When people mention the season of Spring most are thinking about the budding of flowers and the weather. The way the breeze is cool and welcoming. It allows you to wear sweaters while also not burning up in the hot son of Summer. The way the birds come back so they can sing their songs of joy. The way animals come out of hiding and reveal themselves.
It was everything that Quinn enjoyed about spring, but the reason she loved Spring was because it marked her new beginning. She had not expected much when she learned that her new apartment would have another person already living in it.
When she walked through the door she was not expecting there to be so many plants. There were sunflowers, daisies, bluebells and even ferns. It was a lovely scene. They covered the windows and framed some of the tables in the room as well.
Their was a girl sitting on the couch, her dark brown hair braided so delicately. She was fair and small, smaller than Quinn at least. She had lovely brown eyes that had a tint of something else within them. She couldn't quite place it, but it was a familiar feeling. She was wearing a nice dress that was covered with flowers and in her hands was a book.
Quinn closed the door quietly not wanting to interrupt her reading. The book was a language that Quinn couldn't understand and she wondered if this girl spoke multiple languages.
Once she took her shoes off she walked past that girl on the couch and quietly opened the door. The room was empty except for a plant and note on the bed. She put her boxes down on a side table and glanced towards the note.
Dear Neighbor,
I got you a small house warming gift. I hope we can become goods friends.
Sincerely, Gabi
Quinn smiled at the note and glanced at the plant, it was a succulent. Having never taken care of a plant before it made her feel a bit cautious that it might not survive long in her hands. She had no green thumb and she might accidentally kill it by just looking at it.
She placed the plant near the nearby window and glanced outside, how different the city was compared to her quiet home back in Massachusetts. The streets were always busy and there was also so much noise. She heard footsteps behind her and she noticed her roommate at the doorway.
"You could've said Hi," Gabriella says smiling as she offers her hand out to Quinn.
Her voice was sweet, like a bird singing in the sky. She looked very polite and her hand was still out.
After a short quiet seconds Quinn extended her hand and smiled, Gabriella intrigued her. She had a lot of plants and that book she was reading was nothing she had seen before.
"Do you have a name?" Gabriella jokes as she brings her hands to her sides.
"Ah! Yes, my name is Quinn, I'll be your new roommate," Quinn introduces herself as she scratches the back of her head in embarrassment.
"I'm assuming you read the note, I'm Gabriella," She says smiling, "Would you like a tour of the place?"
Quinn nods and she's surprised when her hand is taken and is shown around the apartment. It wasn't that big, however they had two bathrooms and every room seemed to have plants in them. Vines, ferns, flowers, anything that could be grown inside. Of course each plant was beautiful and she loved how bright and colorful they were.
