Percy POV

Today was a big day. I was turning 18. For those of you who don't understand my joy toward this specific birthday, let me explain.

Once you turn 18, you get your specific rank and you turn into your wolf form by the end of the day. This only occurs if you have the right genes and it always passed down. That's why my mom and I are going into the woods today. So I don't accidentally hurt someone when I turn. I heard the first time really sucks but afterwards, it is amazing when you change.

However, most people don't go through this. They are normal humans. Like I said, unless you are given the genes from your parents, you won't turn into a wolf. You still get a rank but most humans can't ever tell so they claim they never have a rank. You can't tell the difference between us unless we transform in front of you. Which doesn't happen unless they have complete trust in this person. We keep our secret to ourselves and the world can't tell the difference, even though they try.

In normal tradition the same sex parent would help you through the first transition. So, why is my mom helping me? Well, my father died when I was younger. He was killed.

Well, getting on a happier note I was really excited for today. I would find out my rank. I was curious about what I would get. You are 1 of 5 types.

The highest level was Alpha, followed by Delta, then Beta, Gamma, and finally Omega. Each level has different characteristics that develop more throughout your 18th year. By the end of this year, all of your characteristics and your personality is pretty set.

Alpha's are the highest rank. They are typically very protective of what is theirs and are very aggressive when they have to be. Their scent is normally very rare and very strong. They also, almost always will pick and Omega as a mate.

Delta's are a level down. Think of them as a second in command to an Alpha. There is also only one in a 'pack' which makes them kind of rare. They are also protective and Aggressive when need be. Their scent is almost a balanced mixture of nature smells with their own unique scent.

Beta's are in the middle. They are also very similar to humans. They are a more calm type of level. Their scents are also very weak and can calm others around them.

Gamma's aren't that similar to humans but share more qualities with Omegas. They are immune to all scents but a Delta's. However, they are submissive to everyone but Omega's. They also have very maternal instincts whether being a male or female.

Finally, you have the Omega's. They are very different types than any other. Mostly because they go into heat. No matter the gender. Females are the same but a male Omega changes just a little. They grow the new parts in order to give birth. (I really hope I'm anything but this. That sounds painful.)

Currently me and my mom are on our way to a secluded section of woods that will be safe for me when I change. I keep bouncing my leg and tapping my knee. Signs of me being nervous. "So, how are you feeling today Perce?" My mom asks.

My mom is an Omega. My dad is... was an Alpha. From the very little I remember about him, he was really fun. One memory in particular sticks out. It was our family and we were walking on a beach. I was still very young but I always could recall the memory because there was a specific moment that always stuck out. He changed his form in public. Like I said, we don't do that unless it is a last resort. I never could figure out why he changed. I asked my mom but she would always say 'I'll tell you when you're older.'

"I'm really nervous. What was it like for you?" I asked her back. She thought for a moment then smiled as if remembering a happier time. "Well, very little changed physically and I pretty much had the same personality as before. The only major change that happens is the transition. Like I said the first one hurts, but after that it becomes like second nature." She finished. I smiled to myself and waited for a while until I asked the next one. "Did dad ever tell you what his was like?"

She again stayed quiet before answering. "He always told me that his father took him to a nearby lake for his transition. I think that was why his scent always smelt very strongly of any type of water. He said his transition wasn't as bad because he was calm before because of the lake. We met when we started our senior year and we quickly became mates. However, we were fortunate to get through college before we had you. I couldn't imagine trying to balance that life."

She looked over at me and smiled a real smile. Not the one that she always has to force on when she talked about dad. Our type of wolves only mated once. Especially, if it is between an Omega and Alpha. They have a sort of ceremony commonly called the marking. It occurs only between these two types and it is sort of like a marriage promise.

We rode for another half hour into the woods and then when we were far enough out we started setting up camp. It was about 10 in the morning when we finished setting up the camp stuff which was relatively easy. Since I was supposed to stay in wolf form all night to help me with the transition and my mom said she didn't mind changing into her form.

We eventually went on a small walk and I could tell things started to change the further the day went on. I was supposed to change closer to sunset or when the sun was already down but the senses came earlier.

First, it was hearing, I could hear things further away and this was followed by sight. I managed to notice a very small bird about 2 miles away like it was right in front of me. Next was touch, every blade of grass I stepped on I could feel it bend under my foot. Taste was next and it just made me more sensitive to strong tastes. The last one was smell. This was the most important because it decided so much about you and your future. By the time all of the senses kicked in it was almost sunset. I was watching the sun fall from the sky when a sudden feeling in my gut made me bend over in pain.

My mom rushed to me and tried to whisper comforting words in my ears but most of them were blocked out. I was curled up in the grass feeling like every bone in my body was on fire, and then broke, then repaired itself. One shot of pain ran up my spine and stopped when it got to the base of my neck. I closed my eyes and when I opened them I saw furry paws.

My mom was standing next to me,still in human form, and I heard her whisper something. The thing was her lips didn't move. 'I'm so proud of you. Now go, run around a little' I turned my head to the side and she nodded at me. Guess I'll ask her later why I could hear her.

I was running when I came across a small river. I walked over to it and saw my own reflection. I had solid black fur with only a little white on the tip of my tail and the tips of my ears. My eyes became an even brighter shade of green than they were before.

I took off running again. I could feel everything I ran over from blades of grass to small twigs. I noticed everything around me due to my hearing and better eyesight. Even the air tasted cleaner. However, smell was the biggest change. I could smell everything within miles of where I was.

For the first time, I felt free.

------------------------------------------------------

HELLO READERS. I'm back and with another story.

As you probably know school is about to start so updates may be slower but I am also thinking of doing a Oneshots for Percy Jackson.

If you don't know what that is, it is basically a bunch of short stories, head cannons, or fluff/smut/angst.

But to do that I will need a few suggestions so you can either put them here or send me a message. If I develop the idea you will of course get the credit for the idea.

Anyway Peace Out Readers. Hope you enjoyed the first chapter.
