"Get the others. We need to make sure the island is out of danger." Hiccup watched Fishlegs fly off with the baby Eruptadon "We'll be okay, bud. This nightmare looks like it's finally over." Hiccup assured Toothless

"Are you sure about that, Hiccup?"

Viggo was sat behind Astrid on Stormfly. One arm around Astrid's arms and waist, the other holding Astrid's ax to her throat.

"Viggo. Let me guess. You want the Dragon Eye in exchange for Astrid." Hiccup responded

"Though it sounds so much colder when you say it like that. But, yes." Viggo held Astrid's ax a little closer to her throat before backing away to his original position "While I do appreciate your assistance in putting brother in his rightful place, I must insist that you return it to where it belongs. With me."

"Hiccup, don't even think about it." Astrid spoke up

"Come, now. Are you really going to sacrifice your future, all the wonderful years you have ahead of you for that?" Viggo glanced at the Dragon Eye Hiccup held in his left hand

Hiccup looked up at Astrid as she shook her head. Forest green met ocean blue as their eyes locked.

"Astrid..." Hiccup started

"Um, I need to check on Stormfly." Astrid turned to avoid the situation

"No, no, you don't."

"I don't?"

"No. You need to stand right here and take this in." Hiccup held up the betrothal necklace "This was my father's betrothal gift to my mother." Astrid gasped as Hiccup slid the necklace on her "--um, and he gave it to me, to give to you. Astrid, you're a part of our family. You always have been and I hope you always will be." Astrid sighed "Okay. If you don't like it --" Hiccup panicked

"Hiccup, I... It's beautiful. It's perfect. It's just... I didn't get you a gift. I don't know what to get, or..." Astrid started explaining herself

"But you did. Astrid, you got me the greatest gift in the world. You, You, just being here with me. It's the only gift I need." Hiccup pulled Astrid into a hug

"Don't say anything. I was being silly." Astrid told Hiccup

"No, you weren't. I should have noticed that necklace right away, but it's not about that. I've been taking you for granted. I have, and I realized that today." Hiccup started "I couldn't have done any of this without you, Astrid, not the Dragon Riders or the Edge. You've always been there for me, and I want to always be there for you. I love you, Astrid Hofferson, with everything I have. And I always will." Hiccup finished

Astrid turned her head to hide her blush "I know you do. We don't have to be like them. I mean, we have a different kind of-- Oh!"

Hiccup caught Astrid off guard with a kiss

"See? I told you it was in here." Astrid opened up Hiccup's gliding fin

"Ha, ha. Still doing that one? That’s hilarious. Come here, you." Hiccup grabbed Astrid by the waist and pulled her into a kiss

Hiccup kept pacing "Don't say it." He saw Astrid out of the corner of his eye

Astrid held her hands up "I wasn't going to."

"I shouldn't have dragged you out there. He wouldn't have flown me back. She wouldn't have followed." Hiccup listed

Astrid nodded slightly "Yep."

"Aah!" Hiccup yelled in frustration "I feel like the same screw up I was before I met Toothless."

"I can see that." Astrid agreed

Hiccup stopped walking and looked at Astrid "Are you just gonna stand there and agree with everything?"

"Well, you're right. You're back to where you started. But I was the first to believe in you. And I have watched you doubt whether you're worthy ever since. But you know what... I am the person I am today because of you. I never told you that, but it's true. You are the bravest, most stubborn, most determined... knucklehead I know. Toothless didn't give you that, Hiccup. He just made it--" Astrid explained

"Easier." Hiccup cut her off with his own realization

"And now it's gonna be a lot harder. So... what are you gonna do about it?" Astrid leaned forward to see his face

Hiccup shrugged "Probably something stupid."

Astrid smiled "That's the Hiccup I know."

Hiccup grabbed Astrid's hand and kissed her on the cheek

Hiccup and Astrid join hands and smiled at each other. Gothi covered Hiccup and Astrid's joined hands with a ceremonial cloth and taps the cloth with her staff. Hiccup removed his hand from the cloth to hold Astrid's cheek as they kissed

"To the chief and chieftess!"

The crowd cheered

"Wow, Viggo. Well, I guess when you put it that way, no, I'm not." Hiccup threw the Dragon Eye over Viggo and Astrid and into the volcano

"No." Viggo let go of Astrid and her ax and leaned to grab the Dragon Eye "No! Hiccup!" Viggo fell into the volcano

Hiccup ran up to the edge and looked down at the molten rock beneath his "Viggo... It didn't have to end this way." He stood back up straight

Astrid walked up to stand by Hiccup "Are you okay?"

Hiccup nodded "Yeah. I'll be fine."

"It's finally over." Astrid paused "It is over, right?"

Hiccup pulled Astrid away from the edge of the volcano "Yeah, of course. Definitely." Hiccup confirmed

"I should have listened to you. You are our leader. Our relationship can't get in the way of that. It won't happen again." Astrid promised

"Just promise me you won't stop telling me what you're thinking. Astrid, I rely on you. It's what makes us, well, us. Deal?" Hiccup stuck his hand out to shake

"Deal."

Astrid grabbed Hiccup's hand and pulled him in for a kiss.
