                               One year later
Renée

"Oh fück. Eva! What did I tell you about leaving your toys out?" I yell, grabbing onto the kitchen counter and scowling down at the legos scattered on the floor and then to my throbbing toe.

She always leaves her toys laying around.

I sigh as I run my hands through my hair that's currently a curly mess, rubbing my scalp as I try to soothe my headache.

The day started off with me sleeping in and missing my first class which just so happened to be freaking psychology and then in the middle of my economics lecture my phone rang.

I had to rush home because I thought Eva was sick but as it turns out she just didn't like the nanny; she doesn't like any of them and Elijah and I have tried everything.

From begging to bribery.

I look out into the living room to see her sitting on the sofa as Sofia The First plays on the television. A smile forms on my face and I shake my head, joining her on the sofa and laying my head on her lap.

She gives me an adorable smile and I resist the urge to giggle as I stare at the two spaces where her teeth should be.

"Hi mommy," her soft voice says as she runs her tiny hands through my hair. "What do you want to eat today?" I question through a yawn, the amount of energy drinks I've had today doing absolutely nothing for me.

Her blue eyes widen and this time I really do laugh, we both know I'm shit at cooking. My phone ringing distracts us and I get up to go answer it.

"What happened? Is everything okay?" Mia asks in a frantic tone and I roll my eyes. "Eva's fine. Don't worry she's not sick, she faked it," I inform her.

"So is that a no for the new nanny?"
"Yup. The only person she likes is Angie and the poor woman can't be here all day," I say to my best friend as I watch my daughter giggle at the television.

"I don't know what to do anymore, she still has nightmares," I say, whispering the last part. Elijah and I thought it was best to get her a therapist but so far we've seen zero changes or improvements. She's still overly clingy and she still has night terrors.

"I'm coming over, we have that assignment to finish and I wanna see my gummy bear," Mia says and I roll my eyes again, it didn't take long for Eva to warm to Mia and my best friend quickly adapted the roll of the doting aunt.

We didn't get our dream of living on campus together but we both understood why I couldn't. Eva became a big part of my life and I honestly wouldn't trade that for anything.

She has everyone in the palm of her hands and they spoil her endlessly, Antonio literally buys her whatever she wants and Ty is forever buying her expensive jewelry that she doesn't need.

Elijah is no different, he bought her a phone claiming that she needed one to call him at work even though she's literally only five and has no business having a phone.

"Can you bring food, I've had six energy drinks and honestly the seventh is calling my name," I complain and she laughs at me but agrees to bring the food.

I have an amazing best friend.

"Aunty Mia is coming over," I say to Eva and she gives me her usual toothy grin before focusing on the television once again.

                                     ****
"Hey," I answer, holding my phone between my ear and shoulder as I give Eva her night bath. "How's my two babies?" My husband asks and a smile immediately forms on my face.

"We're good, I'm giving Eva a bath," I reply and a happy gasp leaves her mouth.
"Is that daddy?" She asks and I nod my head putting the phone on speaker so she can hear.

"Hey daddy! I'm making splashes!" She shouts, jumping in the bath and soaking me in the process.
"You are?"

"Uh huh! And mommy too," she informs him and the familiar sound of his laughter fills the room.
"Nanny number twenty one was a no go," I say to Elijah as I scrub coconut scented shampoo into Eva's hair.

"Non di nuovo. What did she do this time?" He asks and Eva slumps in the tub with a pout on her face, angry that I told on her.
(Translation: Not again)

"She pretended to throw up, and then she preceded to eat said throw up," I answer, watching as her pink pout grows.

"But she called me Ava! My names not Ava mommy its Eva," the subject in question says and I roll my eyes.
"The poor woman," Elijah says sarcastically and I shake my head.

We're raising a genius or a criminal......maybe both.

"Come home soon okay?"
"In the next hour love, should I bring anything?"
"Nah, Mia came by and she brought take out," I mumble, washing the shampoo out of our daughters hair, my eyes widening when It comes out brown.

What'd she do? roll her head in dirt.

"Okay see you in a hour baby, I love you both,"
"We love you too," I say before ending the call with a smile on my face, I'll never get tired of hearing him say that.

"Mommy?" Eva calls, making patterns in the now soapy water. "Yeah?"

"Liam said you're not my mom because we're different colours,"
"Liam's a shit head," I say distractedly and she gasps......way to dramatically.

"Can I tell him that?"
"Definitely," I say with a nod, grabbing her towel and wrapping her up as we leave the bathroom.

"Stacy said that I have to talk to my other mommy
t-to feel better," Eva says as I'm brushing her hair and my movements stop. "You don't have to if you don't want to baby," I say as gently as I can, kneeling down in front of her so we're almost the same height.

"Nobody's forcing you to do anything you don't want to,"

"Exactly," a voice says from the door, making our eyes widen and identical smiles form on our faces.
"Race yuh!" Eva shouts and we sprint to the door on a race to get the first hug from Elijah.

A/N: I have no words.....what'd you think?
