Huening Kai's message fills me with an unexplainable joy, and a buzz on my skin electrifies my mood and tells me I can accomplish everything in sight. But I'm much too shy to actually take his offer.

The next day at dance practice, I focus on the routine, stealing glances at Huening Kai whenever I can.

Soobin certainly notices the latter part. During a water break, he nudges me in the ribs. He purses his lips, raising a brow as if I'm making some fatal mistake. "What are you waiting for?"

I nod, as if I totally understand what he means. After a while, I do.

It dawns on me, Huening Kai's worry—what he mentioned about time running out and the inevitable goodbye. Imagining life returning to normal, sweeping tables while I lose my senses through wafts of fried chicken and cackles of gaming teens, seems like a nightmare. How can I be so stupid to act like I have years to admire him without taking action?

I've always been too quiet, too slow, too cowardly. This time I'll squash at least two of those labels.

Striding forward, I take Huening Kai's hand in my own.

His brows arch, surprise molding the planes of his face. Then, he laughs. Everyone else doesn't hear it through all the other noise in the studio, but I sure do. How can I mistake it for anything else? I'm certain it'll replay for months and years after he's gone.

"This is one of the reasons I really like you, Nova," he says. "You always manage to surprise me."

Surprise him? I'm the most typical boy within Los Angeles, as long as you attach a few words. Oh, he's the quiet type. And then everyone and their aunt would understand me. How could Huening Kai see anything different than the anxious mess I am?

"I think it feels easier now, doesn't it?" Huening Kai says.

I raise my brows, wondering whether he's referring to the way my tongue feels lighter, like I might actually feel safe to whisper a few words into his ear.

"To hold hands, I mean," he clarifies.

I nod, trying hard to keep my vision from spinning whenever he weaves his fingers through mine.

Behind me, Beomgyu and Taehyun are giggling like schoolboys watching a cartoon. I'm surprised when their gibes barely bother me. Soobin is clapping loudly, but I can't tell whether it's for the group of dancers who've just finished their turn. Behind Huening Kai's shoulder, I receive a stealthy thumbs up from Yeonjun.

It's like a game, I realize—a whole team cheering me on.

A/N: Who is excited for the "Drama" music video? I can't wait!
