the plan’ which I did not know about. I felt like a kid being left out at school.

“Come up with an idea yet?” I queried. He turned to look at me, his face playfully serious.

“After much consideration, I think I have found the most appropriate way.” He replied. His attention turned back to Seth, and he raised his knee up and with force, slammed his foot into Seth’s stomach. He woke up immediately, coughing and clutching his stomach in pain. Jared turned to face me.

“Oh sorry, did I wake you?” He asked Seth with fake concern. I smirked, feeling a strange mixture of pride and another feeling that I didn’t quite recognise for Jared right at this moment.

Seth rolled to his side, curling into a ball, still clutching his stomach. After about 5 minutes of his whining, Jared sighed impatiently and picked Seth up by his shirt, dragging him up to his feet.

“Are we done whining like a girl?” Jared spat at him. Seth was now on his feet, his body still leaning forward slightly from Jared’s kick to the ribs.

“What the hell is your damage man?” Seth said breathlessly. Even in the dark, I saw Jared’s eyes turn vicious at his question.

“My damage?” he asked in disbelief “My damage is the fact that you killed you girlfriend for fuck knows what reason!”

Seth didn’t reply, and began standing straighter.

“What was the reason Seth? Did you have mummy issues?” Jared mocked viciously.

“Funnily enough Mercedes, you were my problem.” Seth replied. Both me and Jared were taken back by his response. Seth carried on when he didn’t reply. “You didn’t think I knew did you?”

“Knew about what?!”

“About you fucking my girlfriend” he retorted. I froze. How did he know?

“She wasn’t your girlfriend though was she?!” Jared countered.

“It’s not the point Jared. The bitch lied to me! Led me on!” Seth basically yelled. Jared’s fist balled as he called me a bitch.

“Don’t you EVER call her a bitch” Jared hissed. I smiled. Then he had to ruin it “The only person who gets to call her that is me.”

Seth scoffed bitterly. “Fucking her again are we Mercedes?”

Jared smirked. “Isn’t it funny, even in death she’d rather have me on top of her than you.”

Seth clenched his jaw as he said this. Jared spoke again “How do you know?”

“Monday, after your little argument in the cafeteria, I followed you wondering where the hell my girlfriend was heading with the boy she supposedly ‘loathed’” he air quoted “and I heard you arguing in that classroom. I heard everything.”

My mind flashed back to Monday. Jared went to walk out of the empty classroom and I remember him stopping to look out of the door, and then saying he thought someone was there. I didn’t think anything of it at the time.

But someone was there, Seth.

“So you’re a nosy prick, how the hell does that mean Leah led you on?” Jared quizzed, hatred lining his voice.

“Well she did! She had me believing for 10 months that she was a virgin, every time she shot me down I understood because I thought she wasn’t ready, that she was scared. I was a fucking great, understanding and patient boyfriend. Then I find out she opened her legs to you before we even started going out!”

As Seth was talking, I saw a sudden flash in my eyes, causing me to gasp. What the hell was that?

“So you killed her, because she wouldn’t put out?!” Jared screamed at him in fury. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing either.

“I didn’t mean to kill her! Things got out of hand!” Seth yelled back. Again, there was another flash in my eyes. It was like as Seth was explaining what happened; each piece of Monday night came together.

“You didn’t mean to? Did you trip and fall with a rock in your hand and accidently smashed it over her head?!” Jared stepped closer, anger rippling from his voice.

“It was an accident!” Seth yelled.

The flashed in my eyes became faster, and suddenly they were forming picture. Before I knew it, I felt myself being pulled, and the air left my lungs like I was once again being sucked through a long tube. When I finally landed on my feet again, I was back in a field. Only this time it was the field on the other side of the woods. The field which I died in.

I looked around, wondering what the hell was going on. I suddenly froze as I saw a boy and a girl sat by the lake. The boy had his arm around the black haired girl and her head was on his shoulder. I walked closer, and as I saw the faces of the boy and the girl, everything made sense.

Sat by the Lake were me and Seth.

The last thing I remember about being alive was answering my phone in my room; I understood that what I was seeing in front of me was a flashback. My memories were coming back.

I was finally going to see what happened the night I died.
