Chapter 8

"I'm so sorry about the mess. I've been studying for the exams and it didn't occur to me how messy my room was." Irene said and she rushed to clean her room. Seulgi picked up one of the energy drink cans. "Irene how much energy drinks have you been having?" She said as Irene gathered all the things that littered her desk and threw it away.

"I....not much. I drink a can a day and I have cofee at night because its not healthy to drink too much energy drink." Irene said. "But that's bad for you. Both coffee and energy drinks" Seulgi said, throwing the can away. "I'm fine, don't worry. I'm just studying really hard for the exams." Irene said as she yawned. "I actually should go make coffee now. Do you want some?" Irene said, closing her diary and school books as she put them in a neat stack on her bookshelf.

"Irene, are you by any chance forcing yourself to stay awake?" Seulgi asked, putting her arm around Irene's shoulders.

"N...no....I'm not." Irene said nervously. "Then why are you drinking so much energy drinks and coffee?" Seulgi asked. Irene stayed silent. She yawned once more. "Please can I go make coffee." Irene said. "Does Auntie Taeyeon know?" Seulgi asked as she sat on Irene's bed. "Does she know what?" Irene asked, yawning again and stumbling and she walked towards Seulgi. "First come sit on my lap Joohyun." Seulgi said, holding her arms open, ready to hug the older girl.

Irene sat on Seulgi's lap, her arms around Seulgi's neck. "Mmmm, Seulgi. You're too warm. I might just fall asleep like this." Irene said. 'I would love if you did that, babe.' Seulgi thought 'Bae, not babe. Stop thinking like that Seulgi.'

"So now, does mom know what?" Irene asked, snapping Seulgi out of her thoughts. "Huh-oh...umm...does Auntie Taeyeon know that you are forcing yourself not to sleep?" Seulgi said. "How did you know?" Irene asked softly. "You were nervous when you answered me. And for the past week, you looked super tired and tried to keep me away from your room so I wouldn't see the mess. You are drinking so much coffee yet you don't even like coffee. And you litteraly passed out when I came." Seulgi said.

"Oh...I thought you wouldn't notice. You really pay attention to things, huh?" Irene said. "Not really....I noticed it because it is you." Seulgi said. 'Damn it Seulgi, why did you say that.' Seulgi thought. "So why don't you want to sleep?" She added.

"I...it's nothing Seulgi. Don't worry about it." Irene mumbled. "It's bothering you Joohyun. I can tell." Seulgi said. "I've just been having some.....dreams that I'd rather not have. Don't worry." Irene said. "Okay Irene. But if it's bothering you, you should talk to someone about it." Seulgi said. "I'm fine Seulgi. Please don't tell mom about this." Irene said.

"I won't Joohyun. I promise. But you must promise to sleep more." Seulgi said. "I promise." Irene said. "Can I sleep more now?" Irene asked. "Good." Seulgi said.

A clap of thunder sounded and Irene let out a squeak of surprise. "Joohyun, are you okay." Seulgi asked. Irene nodded. 'That's so cute. Joohyun-ah you are going to be the death of me.' Seulgi thought. "Your hood fell down so it sounds louder." Seulgi said as she carefully put the hood on Irene's onesie up, making sure her ears were covered. "Better?" She asked. "Much better." Irene said as another clap of thunder sounded.

"Joohyun....." Seulgi said after a few minutes them just sitting like that, slowly rocking back and forth. "Hmmm?" Irene hummed in response. "I like your name. Joohyun....it's a pretty name for a pretty girl." Seulgi said. Irene blushed. "I like it when you call me Joohyun. It sounds nice." Irene said. "So would you like it if I called you babe instead." Seulgi said.

"Yah Seulgi. You making me embarrassed." Irene whined and playfully hit Seulgi. "Aigoo I was only joking." Seulgi said. "Joking huh?" Irene smirked as she pushed Seulgi back onto the bed. "What are you doing Joohyun." Seulgi asked. "Getting revenge." Irene said as she started tickling Seulgi.
