I remember
I remember talking to my teacher
We were talking about my stories
He asked me about a story that was about one of my nightmares
He asked me what it could mean
A hidden fear
An anxiety
He asked me where the nightmare could stem from
I told him I didn't know
I told him that I was feeling better because I was able to overcome it
He then asked me how
How was I able to overcome something so terrifying
How was I able to deal
The woman from the attic
The shark in the ocean
The world bursting to flames
Suffocating in my own mind
Constantly thinking of our end
I looked at him and blankly said
I kill them
I
Kill
Them
I face them
I look to them and take them down
I killed the woman in the attic
I faced the ocean
I watched as our world burned
And I didn't flinch
I stared back at the creature erupting from the ocean
I looked back in the mirror as I faced myself
And I beat them
The monster is my own mind
Yours too
You can face them
And you can beat them
Or you can let them devour you
