"My powers will keep me warm." Clarity replied. "It's fall weather outside, it would be a whole different story if it was winter."
"Are you going to be okay going out?" Sara asked her. "We're in the future. You sure you don't need any adjustment time or anything?"
"I was perfectly fine when we visited 2046." Clarity replied. "I'll be fine here. It's only like twenty years ahead. Honestly it's a bit of a sweet spot for me actually. All the future tech, but it's not yet at a point where I feel overwhelmed by it. Gary's too far away to sense, he might even be wearing a temporal blocker. It keeps meta's with sensory capabilities like me unable to detect you. Something Rip had R and D develop. It doesn't get rid of you but it masks you. Makes you feel like your just another random person."
"That's alright, just glitch us all close to his distress signal. It's a lot of ground to cover best we move quick." Clarity nodded glitching them close to where Gary's signal emanated from. "If he hasn't moved he should be close by."
"Something feels off about this place." Jax looked around as Clarity, Sara, Mick, Ray and himself walked through the city streets closing in on Gary's location.
"Don't have to tell me. I don't feel anyone outside for miles. They all seem to be in their homes from what I'm feeling. There should be kids outside playing and flying kites, teens riding their bikes down that road, little skateboard punks should be messing around where we're standing. It's too empty." Clarity frowned.
"Yeah. Like, where is everybody?" Ray agreed, "Why is it so deserted?"
"Martial law." Mick replied. "It's a police state."
"How do you know?" Jax asked turning his head to look at the arsonist.
"I can smell pigs." Mick grunted.
"He's right." Sara confirmed. "All the cars on the street are military."
"I mean I thought I felt a lot of weapons but-" Clarity began except Mick cut her off.
"More pigs!" Mick grabbed Clarity by her vest, hauling her with him behind a dumpster. Everyone else following the arsonists lead. "Get down! Get down!"
"Note to self, military vehicles feel the same as regular vehicles." Clarity sighed.
"That's A.R.G.U.S. covert paramilitary organization." Ray eyed the name and logo on the side of the armored car.
"Yeah, but it seems they've forgotten how to be covert." Jax glared as the truck passed.
"Anyone else think this is the anachronism? Because I do. Lyla would never let this happen, neither would Dig." Clarity shook her head. "There's probably hundreds of patrols happening right now judging from what I'm feeling. There are drones in the sky too. Why is the future always so messed up? Can't we ever visit a happy future? Sara, we have to fix this. Whatever's happening here it's wrong."
"Don't get ahead of yourself, Pachirisu. Just because it feels wrong doesn't necessarily mean it's not supposed to happen. We have to be careful, we can't just change time. The bureau might take the waverider and I wouldn't be able to get it back a second time."
"The signal we intercepted came from over there." Ray pointed the legends all walking forwards. "Should be here somewhere. Gary! Gary! Gary!"
"Gare?" Clarity leaned over some bins patting the top of his head having sensed someone hiding, though it hadn't felt like Gary she knew it had to be him. Gary gasped startled popping up like a weasel. "There you are." Clarity smiled.
"I'm so glad your okay." Clarity kneeled a top the bin pulling Gary into a hug.
"Clarity? No, no you shouldn't be here!" Gary panicked.
