Ch 8: Rip the mission highjacker

"Clarity, you're upset..." Ray started slowly.

"Raymond." Clarity said his full name and Ray knew she was dead serious. "I need them gone. I can't live like this anymore. These powers I don't want them, I never have. Yes, I know I've done good with them, but I've done so much bad. I've done too much I can't take back. It's either they go or I go. Do you understand? Do you get what I'm telling you?"

"That you should definitely be on 24/7 surveillance until your in better spirits?" Ray replied slowly, hoping Gideon would take the cue and do just that. "Do you hear something?"

"It's probably the time bureau coming to arrest me for murder." Clarity wiped at her eyes. "I deserve to wear orange for the rest of my life."

"I don't think they're here for you. I think they're here for Rip." Ray replied.

"What? Find Jonas, hide him. That kid won't last a day in a foster home." Clarity demanded she stood up sprinting to the bridge.

"But the mission proved that Mallus is real." She got there just in time to hear Rip lament to Director Bennet, two agents behind him. One of them was Ava.

"Explain it to the tribunal." Director Bennet replied.

"The tribunal woah, Director Bennet.." Clarity stepped in between them. "If anyone's to blame for this incident-"

"Sir, pay Miss Springs no mind." Ava objected from behind him walking into his line of sight. "Agent Matrelli and her were romantically involved. She's taking it rather hard."

"No, I mean yes, I am, we were, once but, Urgh Director Bennet none of this is Rip's fault. You can't arrest him for this, you're arresting the wrong person." Clarity protested.

"Stay out of this, Miss Springs. If I recall, you quit. Grieving or not, Keep quiet or I'll arrest you on obstruction. In the meantime, you Mr. Hunter are being detained and suspended from active duty." Director Bennet continued on.

"You can't detain me. I... I created the Bureau." Rip objected.

"Then you of all people should know that no one is exempt from its rules." Director Bennet countered.

"Clarity, stand down. That's an order." Sara reprimanded as Clarity made to get Rip out of the cuffs.

"You can't let them do this!" Clarity objected. "Sara,"

"This is time bureau business." Ava objected. "Your captain has no say in bureau affairs."

"Agent Sharpe." Rip tried but she didn't listen. She didn't say a single word to Rip. Instead walking over to Sara.

"Thank you for notifying us of Director Hunter's whereabouts." Ava told her.

"Sara." Clarity gasped in surprise. "How could you?"

"Now the Legends are free to fly the skies?" Sara checked ignoring Claritys statement. Not wanting to look and see that hurt in her eyes.

"Affirmative." Ava confirmed. "The Time Bureau has bigger things to worry about than a bunch of idiots."

"Mallus is getting stronger, Captain Lance." Rip warned her. "Last night was only the beginning. There is a war coming. And history needs you to be ready. You and the rest of the Legends."

"Rip!" Clarity rushed after him eyes wide. She tried to grab for his cuffs but he'd twisted away.

"Take care of my son, Clarity. I think I may be going away for a while." Rip told her, the time doorway slammed shut in her face.

"It should've been me." Clarity protested fresh tears gathering in her eyes. "Why wasn't it me?" She whirled to face Sara. "What the hell did you do!?"

"Sucking the life out of people is Darhk's MO. All I did was tell Ava that he was the cause and it was Rip's fault he got brought back. Your not going to prison for anything, Clarity." Sara denied.

"But I should." Clarity countered. "Rip shouldn't be rotting in a cell, it should be me! I didn't ask for you to save me. I deserve to go jail. I deserve it."

"I'm always going to protect you." Sara denied stepping forwards. "I'm not just saying that as a Captain, or your friend, or whatever we almost were. I'll always save you no matter what. Whether you want me too or not."

"Don't touch me!" Clarity jerked away from Sara as she reached out to hug her, she stumbled back falling down the parlour stairs. "I don't want to hurt you." Clarity looked away tears streaming as she stood up. "I've hurt-I've killed enough people today."

Clarity walked back to her room finding Ray standing in the hall. "Rip's arrested. Where's Jonas?"

"In Rip's room, Gideon's explaining everything to him." Ray replied. "Poor kid, can't even imagine. At least he has us."

Clarity nodded raising her hand to shut her room doors.

"Ray. Make me that no power serum." With that said Clarity shut her door. She didn't turn her lava lamp on. The room kept entirely dark.

And that's another chapter of book 3 down!!! I am on a roll peoples!!! Woohoo! This is so exciting!!! I can't believe I'm already here! It feels so good! Not entirely sure when the next update will be as I have a research paper due at midnight tonight and a lab due tomorrow but it'll come at some point. Alright, now here are the questions!
