Chapter 8

Seulgi scrolled through her phone as rain poured outside. She wondered why the weather was so strange because it was really hot and sunny for the past few weeks. She was snapped out of her thoughts when her phone vibrated. She opened the message.

Irene❤:
Seulgi-ah. I'm scared.

Seulgi heard the thunder and knew that Irene hated thunder.

It's okay. I'll come there
soon. By the way, why are
you scared of loud noises?

I.....It's nothing

Seulgi waited for a reply but got none. She pulled on a rain coat over her hoodie and grabbed her umbrella before rushing to Irene's house.

Seulgi unlocked the door to Irene's house. Taeyeon had given her a spare key in case of emergency, since Tiffany and her were out for the weekend. Seulgi went inside and locked the door. "Joohyun. Where are you? I came to check on you." Seulgi said loudly. Irene came down the stairs, in a bunny onesie, holding the stuffed animal Wendy had gotten her for her birthday.

"Joohyun, you're okay. I got worried when you didn't reply." Seulgi said. "Hi Seulgi." Irene said, walking past her. Seulgi noticed the slight quiver in her voice. Seulgi followed Irene into the kitchen and saw her drinking some milk. "Is everything okay?" Seulgi asked. Irene stared at her, then walked away.

Seulgi sighed. She walked out of the kitchen but couldn't see Irene. She looked in the living room but Irene wasn't there either. "Irene. I'm sorry for pushing the subject, I shouldn't have done that. I'm so sorry." Seulgi called out and suddenly Irene came down the stairs, and stood at the foot of the staircase. 'How did she go up so fast?' Seulgi thought. "I'm sorry Irene, I really didn't mean to make you sad." Seulgi said.

Irene stared at Seulgi, as if she was piercing into her soul. "You're really sorry?" Irene asked in a small voice. Seulgi nodded. Irene flung herself onto Seulgi, her arms tightly wrapped around her middle. "You're warm. Almost as warm as mom." Irene voiced the thought softly. Seulgi sighed. It comforted her to know that she made Irene almost as comfortable as Taeyeon.

Seulgi put Irene's onesie hood up, the bunny ears going up for a second before going down. She knew that the hood might muffle the sound of the thunder. "Let's go to your room, Irene." Seulgi said. Irenes grip on her loosened and the stuffed animal that Wendy had given her fell to the floor with a soft thump. "Irene?" Seulgi said and looked at Irene, who was now passed out, her head on Seulgi's chest and her mouth slightly ajar.

"Aish really?" Seulgi mumbled as she carefully picked up the bunny, who was surprisingly light. She picked up Irene's stuffed animal and took her to the living room. 'All you have to do is put her down' Seulgi thought. But she couldn't put Irene down and leave the room. She was carrying Irene bridal style and her heart was beating fast. She decided to sit down, gently laying Irene's head on her lap.

She took out her phone and glanced at the bunny. Her features looked prettier. She had no makeup on and wasn't wearing her glasses, which Seulgi learned, she did not need, and only wore to make her feel more comfortable. Seulgi opened her camera and took a photo of the sleeping bunny.

An hour passed and Irene started to stir. She saw Seulgi sleeping, her head leaning back and her mouth slightly open. "Seulgi yah, wake up. Your neck will hurt." Irene said. Seulgi groaned She opened her eyes and they met Irene's, who had found herself staring at Seulgi's features. "Seulgi-ah." Irene said softly. "Yes." Seulgi replied. "Your eyes are...." Irene paused, apparently at a loss for words, then continued "...stunning."
