"Glitch us then," Zari urged.
"I can't glitch us, can't concentrate, we might end up in the center of the room, or something, everything's oh god sensing is worse, everything's spinning. This is worse than the tea cup ride Tyler spun really fast when we went on a Disney date in college. Mm," Clarity leaned away from Zari, and threw up.
"Okay, you know what? It's fine..we can just wait for rescue." Zari made a grossed out face.
"I'm just gonna...lay down." Clarity winced, feeling awful, the substance she'd been injected with having different effects on her than it did Nate. A cold sheen of sweat clung to her that seemed to boil off her body into steam.
"Yeah," Zari let Clarity rest her head in her lap. She caught sight of Rip in the crowd. "You do that...just don't throw up on me."
"When you welcomed me to the Order, you were seeking proof. Evidence that life does not have to end with death. But the power that courses through my veins is not mine own. It is a gift. From Mallus." The woman who would someday be revealed to be an adult Nora Darhk threw off her hood. Speaking to the cult. A flip was switched, and electricity started rushing into Darhk's body. Clarity gasped as she felt it, starting to panic.
"Clarity, hey, hey...easy." Zari clutched her the best her cuffed arms would allow. "It's okay."
"Mm, Mm." Clarity shook her head. "C-can't let it happen...it's so wrong, can't let him...Nygh..." Clarity twisted, "Sara won't... No, can't find it...where is it..? Gotta stop it...."
"Clarity," Zari repeated her name eyes widening as she started to see her lightning glowing under her skin, it was moving in circles, twisting around like a pencil Scribble, not flowing at all like she'd described to Zari earlier. She now understood why she was having so much trouble. "Okay, just...I'm gonna turn you straight towards it." Zari whispered lowly. "You can do your thing. I'll aim. You just short it out or whatever."
Clarity did exactly that draining all the electrical energy out of it and out of Darhk. Rip looked on from the crowd entirely relieved. Until he heard the angered shout of Nora Darhk. Clarity started to choke, she was lifted by the young Darhk flying to her hand which closed around her throat. In the crowd, for the second time in his life, the first being when he hesitated to first kill Savage, Rip Hunter completely froze.
"Hey let her go!" Zari yelled but her mouth slammed shut with a wave of Nora's hand.
"You've brought this on yourself. A life for a life." Nora seethed nothing but stone cold fury in her eyes, as she threw Clarity into the machine, an incantation flying from her lips. The metal electrodes coming alive on the machine, twisting around Clarity's limbs holding her in place.
"This outsider dares to interfere with the demonstration. This worshipper of the lord believes that her god's laws are more powerful than that of Mallus."
"Seriously don't believe in god." Clarity protested softly like that was the only thing in Nora's statement that mattered. Really how could she? If he did exist, that meant he decided she was to be struck by lightning and that was something she couldn't bring herself to think about. She was never that faithful, not in the religious sense anyways.
"As such," Nora went on raising her hand. "She shall pay the ultimate price. God will have no power here this night. However, If Mallus graces it, if he be lenient, she shall survive." Nora narrated to the crowd, really just spouting a bunch of bullshit. What would really decide if Clarity lived or died was how much electricity was currently in her body vs how much Damien needed to be resurrected.
Nora threw out her hand and Clarity felt an overwhelming force crash upon her. It stole her breath, forced her back against the machine, her eyes rolled into the back of her head. Lightning was all she could see, all she could hear. This invisible force was like a wave crashing down upon her, blasting her, pushing her lightning out of her body and into Darhk's. Her skin was dulling, so were her eyes as the energy was pulled from her. Her form ashening. Clarity tried to hang onto her lightning, pull it back into her, stop it from escaping but the magic was too strong. She was helpless. She was dying. There was nothing she could do to stop it.
