We fell asleep on the couch and I woke up early in the morning to the smell of coffee. I sat up and immediately got dizzy from the vertigo. I rubbed my hand on my eyes, smudging what was left on my makeup.

I hear Noah singing “Dear God” by Avenged Sevenfold in the kitchen as he’s making the most elaborate breakfast I have seen in a while. I walk into the kitchen, listening to him sing.

“Dear God the only thing I ask of you is to hold her when I'm not around when I'm much too far away. We all need that person who can be true to you, but I left her when I found her and now I wish I'd stayed.” Noah quickly turns his head to the sudden appearance into the song and I sing the next part, “Cause I’m lonely, and I’m tired and I’m missing you again oh no, once again.” I smile sheepishly and he keeps singing the song.

He pulls me gingerly into a hug and continues making breakfast. I ask him nervously, “Noah? Can I ask you something? And I’m being completely serious about it?”

“Yeah babe? What is it?” He looks down at me with those caring, loving eyes.

“Well, I was wondering...that maybe I wanna submit a demo disc of me singing to a record company. Just for the heck of it, just to see if I even have a chance, you know?” I stutter, a little afraid of his reaction. His reaction was a combination of when I accepted his marriage proposal, when we got married, and when we found out I was pregnant: all sheer happiness. The grin on his face extended from ear to ear and it made me smile. He picked me up and swung me around a little saying,

“Oh my God, babe you have NO idea how long I have been waiting for you to say that! You are much better than I am and you have such potential to become a recording artist. Have you decided what songs you wanted to put on the demo?” He set me down lightly and continued cooking ecstatically.

“Well, the thing is is that I wanna wait until after Carter is born just in case my vocal chords get messed up or something. But I have thought of songs and I’ve narrowed it down to 7 songs,” I picked at my nail subconsciously and started tapping, “I’ve got Dear God, Afterlife, and Seize The Day by Avenged Sevenfold, When It Rains and That’s What You Get by Paramore, Feel Good Drag by Anberlin, and Lithium by Evanescence. What do you think of that setlist, hon?”

“Celeste, those are all really good song choices, but don’t you think you need a fun and bubbly song and not all sad songs? You sing Dear Maria, Count Me In by All Time Low and 7 Minutes In Heaven (Atavan Halen) by Fall Out Boy really well too, why not pick one of those?”

“I never really thought about doing a fast paced song, I guess you’re right! I’m gonna take two of the songs out so I can squeeze these ones into the set.” I grab my pad of paper and a pen and scribble out Dear God and When It Rains from my setlist and lose my train of thought. I start doodling aimlessly until I hear Noah saying,

“Babe. Breakfast is ready, come eat.” He flashes that million dollar smile and I can’t deny my hunger for two any longer. We eat and talk until I feel Carter kicking inside.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Yes, I do know that this chapter is extremely short compared to the rest, but I haven't been writing much lately. I had to end the chapter here for plot reasons. You as the reader will understand what I mean in the next chapter! :D
