Ch 4: Fuck this Future

"Oh look at that pachirisu. We must be special. Didn't mention us." Sara looked to Clarity. Though she'd spoken too soon.

"Sara Lance you are hereby under arrest for violating the Anti-Meta-human Act. Charges include: Unlawful marriage of a metahuman, unlawful marriage of the same sex, unlawful sexual activities with metahuman, aiding a fugitive and abetting arrest, obstruction, larceny, burglary, metahuman smuggling, conspiracy, impersonating an officer, assault, Vandalism of government property, 58 assassinations of Argus personnel. A plea for your peaceful surrender will now play."

Mick whistled at the list nodding at Sara in nothing but respect.

"Dad...?" Sara whispered in confusion as a holographic image of an older Quentin Lance appeared.

"Sara, baby, I know you love this girl. She's your wife, how could you not? She makes you happy that's all a father really wants for his daughter you know but things are different now. There aren't any strings left to pull. Nothing left I can do to protect you. They aren't just talking' about arrest anymore. They're moving' for a kill order on you too. Shoot on sight. You understand what that means...I'd rather you be miserable and alive, than happy and dead I know that sounds awful. I do, but I went through losing you once, I can't lose you again. Sara, turn yourself in before it's too late. If not for me than for your mother. You've put her through this for long enough. She lost one daughter don't make her lose another. Love-"

The image stopped playing and Sara just stared at the drone silently stunned by her fathers words. Her hand reaching up to touch her sisters necklace. What awaited her in this future?

"Anti-Meta-human?" Nate looked to Sara in confusion. Sara shook her head lightly unsure of what to say.

"Yeah, meta-humans have been illegal since 2021. Didn't you guys get the memo?" Zari asked as she typed on her phone. Hacking into the drone messing with its scanner.

"No." Ray shook his head.

"Uh-" Clarity didn't even have the chance to finish her Uh oh as she felt a laser charging up.

"Glitch identified, kill mode activitated." The drone spoke its voice turning lethal.

"What!?" Clarity shrieked throwing up a quick forcefield of electricity, whimpering as a blast hit her shoulder shattering the field in one good. Clarity dropping to her knees. "Ah."

"Sara I gotta-" She gestured to the drones that were about to descend on her. A third hovering watchfully over the rest of the legends.

"Go!" Sara told her eyes widened watching in horror as the two drones followed after her even in her lightning form as she glitched away.

"Well, nice to meet you." Zari sighed. "I'm out."

"Wait, your life is still in danger!" Ray protested pausing as a laser was shot at his feet.

"Remain where you are." The last drone ordered.

"Ditto." Zari replied, walking off without a care. "Bye."

Zari thought she was in the clear as she walked out the back but Clarity dropped to the ground beside her having just blown up the drones that had been trying to kill her. She'd made them fly right into each other by glitching."I've had better landings." Clarity winced brushing off her jeans. "Ugh that's gonna bruise. Hey wait for me. You shouldn't go anywhere alone."

Zari sighed in annoyance, "You're following me no matter what I do aren't you?"

"Mhm." Clarity hummed, "I don't think it's all that safe to glitch us or I wou- Oh fuck this future." Clarity protested as she saw the giant report meta's poster on the front doors. She blasted it with her lightning with a small scowl.
