CHAPTER TWENTY: OF EXAM BLUES, CALM RIDES, AND THE PRESIDENT WHO DROVE HER HOME
Grand finale of exam week. The whole campus basically looked like a war zone.
As soon as the final bell rang, students stumbled out of classrooms like survivors of a disaster. My squad? They looked like walking corpses.
"I'm officially brain dead," Mico muttered, dragging his feet like a zombie.
"Somebody bury me now," Errol groaned dramatically, clutching his head like it was about to fall off.
"Never again," Jodie whimpered, clutching her test paper like it was her death certificate.
Xylia looked like she aged ten years, staring blankly at the floor.
"I don't know if I'm gonna be alive after this..." she mumbled, dazed.
Meanwhile? I walked out of the classroom calm, collected—like I just came back from a grocery run. No sweat. No panic. Not even a hair out of place.
Then they froze.
"Hey.. hey.. hey..." Xylia whispered, grabbing Jodie's arm, eyes wide like she just spotted a plot twist.
"Look who's waiting in the hallway," she added, nudging Jodie dramatically.
And yep—there he was.
KD.
Casually leaning against the wall, arms crossed, looking effortlessly cool and composed—Mr. Perfect President, as usual—but his eyes?
Locked on me. Focused. Steady.
Mico let out a low whistle. "Bro, you're literally the main character. You're something else."
"Girl, this is literally season finale material!" Jodie gasped, clutching Xylia's arm tighter, half-screaming, half-laughing.
"Next season of The President and the Transfer Student AU confirmed!" Errol snickered, nudging Mico's side.
Xylia giggled, unable to hold it in. "No wonder he's been quiet lately—turns out Khaizer has his own plot arc."
They all burst into quiet laughter, clearly enjoying themselves. I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't stop the amused smirk creeping on my lips. I raised my iced latte toward them, playful.
"You guys want me to vlog this?" I teased loudly—just enough for them and KD to hear.
Instead of backing off, they only laughed harder, grinning like lunatics.
"Go, Content Queen!" Jodie giggled.
"Vlog the President, please!" Mico added, pretending to wipe away a tear from laughing.
"I'm joining the vlog! Behind-the-scenes of a campus rom-com!"Errol joked, dramatically posing behind a locker.
They still tried to "hide" behind the lockers, but honestly? They were failing miserably.
And KD? Still casually waiting for me, looking like he had all the patience in the world. I walked toward him, steady on the outside, but my heart? Annoyingly thumping fast. He didn't even blink.
When I stopped in front of him, he spoke—his voice calm but somehow softer than usual. The kind of soft that only slips out when it's me.
"Done?" he asked, his tone low, controlled—typical student council president—but there was a quiet ease under it, almost subtle.
