I'm afraid the days are stringing together, my love

I'm afraid of this hole in my chest

I'm afraid of every inch of myself

And when the sun's yolk blooms fire and spills into dawn

And we all carry on,

I'll still remember that look on your face

You dreamt of a garden of folklore

You watched as the waves nearly met the shore

The fish of these waters, they shone wounds that will never heal

Always grasping for more than they deserve

You must walk away before I leave you first

But we are products of a world that will never feel

And you held me how you did last night

And we sunk inside

For a little while as they wrote

All the promises they would break:

Every solution to every question,

Every fake smile void of redemption

And our eyes, they are as vacant as the world appears

But we patch ourselves together, reading between the lines

We steer into the sky as we're flying blind

We thought we lost all we could,

But there's always something to left to lose

We are the children of old-world tinkerers

And we are out of time

We carry on as the days go by

We swallow the guilt like we swallow the food we refuse

And out flows the regrets like water of a dam that broke loose

But these waters we could never purify

And now I know that we never bleed to die

Zippers always did echo off these flimsy walls

I watch the web of cracks in that old savings far

I flip off the light switch and the dark pours

This world was never ours, but at least I'm yours;

I'm sorry the world doesn't care to protect us,

But I will always protect you

We are born to run,

And so I run towards flame

We ended the way we started—

With fire

And your mind could warp every memory,

But you will know our names
