Ch 1: Once a Legend

"The shitty department chain that sells knock off everything?" Clarity leaned forwards in surprise. "No..no way I refuse to believe it."

"It's true, it's true." Sara insisted, "but don't worry I quit today."

"You better have. You are way too good for that place." Clarity told her reaching out across the table taking her hand. "I'm sure you'll find another job. A better one you're more suited for. Like-oh like a night club bouncer! Beat up drunk assholes every night, there you go or oh! You could start up your own dojo. Teach assassiny self defense classes to kids during the day and adults at night. People pay a lot of money for that. Or you could teach archery."

"Your just full of ideas aren't you?" Sara smiled in amusement as she chewed her food. "But you forget unlike you I'm legally dead. I have been for two years and I never got a college degree. That makes getting a job, any job insanely difficult."

"Sara you know two expert hackers." Clarity let go of her hand to throw her's up. "Felicity and I could change all of that in a blink of an eye."

"Those are official city records, Clarity." Sara chastised.

"Oh my god you are such a cops daughter. How are you a stickler for the law right now?" Clarity wondered. "Weren't you the rebellious of the Lance's?"

"I was, how do you think I learned to respect it? Better question, how are you not Miss goodie goodie?" Sara countered. "You can't just go around messing with official documents."

"Sara, I'm a hacker. Do you know what I was like in college? Total rebel. I mean I even went goth. I was all fight the power. Down with bureaucracy." Clarity shook her fist with a laugh.

"Says the woman now working for the most important security organization that no one's ever heard of." Sara mocked Rip's words from earlier.

"Yeah, well, people change. But really if you think about it I wouldn't even be changing anything. I'd be fixing it. It's a false document, you're clearly alive."

"Your sweet Pachirisu but I can manage on my own." Sara told her.

"Alright, fine but if you change you mind it'll take me less than an hour." Clarity replied. The two finished their meal not long after that. Once the dishes were cleared they went to sit on Clarity's couch. Glasses of wine refilled and set down on the coffee table.

They were getting closer, in each other's arms, stealing kisses, Sara managed to slide Claritys time courier off her. A sly suggestion about an accidental time door opening being enough to warrant its removal.

"Mm, I'll be back. One sec." Clarity pulled away. "It's not you I just-Too much wine. Gotta pee." Clarity scadaddled to her bathroom. Sara picked up the the time courier on the coffee table. She should have just ran out the door right then. But there was a part of her that paused. Looked at the watch, studied it. Debating whether or not doing this was right. It hurt her heart but in her mind she knew they needed Gideon. And Clarity'd never just give the Ai up. "She'll forgive me for taking you Gideon. I need you more than she does."

"Put. Her. Down." Clarity fumed Sara gasped as Clarity shocked her hand. The watch had glitched onto Claritys wrist again.

"Clarity, I was just admiring it-" Sara tried, but it was too late. Clarity knew.

"Oh I know exactly what you were doing. I'm not deaf, Sara. I never thought you could be so heartless. Guess love doesn't mean that much to you does it?"

"Clarity don't say that of course it-"

"Why? Why shouldn't I? All this. All of it...it hasn't been because you liked me or because you wanted me. You've been after Gideon. So you can what? Steal the waverider back? Of course that's what your doing why else would you want her." Clarity walked to the couch wiping at her eyes. Her hair frizzing as she ran a hand through it. "The only reason you-and I was going to-" Clarity pulled at her hair. "You know what? Go. Just go. I don't care. Here." Clarity glitched her watch off slamming the Ai down on the table so hard the wood cracked underneath her palm. "Here. Only kid I have left. Take her and get out of my apartment."

Sara picked up the watch. Swallowing thickly. "Clarity I-I do like you. Whether I came here for Gideon or not."

"I said GET OUT!" Clarity snapped voice raised. "Get the hell out and leave me alone. You've got some nerve. Really you do. Coming here and, Jesus I thought this was date! But this whole time you've just been using me. Trying to get to her."

"I didn't think you would have given me to her if I had asked..."

"So you admit it then? You're here for her? That's why you asked me to dinner?"

"No-I mean yes but-"

"And what was your plan, huh? Get me to have sex with you? Get me good and glowing I take my watch off and you snatch it when you leave in the middle of the night. I take it you weren't even going to have the decency of staying til morning. You know I'd notice her missing. I'm not an idiot. So you slip out while I'm asleep such a classy canary you are."

"It's not like that-"

"No Sara it is exactly like that!" Clarity protested. "I'm sick of being used, and betrayed and manipulated. You were one of the only people who I thought I wouldn't have to worry about that happening but here we are. You want to hop on the waverider fine. Go ahead! Take the rest of the team why don't you. But you can do it without me. I'm fucking done."

Alright!! That was chapter 1!!!! Season 3 is off to a start! So excited to finally be getting into it. I've had all of these ideas for ages and I CAN FINALLY DO THEM! and it makes my heart so happy inside.
